May 8, 2026 - After waiting in line at Budget for 42 minutes and seeing no line at Sixt, I went for it. In less than 10 minutes I had several questions answered and a SUV in the same size/class for the same price! Thank you Manny/Mansour for your assistance. I looked and a couple of those in line at Budget ahead of me were still waiting there. I could've save an hour or more if I'd gone to Sixt initially. Thanks Sixt!! read more

We rented a BMW luxury sedan for our trip to Scottsdale. Upon arrival at Phoenix Skyharbor, we proceeded to the Syxt counter and after the usual admin procedures, our rental was shiny, beautiful and ready. The attendants at the airport were very courteous and efficient. The car performed perfectly throughout the entire time we were in Phoenix. Upon return, a superb attendant by the name of Uryia made us feel like VIPs as we brought the car back. Smile on her face, quick and thorough return, and her attitude and attention made this perhaps the best interaction with a car rental agency ever. Good on Syxt. read more

I have used SIXT rentals many times with a great experience. I rented the car in Arizona and when we were driving on the freeway a chip rock hit the windshield and chipped it. As we kept driving it began to crack. When we dropped off the vehicle, I specifically mentioned this to the technician who checked us out. All he said was "I see that". We had a flight to catch, and I figured I would connect with them when I got home. I received an email from them and a bill for almost $1200. I reached out to SIXT to connect with them on this issue, the same day. I do not feel that this is reasonable. No call back and I even emailed them with my information. I ended up paying the balance, because I was concerned I would go to collections over this. I am a responsible person and I was very disappointed that a conversation was never had but the invoice was sent. Also - Look at the breakdown of the invoice. Admin fee? $200. I will no longer use SIXT for my rentals. read more

Buyer Beware. I recently rented a vehicle from SIXT, first time ever, and it was a disaster. Firstly, the vehicle and almost 40,000 miles with many dents and scratches when I picked it up. I didn't want to be held responsible for the previous damage, I took several photos before leaving their parking leaving the lot. I only put on 79 miles over several days definitely had no accidents and yet was billed $600 in a claim for damages. I sent in my photos to no avail. Watch out ! read more

SIXT is always the best options for vehicle rentals in the greater Phoenix area. The best vehicles for the price, and the service is terrific. Over the past few years I have rented Sixt vehicles across the US and had good experiences each time. Originally I had doubts thinking that they were a low level rental car company. I was wrong. Sixt is very competitive with companies like Dollar, Budget and Thrifty and close to Hertz and National which are more expensive. My most recent Sixt experience was about a month ago here at PHX for a 6 day rental. They gave me a Toyota Camry hybrid that got excellent mileage. The cars exterior body and interior windows could have been cleaner but that is the norm with most rentals. Check out was easy along with the return. A lady there by the name of Sherry was helpful and professional. I have had good customer service experiences at other locations too. I give Sixt a 3 score because they met my expectations. While it may be the new kid on the national block they have succeeded well. I have no problem doing business with them. Unfortunately I forgot to take any pictures. read more

I rented a car in June for the weekend. I thought I might be a little late in returning the car. I called and was told by the representative that I had to pay an extra $130 dollars for being late. He made me pay over the phone with my debit card. When I got back to the car return office. I was Informed by the representative at the desk that I should not have had to pay that amount because the car was not due back until the next morning at 1o am. He advised me to call the corporate office, and they should give me back my $130 dollars. I touch base with them, and they said they would investigate. In mid-July they got back with me and said it was a legitimate charge, and they never gave me an explanation for it. I will never use Sixt car rental again. So, car rentals beware read more

NEVER rent with Sixt! Biggest fraud scams. Sadly, I thought they were a great rental place. I rented a car from Germany to Swiss, we were so careful with driving the car especially in new country. we dropped the car off and 1 week later we received a bill for $2K under rim Damages. Sadly, we havent taken any pictures of under rims but I'm going on any SIXT sight to warn people don't get scammed by them. read more

I was stuck in a painfully slow line at Budget, where someone ahead of me said he had been waiting for 45 minutes with little progress. Frustrated, I walked over to SIXT--and thank goodness I did. The Marc was an absolute superstar. He greeted me immediately, worked quickly, and had keys in my hand within five minutes. The contrast in service was incredible. SIXT delivered exactly what I needed: speed, professionalism, and genuine customer care. If you value your time, choose SIXT! read more

