This place doesn't even deserve one star. I was in need of a vehicle right away and because this place takes cash and Debit Cards as a form of payment I decided to use them because the forms of payment were convenient for me. Nothing about my experience with this company was convenient. They hooked me up with a 2006 impala trap car probably purchased at an auction or maybe even stolen for all I know. This vehicle looks like it has been in the police impound about a dozen times the interior was from a 1970s station wagon it was the color of dog shit, the headlight didn't work in the front and to top it off they sent me on my way with the vehicle infested with drug paraphernalia and drugs. I have attached a photo of five pills that upon doing my research, it is highly likely that they are fentanyl pills. It would only make sense because I found a piece of tinfoil beneath the driver seat with dark tracks and melted pill on it, and I don't think people do their prescriptions this way. I have reported my findings to Maricopa county Police Department. I'm also recording my findings to the Better Business Bureau and I have a Scheduled phone call tomorrow with a reporter from F1 news to discuss my findings, and the way I was treated by their staff upon returning the car. They had the audacity to tell me they inspect their vehicles before renting them. I wouldn't doubt if the rest of the vehicles they rent contain the same contents that I found forewarning to any future renters who are looking for a good deal, a good deal isn't worth getting pulled over because you have a broken headlight and a reasonable cause for the search and they find something that's not yours and having to prove their innocence it's definitely not worth a good deal. The risk isn't worth it , I'm grateful I decided to leave my 3 year old at home with a sitter when I picked the vehicle up. This company will reap the consequences of, what they put through me because I am determined that no one has to feel robbed and at risk of losing everything because they put their trust in a sloppy company operated by lying , thieving and trashy employees. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE!!! They told me the price was going to be much cheaper than it ended up being and I paid about 500 dollars for a 2012 Chevy for 2 days. The price they tell you online does not include taxes and fees no matter how many times they tell you otherwise on the phones. Also, they charged me for being under 21 even though my id in fact states that I am almost 22 years old. The man at the counter tried to argue with me about this saying I was under 21. If I could give 0 stars I would! At first we thought we got a good deal. This was our first family vacation as a blended family. On top of that my husband is 100% disabled from the Army with PTSD. This trip was horrible because of this vehicle we got from this company! My husbands PTSD kept coming on because of this vehicle. The state trooper even said he is surprised they allowed this vehicle off the lot. The light for the license plate was out. So the police officer gave us a warning because he saw it was a rental. So when we got pulled over I called to speak to the after hours and the man on the other end was so rude! He said the cop was being Irrational and that no cops should ever pull someone over for that! He said the cop was just looking to pull people over because it was the day before Fourth of July. Well when we could stop at a rest area to check it out we did. And the cop was right the light was out! So this was 1st anxiety problem for my husband. He was afraid we would constantly get pulled over for this. Not a fun 5 hour trip with our kids. Then July 4th was good no issues July 5th we went to the beach and we thought we wouldn't be able to come back to Arizona because the car would not turn over! It took 5 mins for this car to start! So now here we are #2 anxiety for my husband! Then yesterday July 5th makes #3 anxiety issue with my husband because the car would not start for us to leave six flags!!!! We finally got it to start and tons I mean tons of black smoke came out of the vehicle. Then this morning we didn't think it would start at all! We started it and it gave us problems but started. Not a fun way to have a vacation! Now let's get to today July 6th. I called the company at 10:49am to let them know we where headed back to Az and got into some traffic. The guy that answered the phone was the same guy that told me the police officer was wrong. Well he told me it's ok if your running late just call us 20mins before you get here and you will be ok. So we drove the 5 plus hours scared we would make it because the car was acting up. I was driving the car and my husband decided to have me pull over because of how the vehicle was running. We did pull over and I got out and my husband got in the driver seat and then the car just stopped running! Thank god it's started back up! I tried to tell him about