Made a reservation for lunch. We ordered two salads, and ice tea and a basket of bread as bread is not included. The lunch was fine, nothing amazing but totally pleasant enough. I have been several times and it was just as I had expected. However, we were told by our waiter at one hour and five minutes he was closing out our bill. I thought that is fine he is probably leaving his shift, but no it was that he wanted us to move on to fill his table. My friend asked if we could sit outside which was was not available. If they were busy, and a line waiting I would totally get it. However there were several empty tables and the entire bar area was available except for two tables. At any rate it was less than welcoming. I will not go back. I am sure they don't care, but we both left feeling that the service was pretty abysmal. read more

Had not gone here for several years. It fell off my radar. Ate outside with a beautiful view of the waterway and there were heaters . Food and service were perfect . Miguel was our primary server though everyone else that we interacted with were friendly and so attentive. The best of old school service With excellent food. Piatti saves the day during Covid-19! As the kids go stir crazy and hangry during SIP for another month, I came home with a family dinner tray of Italian goodies i.e., spaghetti & meatballs, salad, and tiramisu. Next time, I'm ordering additional tiramisu, as the kids were fighting over who gets a slightly bigger piece. Clearly, it should be mom LOL! Wines were half off even high-end sparkling wines aka champagne, but we can't call it that. Their house reds are only $10, from Merlot to Cab Sauv made in Rutherford. I was also tempted to buy a case of their "longer haul" case offerings. I told my colleagues about this great deal and some stocked up the next day; I'm definitely returning for more. Spirits & beer were also displayed on their counters to get rid of their inventory. If the vodka was 60% proof, I could make my own sanitizer j/k. Support local restaurants and businesses. Went for the first time for dinner. Service was great and everyone there was very nice. Our food however left much to be desired. The saffron spaghetti was very bitter and the shrimp had not been de-veined. The lemon ricotta ravioli had so much lemon peel it tasted like a cleaning spray. The donuts for dessert were raw in the middle. I will say that the burrata appetizer, the lasagna, and the pana cota were all delicious though. I ordered from PIatti through dish dash and got the eggplant Parmesan and asparagus as a side. I opened the bag the food was warm and there was no bread. I opened each container and the asparagus had three small anchovies on top so I broke them up and stirred them in the food and when I took a bite it was too spicy for me. I had to call back and get a refund because I cannot eat really spicy food. Mild is okay. The eggplant was good but it got cold I was trying to eat it while they sent me through two online people than one called me. Oh well! If you have issues with your mouth and stuff make sure your careful ordering veggies because a lot of restaurants use the spicy method instead of using their brain and time to season a vegetable dish. I have several complaints about this restaurant. First, my grandson's water had "something" in his freshly poured glass. They poured us a new one. I ordered one of the specialty cocktails from the menu and I could not for the life of me drink it! Tasted like lighter fluid (not that I'd ever tasted lighter fluid) I told the waitress that I could not drink this (but I'd still pay, because I didn't want to be that person) she kindly took it away. I ordered off the wine list instead. My first glass was quite tasty, I ordered another glass of wine to go with dinner but it had LIPSTICK on the rim!! I felt like I had already complained enough so I poured my water into the water pitcher (left on table) and drank my wine from the water glass. Ugh! Now I'm wondering if they re-use water from the pitcher and that's how my g-son's water had gunk in it? Pure speculation, but logical. My friend and I "split" a salad and penne w/bolognese. I clearly stated that we were splitting these. We received one full portioned bowl of Bolognese and no plate to split. Not a big deal but when I asked for a bowl so we can split, she grabbed a bread plate from another table and said to use this? No, we need an actual dinner pasta bowl as it was quite saucy. The food was ok, nothing special. I agree with everyone else about the bread... who serves Italian food without bread? All they had was focaccia bread. It would have been nice have a freshly cut piece of bread and butter with the bolognese. Now came the bill... and a surcharge? What the heck? I asked who I think was the owner, and she explained it was for "health care" for the employees, what the heck? I'm a local employer and WE pay those costs for our employees, not our clients! She asked me where I was from and I said I'm a local. She said that most restaurants in the area charge this for their employees. Sorry, not for me. Overall I left with a sour feeling and chances are slim to none that I will return. The food, service, cocktails and cleanliness of the glasses are not good enough for me to spend that kind of money. read more

Great happy hour! We had a wonderful experience with lovely wine by the glass selections and some delicious bites.