AVOID SIXT LIKE THE PLAGUE. THEY WILL CHARGE YOU FOR DAMAGE YOU DID NOT CAUSE. My experience started out quite positive, the rental pickup process was fast and easy, and the car was great. The return process was equally quick and easy, and after inspection, I was told everything was good and was sent the final invoice. Three days later, Sixt sent me a claim of damages for a tiny clear coat scratch on the edge of the door. I did not cause this scratch and never saw it while the vehicle was in my possession. Also, the scratch was so minor that it could be cleaned up with a microfiber cloth and polishing compound, by hand, as part of the wash. I know this because I did exactly this all the time as a former auto body shop employee. Sixt is trying to claim this "damage" will cost $490 to repair. This is conveniently $10 under most insurance deductibles. I suspect they are trying to milk their customers for as much as they can while avoiding insurance being involved, because anyone with any experience in the field will recognize the absurdity of their claims. After leaving a one star review on Google, I received a comment from Theresa, the branch manager, telling me to forward my case information to service@sixt.com. I did this, and two weeks later, I have received no response, even after follow up emails. Meanwhile, the claims management department is not budging, and has addressed none of my requests for clarification on how they arrived at their number and what "repairs" it would pay for, as their claim cited no actual estimate for repairs, no billable parts or labor, only a number for the damage, a document fee, and a "depreciation fee." I suspect this practice of damage fraud is baked into their business practices. It seems like an awfully cheap way to ensure they never have repeat customers. This company is a scam factory hiding behind flashy marketing and nice cars. STAY AWAY read more

Called ahead to customer service to see if I could rent with just a debit card (no credit card) prior to making the booking. Was told several times it would be fine so long as I brought a passport of proof of address. Made the booking, paid for it, and went to pick it up only to be told that I couldn't pick it up without a credit card. Then the people at the counter told me they'd cancel the booking for me and refund me within 1-2 business days since I wouldn't be allowed to pick up the car. I never received a refund, apparently because they never cancelled it! Now I'm being charged almost $300 for a rental I never even laid eyes on. Called in today to ask for my refund again and was told that no managers were available to approve it, and to try again on Monday. Amazing customer service 10/10. Hope to one day see that $300 you guys swindled from me again! read more

I'm a frequent customer at the PHX airport location, and most of my experiences have been excellent. The agents are consistently courteous and helpful, and although I've had a couple of less‑than‑ideal visits, the management team--especially Cora--has always gone above and beyond to make things right. Their responsiveness and genuine care for their customers are the main reasons I continue to return. The premium car selection is also very strong. My only wish is that there were better perks for frequent customers. Overall, it's a great rental company that I'm happy to keep coming back to. read more

Rented a car to Sedona. It was not properly maintained. Despite being in a dusty climate windshield wiper fluid was empty. Drove 2 hrs to Sedona where key fob battery warning light went on. I had concerns about being stranded and took several hours out of my trip to contact algorithmic customer service. They had no options other than for me to replace battery. Didn't offer to send one out. Said they wound send video on how to do it. Never did. Spent time calling back. Finally got the email (after YouTube it myself). Then finding Ace hardware for the battery. While it was not expensive, it took time away from the vacation. I was told to contact customer service for reimbursement. Three emails and multiple calls later with at least 3 photos of receipt sent. I still have no reimbursement 3 weeks later. Disappointed with status of car (premium model) and maintenance and lackadaisical response to addressing the issue. Definitely NOT impressed. read more