the issues we had and he said that's funny because the car started right up after you turned it off just now! So I'm a liar? My kids are liars? CHEAP AND DANGEROUS OUTFIT! We had 4 nieces and nephews, ages 12-15 coming into AZ for 2 weeks. We only needed this rental for 1 week and got it the 2nd week of kids' stay. We wanted to use it for a movie night at the Glendale drive in, taking kids to overnight stay in Scottsdale hotel and a water park too. Fancy was not needed ~~ BUT SAFETY IS IMPORTANT! When I contacted Phx Car Rental a month before the kids arrival, I said I need a car just to transport our underage family members as stated above. I said "I don't need brand new, I need space". "Your cars seem really reasonable for rentals, are they okay to drive children? dogs? Are they safe?" Jerk at PCR said, "Do you want fancy or do you want transportation around AZ" "We fix our cars here" ... or something similar in meaning. My husband drove the car home into the West Valley in AZ. Part of the dash board was missing, brakes were not easy to press, so he thought it was because they were not power brakes. Ok not a fancy car but it will do with our needs with the kids. Car had a FOUL SMELL, DIRT, FRENCH FRIES, OREO COOKIES, UNDER THE SEATS. The seats in the back did not easily lower to get out of the 3rd row. Kids had to climb over the erect seats to get out of the car. My niece and I had to spray the upholstery with a freshener, vacuum the cloth seats & carpeting. Oreos were getting stuck in the vac machine. French fries still has ketchup on them! Absolutely a DISGUSTING way to give a car to a customer. My husband was told the Ford Expedition was the only size available for us the day we came. There was no key fob so we used a key to "lock the car doors". The driver's side locked but as we learned harshly no other doors locked on the car. The trunk was ajar when we came back to it, the children's belonging for the pool, a new radio, towels, swim suits.... gone. Thank goodness it was a VERY small trunk and not much could fit in it. When we dropped off the car 2 hrs before due time, my husband told A 40 ish yo man behind the desk of the incident and the condition of the car we received. He did not care. He crossed his arms and He had a planned speech that he gave to customers. I think this is a case -- and all other customers -- to file a COMPLAINT WITH AZ STATES' CONSUMER PROTECTION / FRAUD BOARD. The cars there are not safe or reliable. And they are very rude and charge you a ridiculous amount for even one day. My husband and I needed a last-minute vehicle for our 1 week vacation in Arizona after our original rental with a different company fell through. My husband found Phoenix Car Rental after doing an online search and thought it sounded like a good deal. He was originally quoted $289-389 for the rental. When we went to the office, we picked out a vehicle that was $389. The owner asked for his ID and debit card. Assuming it would be $389, we didn't bother looking over the receipt before walking out. Later, we noticed it said $488. One line item of $488, no itemization of taxes/fees etc. Upon returning the vehicle, my husband inquired about this and the owner lost it. He began yelling profanities, making racist remarks towards my husband, telling him to go back to where he came from, the list goes on. Our religion and my husband's ethnicity were attacked simply because we wanted an explanation of our bill. On top of that, the original quote he verbally gave us for keeping the car an additonal day went from $60 to $120 when we were trying to return it, calling us liars saying that he never said $60. In the end, he refused to let us pay the remaining amount due of $120, threw my husband's debit card in his face, told us to get off his property and that he would send what we "owed" to collections. This place is a total scam. They try to get as much money as they can out of you. The vehicles they rent are not even worth the price they are charging. Our car had stains, the check engine light was on the whole time, as well as a message saying to change the oil, which we were told to ignore, the key was terrible, etc. We were also told we couldn't leave the state because the police would pull us over.? Secondly, I called before my trip to confirm that everything was in order, and Ed (the guy I spoke to over the phone) was incredibly nasty (especially when I had asked about the condition of the vehicle, which really seemed to set him off), but since I had already made a non-refundable deposit, I proceeded to use their services once I had arrived. Third, after I was assured on several occasions that I would receive a ride back-and-forth from the airport to their offices and they refused to cover the cost of doing so, they were extremely rude once again. Sadly, I discovered all the negative reviews after my own horrioble experience with them. Everything said on both this website as well as the BBB website is true. Cars