Sadly this place has gone really downhill. Did they recently change chefs and now the food is bad? I used to love their pizza, but I requested a spicy version of their pepperoni pizza and they put SWEET peppers on the pizza. It tasted disgusting. Who wants a sugary pepperoni pizza. GROSS. They got rid of the pizza add ons that made their pizza experience. Probably for the best because they were charging $5 for small containers of ranch sauce and spices and chili flakes -- total rip off. The donuts are made with the same dough as the pizza. Who does that???? Do not order. Unless you just want pizza crush that was barely sprinkled in sugar. Honestly so disappointing and lame. The bolognese was bland and tasteless and covered in greasy cooking oil that is probably loaded with pesticides -- some kind of toxic glyphosate cooking oil like sunflower or canola oil. DO NOT RECOMMEND. The fries were like mushy frozen fries that were barely cooked. I won't be ordering from here again. read more

It's all about that happy hour power, Bae! Piatti's definitely knows how to do it right. This is one of the best happy hours spots that you can find in Marin! Stopped by for happy hour with a friend and I was totally blown away! Not only was the happy hour amazing, but the views from their back patio were so majestic. Piatti sits right on the water and gives way to some of the most gorgeous views of the Richardson Bay! During the warmer months, you should definitely sit outside to take advantage of the beautiful views. The happy hour selections are excellent! They've got everything from discounted wine, beer, well drinks, and house cocktails along with delicious pizzas and small bites on the menu. We indulged in two of their happy hour pizzas (one pepperoni and one margherita), meatball sliders, and truffle fries. The pizzas were the standouts of course (as you should probably expect from an Italian restaurant). Although they were happy hour priced, they were a nice size and the cheese was nicely melted and enjoyable. Both pizzas had lots of flavor and weren't overly greasy which I've unfortunately come to expect at many Italian restaurants nowadays. I really enjoyed the margherita pizza the most as I'm pretty partial to meatless pizzas. However, the pepperoni was pretty stellar as well. The meatball sliders were equally tasty. Probably could have done without the actual "slider" part as I felt as though the meatballs tasted incredibly delicious on their own, but the bread soaked up all of the lovely juices from the meatball. The bread ended up coming in handy anyways. Instantly fell in love with their truffle fries! They were perfect. Not too oily and super thin which made them perfect for dipping. All of the food was a win for me! The drinks were really good as well. Their well drinks are strooooong! Be prepared for some serious alcohol! For house wine, the Cabernet was actually quite smooth. I love that bring a glass bottle of water to the table so that you can refill it yourself without waiting for someone to come back to your table. This is especially helpful when sitting outside because we all know how hot it can get in Marin. The patio is also heated and they have provide blankets if you get cold. Such a nice touch! Can we talk about this complimentary valet service? Um, yes please! Let me toss you the keys and make my way inside. It really doesn't get much better than that. The best part about their happy hour is that they have it EVERYDAY! Yippeeee! Y'all know how much I adore happy hour, especially when I can have it all of the time. Service is spot on. They will check on you constantly regardless if you're sitting inside or outside. I have to admit that I've only come here during their happy hour, but I've read rave reviews from friends and other Yelpers about their dinner service. If the happy hour is this good, then I already know that dinner here will be fabulous! Bar tender was rude. Unprofessional with no eye contact. Seemed annoyed when I ordered fountain water lol. From there it didn't blossom. Didn't offer me anything and didn't check on me at all. I had to ask the manager if I could get a refill on my water. Had to ask others for a box and a bag to take my items to go. Luckily, he has others that work near him and clearly they know how to be in the service industry. Food was okay. Manager did try his best to accommodate. I also did notice a 4% service charge on my bill. Not sure what that was for. But never seen that in other places in Marin County. Used to it in San Francisco. read more

