I love this place , they have the best pastries and durian drink . Every time we come to temple city we always stop by

I came in the afternoon and there weren't a lot of people. They have a lot of tables inside and a few outside. I got the mixed fruit delight and I was hoping that there would be more fruit in it for the price. It was mostly coconut milk. Not saying that it tasted bad I was just hoping for more for the price.

Honestly this place hasn't changed much from 10+ years ago! Coming here for their food is pretty mediocre. I tried their crunchy chicken fried rice bowl and beef and rice dish and while the beef was good, the chicken dish was practically flavorless and tasted as if you were just eating straight up gluten. The place is definitely better for a quick grab and go of their purple rice jellies or tapioca drinks! Also, there is no ac or wifi and their service in the area isn't great. Not a great place to do study/do work.

Bubble Waffle

My first time at the Temple City Phoenix Kitchen location after the San Gabriel one closed, and I was so happy with the experience. Ping was an amazing server, so kind, welcoming, attentive, and full of great recommendations. We ordered the minced chicken with seaweed and fried egg, Thai flavor seafood soup, noodle soup with pork, beef king pao, and sticky rice, and everything was absolutely delicious. The portions are definitely worth the price, and the lemon iced tea was so refreshing. The ambiance also made the meal even better. There was plenty of seating, the benches and chairs were comfortable, and the music was kept at a low enough volume to easily enjoy conversation during the meal. For my birthday, Ping brought us a bubble waffle, which was such a sweet surprise and so good. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish, and I will definitely be back!

I was craving some good ole wonton noodle soup and ordered online for pickup and it was deeeeelicious. The wonton's were huge!!!! I wish it came with more noodles or had a option to add more noodles for an extra charge.

my family can always rely on this place for late dinners. prices are good, dishes are great, and service is incredible!

The beef noodle soup is a 5 star. The braised pork with vegetables- 2 star. The pork was too chewy and tough. Not tender at all.

Soup dumpling/ Xiao long bao - This was okay, skin was a little thick but generous fillings with lots of soup House noodle soup - Broth was very tasty and it was a comforting soup dish, but nothing to rave about. Devil spicy beef noodle - Was expecting this to be super spicy, but honestly the spice level is just medium and it was more mala (numbing spice) than just regular spice. Overall meal portions are reasonably generous. Will return again.

Not sure why this place is called Boston Lobster, but this outstanding restaurant in the San…read moreGabriel Valley focuses on Cantonese and Vietnamese flavors. Their signature dish - their "house special lobster"- is the most flavorful preparation of lobster that one can have. The lobster is fried and the juicy bites of meat is layered with garlic, green onions, and sweetness. If you're lucky, you might get some roe, which gives extra salinity. An order of lobster presently costs $34/lb and a "small lobster" will weigh 3-4 lbs; therefore, I only order this signature dish for special occasions. Even if you don't want lobster, don't fret as the rest of the menu is equally delicious. Their "yang chow fried rice", crab and fish maw soup, beef loc lac, and clams with basil sauce are all personal favorites. I love their lunch specials as their entrees come with rice, but at a slightly lower price. The food is top notch, and it brings amazing Vietnamese and Cantonese flavors to this location in the San Gabriel Valley. For a special occasion with my wife or with a group, this is always a winning pick.

Thankfully, they were incredibly gracious and accommodating when we showed up. The food is served family style, so we got to sample a little bit of everything. The filet mignon medallions were delectable--tender, flavorful, and perfectly marinated. And the Lobster Noodles! This was my first time trying them and they absolutely delivered. The lobster was cut and fried in a way that made the meat tucked inside the shell really easy to get to, which made the whole experience so enjoyable. And that gravy... I was literally sucking on the lobster shell trying to get every last bit. So, so good. We also had a stir-fried green vegetable--possibly watercress--and it was delicious. Simple, savory, and cooked just right. I loved having something fresh and green alongside all the richer dishes. Great food, warm service, and such a fun meal to share with a group. I'll definitely be back.

But then another group of Cantonese speaking party came and refused to wait outside, so they're standing inside staring at the employee & was seated before us. So we walked in to inquire about it and their reason was, you didn't check your phone which a text popped up immediately after the employee mentioned it... indicating she just clicked the send message button while talking with us. Very unprofessional! And the overall attitude of staff helping us (surprisingly other than the non Cantonese ones) are quite rude, since we don't speak their language. I inquired about something, a male employee with plastic black frame glasses just give me a look like he don't want to address to me. He was also the one who came halfway of us eating to drop the check and tell us to pay first. Creepiest thing is he wouldn't stop staring at me trying to see how much tip I put down, which makes the dining experience even more uncomfortable.... As we are leaving the restaurant, we noticed they already purposely turned off all the light on the other half of the dining area with still many tables of customer dining trying to signal them to leave or something. The food itself is alright but with this kind of service. No thank you...

Each time I've gone or taken food to go, I feel massively dehydrated after that I get a headache if I don't drink enough water. Luckily the staff was pretty on top of refilling our waters, and they often switched out our plates for clean ones. We've been going for years, and they used to allow substitutions for the set menu. But on a recent visit, this didn't seem like it was a thing anymore.

The Peking duck is still a stand out. Depending on the amount of people we love adding the signature crispy grouper with the sweet and chill or the short ribs. I love the Chengdu Style Green Bean Jelly. It's spicy numbing with a bit of tartness. They recently revamped their menu adding a lot of new things and their drinks list has grown substantially. Their grilled on the bone beef rib is excellent and new jellyfish appetizer has a wonderful crunch. Given that this place is definitely on the higher end in terms of price, I was expecting the dishes to be a little more unique and exquisite. Peking Duck - 6/10 Pretty standard. The duck skin was crispy and fatty, which was good, but the actual meat was a little dry. The wrapper was okay, but nothing particularly memorable. Crispy Walnut Shrimp - 8/10 By far the best dish of the meal. The shrimp was lightly battered but incredibly crispy, and the walnuts were excellent and complemented the shrimp really well. The sweet melon was questionable, though. I couldn't quite understand the appeal of adding fruit to this dish. Kurobuta Pork Xiao Long Bao - 7/10 The filling was definitely up there in terms of flavor and quality, but the wrapper was far too thick for my liking. A thinner wrapper would have made a big difference. Seared Honey Glazed Cod - 5/10 Unfortunately, this was my least favorite. The fish was very fishy, the sear wasn't particularly impressive, and the sauce didn't pair well with the cod. There were also chestnuts and what I believe were shallots, neither of which I really cared for. Overall, it's a beautiful establishment with great service and very impressive presentation. Unfortunately, the flavors didn't quite match the appearance or the price point for me. The Crispy Walnut Shrimp was the standout, but the other dishes were more average than I expected.