are beat-up - bodies with dents, scratches, windshields with multiple dings in them. Mileage was 140K+. Even though we were shocked at the condition of the Chevrolet offered, we literally didn't know what else to do but take it. Fortunately we didn't have to go far that day, but my husband was not comfortable driving it on the highway more than 60 MPH. I called to see if we could exchange it and was told yes for about $100 more. When we went to exchange it an employee - possibly the owner or manager - litterally yelled at us. Absolutely no customer service skills. Even though there were dozens of cars on the lot, the only car offered us was a super-sized Suburban for a whopping $240 more!! (We were also advised if we didn't take it, there would be no refund of the $484 charged for the original 10 day rental evcen though we had it for only 2 days.) This second car also had scrapes and scratches on it as well as dings in the windshield. They have you over the proverbial barrel so we wound up keeping the second car for 6 additional days. When we returned the car after just 8 days we were told there would be no adjustment to the rate. Unlike "real" car tental companioes where you pay for actual days/miles driven Phoenix RAC's policy is to give not adjustments. Moral of story: DO NOT RENT FROM PHOENIX RAC!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

I SERIOUSLY CAN NOT BELIEVE I DID NOT READ THE REVIEWS FOR THIS BUSINESS! Everything that the other reviewers wrote is exactly the experience I had with this business. I was charged $541 for a week. The car was not the car I was suppose to get. Being they were closing in 30 minutes and I was very much in need of a vehicle immediately I succumbed to the crappy car I was given. I had the car for less than 24 hours and went back to Phoenix Car Rental thinking I would have no problem trading it out because of several safety reasons I had concerns about. The right side review mirror would not work. The driver window would not go up. The glove compartment completely fell on my passengers feet as we were driving. The breaks are faulty. The transmission pulled. And the car was filthy with obvious body issues that looked as though it had been put through a vise. Leaving it looking like it came from " Mad Max- Thunderdome". Once I returned to the business with the car and EXPRESSED my concerns ' Ed ', the person that handled my rental immediately began yelling at me. His vernacular was nothing less than vulgar with profanity as his only means of speaking the English language. Including attacks directed at me as a person. ED stated " its a used car, you get what you pay for ". I ignored being called a mother*&#!!! and other superlatives about myself and tried to get into a different vehicle. When I told ED he did not need to yell and scream at me for I was not at him, he became more excitable. As my friend and I exited the building we had four men come upon us in an aggressive manner. A very very large obese man whose size alone can be construed as aggressive plus other guys that were working on cars with tools in there hands as they approached. Having to get myself to an MRI immediately I had no choice but to leave yet, I did call 911. The police said this was not an emergency and sooner or later an officer would show up. I needed to go to my appointment and later returned to Phoenix Car Rental with my brother only to be told I was not getting any money back nor a rental. $200 of my funds were given in cash and ED told my brother I never gave him any money that I was a liar. I have no recourse but to do a dispute with my bank and hope that VISA finds all of this a reason for my funds to be returned to me. If I could give it 0 stars I would. These me are rude, demoralizing towards women, demean women and "their period" as the 3 men in the office went on and on making disparaging remarks. Then.... I got the car. They changed the price between walking to the van and back and took advantage of the needed rental. I paid an extra $200.00 for a nicer van in better condition. I got behind the van and left. The van was shaking and the nose coming for the transaxle was awful. In addition, the horn didn't work, a seatbelt was broken, the passenger window would not go up and down (there was only 1 working window in the whole 15 seater van. I called the company, as per the rental agreement. The told me nothing was wrong with the car and refused to replace the van. This was on Thursday I drove it a short time on Friday. Same issue. Again, called the company and they refused to fix or replace it. On Saturday it sat all day. On Sunday we attempted again to drive it and barely made it home. Once again I requested a van and was refused. This was not safe to drive. The rental was due back Monday and I called them to pick it up. I had to threaten to have the car towed, after this man verbally threatened and attacked me via text message.... BEWARE...they are renting totaled cars! read more