Went to Piatti on Monday night with my wife and daughter for my birthday. I was very impressed with how welcomed I was by the staff who left a nice birthday note on our table and treated us very well. We each had a caesar salad which was pretty good but I know a guy who makes the best ever (me-lol!) so I'm a little spoiled, and I had the Short Rib Sugo which was very tender and flavorful with the perfectly textured pappardelle pasta. My wife tried the Prawn Saffron Spaghetti and liked it so much she wouldn't even give me a bite! Our server Eduardo was very nice and had good timing, never making us feel rushed yet checking back to make sure we had everything we needed. The sun setting behind Mt. Tam with the bay in the foreground was an incredible view as well. I never realized just what a great spot this is Finally, the desserts were very good with a tiramisu, affogato and panna cotta our favorite choices, all solid! My husband and I made reservations for an anniversary dinner. We thought it'd be a great way to celebrate. I ordered the Shrimp Scampi and it was very underwhelming. It came with broccoli which was extremely bitter. There was so much broccoli every part of the dish was bitter. I tried to eat as much as I could because I don't like to waste food. When I let the server know he apologized and told me the broccoli wasn't cooked properly. A few minutes later another lady came by and saw the plate and also said the broccoli was undercooked. She apologized and told me that the dish had more broccoli than it usually does. Despite her seeing everything I left, and her stating it clearly had too much broccoli, she still charged us for it. Instead, they comped us a $12 drink. I will not be going back there again. They made no effort to make it a "good" experience for us. Despite us saying we were celebrating an anniversary. One of the positive things to come out of the last year, is the emergence of "family meals" at some of my favorite local restaurants. Family meals comprise all the elements of a meal that you might make at home, but instead you can have delivered (through Caviar) or pick up. You'll get an entree, salad, and sometimes bread or dessert. It's a three course meal for 4-6 people. Piatti has some of more consistently solid family meals we've found in the area. Their family meals typically include a large family-sized sharable entree, salad, and bread and seasoned olive oil. The family-meal entree options are fairly extensive, in that you can chose between a more cost effective pasta (red sauce or broth and cheese based campanelle), a white bean soup, a salmon entree or a braised short rib, family-sized. They even have something they are calling Tuscan fried chicken, which as near as I can tell is your all American fried chicken, not that I'm complaining. The caesar salad that comes with each meal is super-sized (they call it family sized, but it is extraordinarily huge.) We've tried all entrees, and all are good, particularly the pastas and fried chicken. (The salmon arrived undercooked, so you may want to check and reheat that dish before serving.) Thanks to Piatti's family-meals, the week of menu planning is less daunting and we are able to support a good local business through this time. read more

Piatti is a disappointment. We went for my son's birthday as he used to love their Bolognese. This is the second time we've been (was hoping the last time we went was a bad night) since they remodeled during the pandemic and while the ambiance is nice, I think I liked it better before. The service last night makes me never want to come back. First the food: solidly mediocre and the pricing seems a bit much for the quality of what you're getting. Again - it didn't used to be this way, but I get it, inflation, blah blah. (They also add 4% to your bill so you can pay their staff so they don't have to. Many people at our table of 7 were commenting on that.) We had the focaccia, meatballs, and white bean soup to start. The bread was good. The white bean soup looked like minestrone so my husband was confused, but then he found some beans in it. He said it was so spicy his throat was burning. Interesting. The meatballs were also spicy (not mentioned in the description anywhere) but fine. Then we had ravioli, the short rib ragu, a pizza, and the Bolognese, Three of us got the ravioli (I've had it before and liked it). This time it was a bit raw/undercooked (not just al dente), and had no brown butter taste. It wasn't even very lemony. For dessert we had the zeppole and some gelatos. I don't know why restaurants try to make zeppole fancy. Whatever kind of eggy batter that was, was NOT GOOD. The oil was old too, so not only was it OVERCOOKED on the outside, it was UNDERCOOKED on the inside and also tasted like old cooking oil. So gross. Honestly, you make pizza here and have pizza dough! Fry that and it will be better than whatever those were. The service was even worse than the food. It took a very long time to get our drinks. Then I asked for a cup of ice. Never came. I couldn't get her attention. My son drank his orange soda but was never asked if wanted another - or anything else. The bussers were AGGRESSIVE. We had the focaccia plates - one empty and one with a piece of bread on it still. They took them both before we could react! We were shocked! Why are you clearing BREAD?? That we had to pay for! Finally got my ice. An hour later after I asked again. Which I needed for my cloyingly sweet cocktail. My brother in law was literally still eating - fork in hand and had one last piece of ravioli on his plate when a busser came and asked if he could take it - literally the fork was IN MOTION. He said "No, I'm going to continue eating thanks." And then to me said "Yeesh, they must really want us out of here!". It was maybe 7:45. I don't know if the bussers are told to keep busy or actively walk around and yank stuff off tables but I have NEVER been in a restaurant where this has happened like this. It's rude and it makes me not want to return here. They did bring out a complimentary birthday tiramisu (I think) to my son with a candle on it - that was nice. All said - overpriced, mediocre food, bad service. Will probably not return anytime soon. read more

