I tried Sal's at the recommendation of a colleague; I have been here at least twice in the past two weeks. This is my go-to weeknight pizza spot in the area. It looks like a bit of a hole in the wall but the pizza reminds me of the pizza I grew up eating at Family Style in Yeadon; more of a Greek than Italian style. The crust is a little sweet but good; the pizza is solid, and the stromboli was decent. The price is unbelievable...and the cheese isn't that low quality greasy mess. In the past 25 days, I have tried 6 pizza places in the Dover area + 2 at Rehoboth Beach (I'm not counting the psuedo pizza I had at Grotto's). This is in addition to the 6+ places I've tried from Dover to Milford since December. The pizza has literally either been disgusting or lackluster (with the exception of Frederica Pizza & Pasta); subsequently, I had to drive down to Pomodoro's at Bethany Beach a few weeks ago to get a decent pie because I was literally afraid to try anywhere else. For me, there's two types of pizza - weeknight pizza and craft pizza. I LOVE craft pizza and am willing to seek it out, but I also love pizza in general...Sal's really hits the spot for weeknight pizza. read more

While the prices are reasonable and the service was friendly and fast, I'm afraid that Sal's won't be our go-to pizza place. Our preference is to always try local spots before defaulting to the national chains. Sal's was recommended by a neighbor, and we were happy to give them a try. Unfortunately, our pizza was bland and the garlic knots arrived swimming in oil. Even worse, they had only the slightest hint of garlic. The food is decent. A good local delivery option. HOWEVER, I CAN LONGER TOLERATE THE S***** customer service. Many times I have called and talked to an Italian man that has 0 customer service skills. I always know I'm going to have to bite my tongue at some point during the convo when he answers. I just ordered from them and waited an hour for them to say they came to my house and knocked and called my phone, WHICH IS A LIE. I was waiting for them basically by the door. They sold my food and wouldn't remake it unless I came in and picked it up. It's an alright option price wise and taste. But just know being treated like a paying customer is sometimes hit or miss ADDITIONAL: Since I know that this business looked at my review and couldn't take the truth, I'll add this: Instead of turning down a customer that gave you CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM. I have been a customer of Sal's Pizza & Grill for over a decade. Everytime we order it doesn't matter if it's in the shop or it's delivery, the food is always a 10/10, always hot, every order that we have has never been wrong. The ambiance in the pizza shop is amazing. From what I can tell it is a family owned restaurant, and the staff has always been nice, has helped me with any request or question that I have. My favorites from Sal's Pizza & Grill would be, the classic cheese pizza (extra cheese), the fries are one of the best pizza fries I've ever had. (With a little bit of old bay too makes them immaculate). My grandfather would also like to add that the cheeseburger sub is one of the best subs he's ever had. I really recommend if you are in the Camden area to go and try Sal's Pizza & Grill, it will not disappoint. read more

Was just looking at the reviews since I live very close and the parking lot seems empty all the time. I do see the delivery people speeding up and down the road however. Thought I'd put my two cents in. First off, they kept the name of the actual Sal's that was there. They actually had good service and food. These people, not so much. I ordered from them when they first opened under the same name. I got an Italian sub. It tasted like straight vinegar. So I took it back. They replaced it, the second one had onions. I called and was told the owner was on vacation and I spoke with the manager. He told me that Italian subs come with onions and you have to ask for them not to be put on there. Really?? That's the first place I've ever seen do that. He was very rude and didn't offer to fix the problem. That was years ago and I absolutely refuse to order from them, nor do my family members. I see others have experienced the same rudeness and issues. There are too many pizza spots that offer great food with great prices to deal with rudeness and poor service. Skip them and try someone else. They deserve all the bad ratings they have. There is no doubt in my mind that these people who have had bad experiences are telling lies. It absolutely happened trust me. Like I say, this was years ago but once I'm treated like that, I won't go back. read more

Ordered the Saturday special, which is 20 wings, x-large pizza and a 2 liter soda, and the wings were HORRIBLE. Got the boneless wings and the taste was bad, breading was falling off and over cooked. Called back and was told that is how they are supposed to be with no resolution offered. Pizza was good, but will never order from here again if that is how you treat bad orders. This was my first time ordering from this place and it was very unfriendly and unprofessional service from the cook and manager.After a long wait for my order of two cheesesteaks, they were stone cold and the owner and manager refused to correct the situation by accommodating to the customer by remaking my order fresh and hot. The manager had an attitude and continued talking over me in a mocking and rude manner. After this display of unprofessionalism I asked to talk to the owner and or cook who instead of rectifying the situation by making a fresh sandwich and apologizing for the rudeness of his manager, made excuses as to why it was cold as if a cheesesteak isn't supposed to be hot. Also while waiting for our food, the manager was on her cellphone eating a Popsicle while working which is unacceptable and unsanitary in an eating establishment. Due to the unpleasant experience of service and lack of respect for their customers. I will not be buying anything from them again. I was also refused a refund. It's very disappointing that it is hard for some people to be kind and respectful to others. The owner is full of crap! I've bought pizza there twice and it has been delicious both times. My problem happened the second time I ordered(7/5/17). He charged me almost $10 for toppings I didn't even get!! All I wanted was bacon, alfredo sauce, and ricotta on one pizza. How is that $8.75 for two pizza's?? I went into the store the following day to question the price because it isn't listed on their menu. The owner laughed at me for questioning his prices then wouldn't answer any of my questions. All he kept saying was the Alfredo sauce is $1.50. So he basically charged me $7.25 for Bacon(didn't get) and Ricotta cheese. After telling him I didn't even get the Bacon on my pizza(I still had one and I offered to bring it in if he didn't believe me). THEN he called me a liar and said "I made your pizza! I know what's on it!". Are you kidding me? Who even thinks it's okay to be that rude to someone when all they wanted to know is why the extra toppings costed so much? They will NEVER get any more of my money. The food is delicious but not worth being lied to and overcharged for something you won't even get. read more

Sal makes a good NY style pizza. Fold it up and enjoy...and an excellent crust. I got a large pepperoni for $7 on one of their special nights(Tuesday I think).
