[Price]: I booked an intermediate car (Toyota Corolla or similar) via Costco Travel and the initial quote was approximately $108 for a 9-hour rental. [Process]: Alamo offers an online check-in process. Once completed, I was able to go directly to the car pickup line at the rental car center and skip the self-service kiosks and counter. Alamo is located at the Rental Car Center and our party took the PHX Sky Train to get there. I showed the staff my reservation confirmation and was able to choose any available cars in a specific row. I ended up with a Chevy Malibu. Before driving out of the exit gate, travelers need to show their driver's license and the credit card used to book the car. The return process was very straightforward. I simply parked & a staff member scanned a code on the car - that was it. [Conclusion]: Another smooth experience with Alamo and I am sure I will be using them whenever I need to rent a car again.

We had no food, were stuck at a closing for 6 hours garage, and were over 2 hours from where we were staying. Never once did someone say let's help you find somewhere to stay. Not one person called us back. Not one person checked if we were safe for the night The only reason we made it out? A complete stranger drove all 7 of us 90 miles and helped feed our kids. When we finally got to the flagstaff airport, they suddenly "found" us a car--after telling us all day that wasn't possible. Still no follow-up even though I have emailed and called multiple times. Still no refund. we had to pay an additional 290$ out of pocket and we missed out once in a lifetime trip to the park ( we flew from Philly) This could have ended very differently. They have NO safety plan in place for if something goes wrong when you are visiting tourist locations in their serving area .

Most recently, I rented a car for a week and after taking the train to the rental car center, I was able to skip the desk and head straight to the Emerald Aisle to pick any available car. I would highly recommend setting up an account with National and taking advantage of this.... being able to skip a line at the counter is a blessing. In any event, we went to the aisle, picked out our car and were off after a brief stop at the gate to check everything. Return was also quick and painless. Josh did a thorough inspection of the car, which we returned with a full tank and in pristine shape, and we were on our way in no time. It's amazing how frictionless the experience can be, as opposed to how awful other companies (I'm looking at you Hertz) can make it. I highly recommend National.

The staff are friendly and professional. I've had them offer to give me a bit of a discount when something inconvenient happens, and I'm glad they have that authority. This last time the car I rented had a lot of fingerprints on the windows and the carpeting in the trunk of the car was stained. There was also a splotch of something in the cupholder (I didn't try to remove it so I don't know how stuck on it was). That said, it didn't affect performance of the car and overall I still enjoyed driving it. The pricing seems okay. I think there are cheaper rental companies, but some of what I pay for is convenience. I'll keep using them when I visit Phoenix for work.

I brought back the vehicle in the same condition it was given to me -- except for minor road dirt spots (it rained) which, to be clear, was already dirty and worn when I received it. Despite that, I was later hit with a cleaning fee. Let that sink in: I was given a dirty vehicle and then charged as if I returned it that way. There was no walk-around, no discussion, no opportunity to address anything at the time of return -- just a charge after the fact. That's not customer service, that's a cash grab. This whole rental was already an issue. I reserved a Tahoe/Yukon months in advance, had corporate reach out to the pickup location two weeks prior, and still got the wrong vehicle. So to then deal with this on the return side just adds to the frustration. Between the lack of accountability, poor communication, and questionable charges, this location doesn't exactly inspire confidence. I'll be disputing the fee and taking my business elsewhere.

Otherwise, you may end up paying significantly more than expected.

Grateful for Enterprise. I had rented a car while on a work trip from PHX. It was HOT (122°…read moreaccording to the car). I was alerted by the car when I turned it on that there was a flat when I was at the hotel. I called my company's travel agent because I didn't know what to do and had declined the insurance and roadside assistance. The travel agency said to call enterprise so I did. They were so kind and arranged for AAA (which I personally don't have) to come change the tire. The driver and enterprise kept checking in to ensure I was okay. When they arrived they discovered it was just a donut in the trunk but inflated it and put it on the car. I was told not to go over 50 mph. Well that's hard when you have to take the freeway anywhere. So I called enterprise and they immediately reserved me a car 3 miles away and I took backroads to get there. They didn't have any cars available when I arrived. But a lady dropped her car off, the agent working immediately checked it in, cleaned it, and gave it to me. I was able to safely continue my trip in my new car. Great customer service and no extra fees!