First time here in several years. My wife and self for dinner. The extremely loud thunderous music was deafening. Very close seating in main dining room. Acoustics very bad. We could hear all conversations from close three tables. Food- We ordered Calamari appetizer. Arrive with very small portion. I believe price was $16.00 and $8 glass of excellent draft beer. Dinner was an Italian sausage pizza which was delivered slightly warm not hot as pizzas usually are. We sent back pizza and came back hot. Pizza was OK, but average at best. The sausage was little tiny pieces. Summary - Very nice decor, picturesque view of water but too much thumping music. Good service. Pizza OK. Forget the calamari appetizer. They charge a convience fee to pay for their expenses as well,without telling customers. What a rip off. Will never return here. read more

Food, Service, Ambiance - all 5+ stars! We visited on Mother's Day and were accomodated immediately, sat at a lovely table near the fireplace. From the greeter to the servers, everyone was so kind and friendly. Primi: Fritto Misto - amazing, served piping hot, perfectly cooked, very light breading, loved the fried lemons. Marinara + garlic aioli were delicious. Meatballs - Tender and flavorful, served with lots of sauce for dipping. Secondi: Rigatoni Bolognese - Better than my Italian nonna (shhh.) Clams with squid ink pasta - The star of the day, thick chewy homemade pasta and perfectly cooked clams with a spicy/herb wine brodo. Cocktails from the bar made to our exact specifications. I am so disappointed in Piatti's in Mill Valley. I have been a customer for years, and I will not go there again. I was there 4/3/25 with a friend at approximately 2:30 in the afternoon. We sat at one of the high-top tables in the bar area and ordered wine and an appetizer. Most of the tables were empty. We were enjoying our food/wine and at about 4:00pm, one of the male managers came over to our table, yelled at us that we were not supposed to occupy a table for any more than 2 hours, and asked us to leave if we did not order anything. He then threw two menus at us and stormed off. Note that at least half of the tables were still empty, and there were others who were there longer than we were. We were insulted, as we are both females, and felt discriminated against. And, at the time, we were talking about ordering dinner and more wine. Needless to say, we did not. One of the female managers came over and apologized for this manager's rudeness, but it didn't take away the way we were insulted and made to feel inferior. She took out names, addresses, and emails, but we never received anything. We had paid our initial bill, and the remaining bill was very small. She comped that bill for $30.00. Geez. This was our first time here and wow the food was amazing!! It wasn't busy when we came (it was a Friday at around 2pm) and we we seated quickly and our food did not take long either. Our servers were very nice and attentive. This restaurant also has a beautiful view of the water. The lemon Ricotta ravioli was AMAZING! You can taste the lemon but it wasn't overpowering, it complemented the cheese and spinach nicely. The meatballs were good, nothing I hadn't had before. Same goes for the lasagna. The chicken Alfredo was different but really good as they use shell noodles and it wasn't swimming in Alfredo sauce. Plus it had a nice crunch from the breadcrumbs. For the desserts we tried a few things. The zeppole was good and fluffy. I loved how the sauces were on the side. The chocolate torte and ice cream was really good. The chocolate torte was soft but firm and chocolatey but not too chocolatey. The tiramisu was good and was not soggy as they can be at times. Thank you for an amazing late lunch! read more

