They gave me this old silver Impala with 300,000 miles a check engine light a tire light no airbags and warped breaks, it's so unsafe to the point I broke down on the side of the freeway, because the engine overheated. Came here to rent a Ford Focus and on the phone days prior the Caucasian (he refused to give a name not even on the documents of who we rented from, not even the owner) at the desk told me over the phone "286 after taxes and fees" when I got to the place after 2 days he specifically remembered the phone call and again said "286 after taxes and fees" he rushed me to sign and didn't do a walk down of the car. Before being "helped" a Woman had came in hoping to get her bag back from the car filled with important and expensive baby support items he REFUSED to take a minute out of his day to check with the crew if there was anything in the car and called the police for a simple request for her needing to get her baby's things. The best way to describe the man at the counter is "an NPC" if you have any problem he will only reply with "I only deal with respectable people" "Well it got you there" "it's a pre owned car" Remember how I said I was quoted 286? Without telling me he upped the price to 500 without a sound coming from his mouth about the increased. When I asked he said "that was the price I gave" when the quoted price was 286 both over the phone and in person but only received 60 USD back out of the 214 they took out of my account. When confronted he began to avoid eye contact, stumbling, murmuring, and shaking and once he ran out of ways to defend himself he quite literally ran into the back and locked the door. Because I wasn't yelling and stayed reasonable, not posing as a threat he realized he couldn't call the police as what I was saying was right. The Car, the car was... operational, it could drive but if you wanted anything more you'd have to pay for it. They kept saying "it got you there" but if you were in an actual emergency these cars can post a risk of NOT LOCKING. Nonfunctional locks, shaking car (axel wasn't aligned), broken glass, new cigarette smell as the person who deals with maintaining the car smokes, any system assist modes are forcibly shut off, gunk in glove box and all around driver/passenger seats, when using your turn signals it shut off the headlights, check engine light, tire pressure system is faulty and needs replacing, empty tank of gas. I had taken this car to my good friend who works in emissions and told me it's NOT EMISSIONS READY but yet the dash lights were off and it was "safe"? I'd trust someone I'd known for 15 years who also worked in emissions for 10 years than some guy who doesn't care about the cars. Upon trying to speak to the manager then best I can say is, don't, the best way I can describe him is "the louder one wins" when speaking to him we had told him the problems to get a reply of "even i wouldn't drive that" While my passenger and their mother was waiting outside a conversation was overheard in the lot. Charged me and my boyfriend $560 for a POS Chevy Impala. It broke down on us in california and we were completely stranded until 2AM. They also deface the VIN, which is very illegal. They don't even have a roadside assistance number, nothing. Refused to give us a replacement car, refusing to reimburse us for gas or for the hundreds of dollars we had to spend to get back. Every time we call they hang up on you or place you on hold with zero intent to call back. Worst customer service ever. I'm reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. I am not one to openly express my opinion on businesses and how they run their operations however, this company completely crossed the line with my family and I. I spoke to Paul on the phone four times prior to our pickup time with a confirmed payment of $660 however, when we arrived, we were charged way more than originally priced. Normally, I could understand this, however, the front desk worker (working at 9am on 7/14/2023) was extremely rude to my Husband and I! This man was condescending, unprofessional, and gluttonous! During our interaction, I asked to speak to Paul multiple times, whom I could hear speaking on the phone in the back office, and was told twice, "No you don't need to speak with him you can speak to me." After receiving our van, 30 minutes into our drive, both the tire light and check engine light came on. This happened again with the second van we received however, it was the tire and fuel cap sensors instead. This place would have been completely okay to rent from if it weren't for the horrible hospitality! *Still unsure if they will try and charge me for A LOT of damages ALREADY on the car! One tire was completely worn out, on our way back we stopped because we heard a weird sound. A chunk of the tire tore off and you could see the wiring from the tire. I had both of my daughters with me. That's not even the worst part, these people don't even supply you with the needed tools to change a tire. The tool we did havedidn't even fit on the bolts of the tire. We had to drive to the nearest town on that tire and waited another two hours to get the bolts (which were waaaay too tight to even get off manually) off. Worst place ever. So you can see the other reviews and other peoples experiences, I want to throw in my two cents. This past weekend I rented a Chevy Suburban and took it down to Rocky point Mexico. The SUV was not top of the line pristine and it had small unimportant/cosmetic issues, but it did get me to Mexico and back without breaking down and definitely saved the weekend trip for me and my friends. So when it comes to the vehicle itself, easy 10/10. Pricing wasn't bad either, I paid around $900 ($200 upfront and 700 at time of pickup since it was a reservation) for an 8 seater SUV for a 3 day trip (Friday-Monday) and that's with unlimited mile usage. at the time of this review I'm under 25 and no other car rental company would let me rent a car for border crossing to Mexico and so this company came through for me. The main complaint I see from other reviewers is customer service, when you come here do not expect the standard fluttery customer service you get when you go to other establishments, they're very upfront here and don't care for BS. If you come here wanting to rent a car and you talk to the staff as how you would want to be talked to, all is good and you'll have a good time. They were polite to me the entire time, albeit it felt a bit rushed however I'd rather have fast service than slow service. Let's face it--if you need to use a company like this, you have bad credit, have no functioning credit card or you're up to no good. The rental locations are shabby and unwelcoming and the service no better. If you plan to leave the Phoenix region, make sure you tell them where you will be traveling in advance. We paid for unlimited mileage and reasonably believed that our destinations were none of their business. We went further than they expected--to northern CA and NM--and when we got back, the proprietor nearly called the police, yelled and screamed, and tried to add $650 penalty for, um, stealing. We paid a roughly $650 surcharge for our extra so-called zones and didn't get our $600 deposit back. All told, I'm pretty sure we ended up paying more than the car's value. About that car. It was a red Chevy Impala, around 2010, with over 250K on its ticker. No remote, broken mirror control, 24% oil and a leaky tire. Super tinted windows made it difficult to drive at night. Rubber seals around doors and trunk were loose and flapping around. Rain gathered in one door, apparently though a poor window seal, and sloshed around through most of our trip. Started out this way -- agent answered but the first part of his "greeting" (if you can call it that) was cut off, as happens from time to time when using a cell phone. Umm well sorry, the first part of the answer didn't come through so I was just confirming before I wasted your time. If this is how they treat you while trying to make a reservation - I can't imagine how they treat you AFTER you become a customer. This representative cost them $300 in rental revenue. So after getting the fee, I felt free to give them a BIG "no thanks" even though their weekly fee was actually halfway decent.