We dined outside as it was a beautiful day. Nice view of the water. Our server was very nice and attentive. From bread to dessert, everyone enjoyed our food. It was served hot and tasty. Appreciate gluten free options too. Unfortunately, even though we enjoyed the outside deck and our meal, I don't think we will be returning as we did not like the interactions we observed between whom we believe is the owner or manager. His mannerisms toward our server were very abrupt and rude. This wasn't behind the scenes interactions, it was right in front of customers. A customer should never observe that once and definitely not multiple times. As a former server, I have no patience for disrespectful managers. read more

It's amazing how a delicious pizza can lift your spirits and make all the problems of the world disappear (if only for a few hours). That's what happened when I ordered pizza for pick-up the other day from Piatti. We're currently on week 2 of shelter-in-place/house-arrest. For the most part, this stay-at-home mandate has been tolerable. Cabin Fever hasn't quite kicked in yet. In fact, I've been doing more cooking, reading, binge-watching, catching up with family/friends, etc. But I won't lie, I sometimes get restless. And sometimes I just don't want to cook. And I miss the social connection with peers and neighbors. So I finally decided to listen to my better/hungry angels and order some Piatti pizza and invite a few neighbors over for a bite and a beer. After all, what connects people more than pizza, right? Don't worry - we all kept a safe 6-foot distance from one another. Ordering the pizza was easy. The restaurant currently has a special takeout menu with curbside pickup. Each of their 12 inch pizzas is $18. You can give your payment info over the phone, and then pick up your pizza 20 minutes later without even leaving your car. Easy peasy. They also offer Family-Style meals for 4-6 people, as was as Piatti "provisions packages" (meant to heat & eat, store or freeze). And if you're thirsty and don't want to hit up the grocery store, Piatti also offers discounted beer and wine (including $9 bottles of house label wine). Long story short, my impromptu Piatti pizza party for me and my neighbors was the best thing I've done in a while. It was nice to feel human again and to share yummy food & drinks, good conversation, and laughter. So big shout-out to Piatti for providing our apartment building with much needed sunshine during this dark & gloomy time. read more

A friend recommended the Garlic Prawns on ciabatta. Wonderful! The sauce was so good we sopped it up with the warm bread we were served. I ordered the Spinach-Ricotta Ravioli, my wife, the Squash Blossoms Pizza. We both loved our dishes. The ravioli had a rich white sauce with lemon and parmesan. Having just returned from Italy, we were keen to compare the pizza to our favorite from Naples. We watched the chef putting pizza into the wood-fired oven, and liked watching him work. The pizza was first rate, though slightly charred (our waiter mentioned that and offered to get it replaced, we said it was fine). For dessert, we ordered the special, a pumpkin bread pudding with vanilla gelato and salted caramel sauce. Outstanding! We're glad we ordered it instead of our usual chocolate choice. The gelato helped smooth out the dish, and the sauce was excellent. We didn't really taste much pumpkin, though, and wouldn't have known there was pumpkin in it if it wasn't in the name. Still, a lovely end to our meal. A few missteps, all on the service end: The waiter seemed a bit pushy when he realized we weren't ordering drinks, or even salads. We knew how much food we wanted, and he seemed very slightly put out when we weren't going for more. We also noticed there were two prices for both the pizza and the ravioli, we assumed for different sized portions. After we ordered, we realized that the waiter didn't ask us about the sizes we wanted. When we asked him afterwards, he said he assumed that since we hadn't ordered a salad, he put in the order for the larger sizes. I think it would have been better for him to have asked since we didn't specify. Finally, someone (not our waiter) asked us if we wanted to take home the other half of the pizza (see! we knew how much food we'd eat!). We said, "Yes!". He whisked it away, and that was the last we saw of it. When we asked our waiter, he searched for it, and when he couldn't find it, had the chef make us a new small one. Nice save! read more