Beware of SIXT Rental Car - DO NOT RENT Like many other reviewers, I was hit with a Damage Claim for preexisting damage (TWICE). I rented from SIXT in 4/2025 and 7/2025, both experiences were exactly the same and resulted in unjustified damage claims approximately a week after the rental car was returned. Scam Details: 1. They advertise for standard rental cars (Nissan, or similar) at a competitive or slightly lower rate. 2. Free upgrade (BMW or similar). Not sure if they even have Nissan or similar in their fleet, only luxury cars. 3. Upsale for their insurance. If you decline and tell them you already have rental car coverage, they will persist and tell you that your existing insurance is inferior protection. 4. Preexisting Damage: Beware of their pre-inspection app, take/save pics of the car, and make sure you save copies on your device. Carefully inspect and photograph car's interior and exterior for preexisting damage. If you use their app only, the photos may not upload to their platform and may not save to your phone (check your cloud account). 5. Rental Return: Carefully inspect car, take/save photos, and make sure your vehicle inspection report clearly indicates no new damage. Sign and retain a copy of rental receipt for your records. 6. Expect Damage Claim approximately 7 - 10days later. It will indicate that new damage occurred to the vehicle during your rental period and that it was discovered sometime after your return inspection was conducted. Carefully complete damage report and attach all photos/final return receipt. Reflect on scam steps 1 - 5, luxury cars cost more to repair, if you used their app to photograph any preexisting damage, you may not have the pics (check your cloud account), and you have likely declined the insurance upsale. 7. Expect Repair Bill- you will receive a determination that you are responsible for the damage and a repair estimate. Carefully review all docs for accuracy. Since this appears to be their business model, the report is a template of the previous victim and may contain errors, including important details like rental dates and report completion dates. 8. Dispute claim, do not pay or authorize payment for repair, and carefully monitor your credit card statements for any additional/unauthorized charges. 7. Keep all docs, pics, and correspondence. They will close claim with "Hold Harmless" language or continue to demand payment, including pursuing collections. Additional Info: There are thousands of BBB Claims for exact same behavior that I described. There are lawsuits and money judgments for customers who suffered a derogatory collections entries on their credit reports. This company has highly suspicious business practices. Damage claim was filed for damage I did not cause. Don't rent from this place. I called their claims department and said they were closed during what the automated message said was during their business hours of M-F 8am - 9pm. I emailed them as well and no response. I also emailed the service dept from what I saw in other yelp complaints and nothing. I went back to the counter where I rented the vehicle and they said to contact the claims department, which is closed during their stated business hours. I've come to this airport once a week for the last four years and rent a car, and I've never been pinned for damages I didn't cause from the other car rental places I go to at this airport. I found a news video about this specific Sixt office that wrongfully charged an elderly woman for damages she didn't cause and Gary Harper from On Your Side contacted them and they dismissed her claims. If Sixt believes those claims were caused by this lady why would they easily dismiss them when they get heat from the press? read more

I will say this is by far the best experience I have ever had with a car rental. I did an early check in through the website and when I arrived, I just showed them my ID and card. They showed me the exact car I would get and asked if I was okay with that. No pressure sales for add ons or insurance. He said make sure the gas pump was full when we came back and that was all we did at the counter. Walked up to the car, scanned the QR code to post pictures of any damage and then out the door. Tracey checked us out of the parking garage and also back in when we dropped the car. She was quick, friendly and informative. I was extremely happy with the whole process and how fast both picking up and dropping off went. I will definitely rent from them again. Great company! read more

Who the heck writes a negative review for a rental car place, I thought. These people have too much time, I thought. Now I'm writing my own and I wish I would've paid more attention to the reviews. WARNING This place will pin someone else's damage on you. Don't let them. Unlike every other rental place, SIXT doesn't do a walkthrough with you, nor do they advise you to do it. I rented a BMW X6. I was handed the keys by the cleaning staff after a rushed car wash and told it was right around the corner. As I walked up to the car I noticed some pretty significant damage to the car. II was in a hurry so I didn't say anything or take photos. Surely damage that noticeable would have been noticed and documented. Stupid me, it supposedly wasn't and they blamed me for it upon return. I was furious. I took a day off of work to speak to someone all up the chain to get some to take some kind of responsibility or decency to help me identify the real cause of the damage to prove it wasn't me. I even went back to the branch since their number isn't publicly available. They said they would review the airport cam footage and call me. Nobody called. Probably didn't bother looking either. When I asked why they missed that damage or why nobody told me to do a self assessment they always fell back on "well they tell you upon checkout it was in your rental agreement." Oh yeah, the infinite fine print document they rush you to sign on a tiny credit card kiosk when you're checking out. And went I went back to talk to the manager I was listening to the reps check out people. Not a single mention of self walkthrough was mentioned. None. Oh, and the car was already rented to someone else. How convenient! Probably going to scam that renter for the same damage too. They have nice cars but F this company. Take your business elsewhere. But if you do rent from them don't forget to check and document every single tiny thing or else you'll be another one of their victims. read more

Look up the class action lawsuit Sixt lost. They are still at it. They hit me with a false damage claim, just like everyone else here. $400 for a nonexistent scratch. OMG, how is this company still in business?? @ They offer to accept a photo of your driver's license so you don't have to stop at the counter ... but the link on their website doesn't work. @ The signage directing you out of Sixt's garage at Phoenix airport is so bad I couldn't find the exit. Well, I actually did find it but it was so badly signed I thought it was a dead end. @ The one star is for Mark at the sign-in counter ... very nice guy who upgraded me to a Camry Hybrid. My God that car rocks! The car was in great shape and fortunately there was a nice garage guy there to show me how to start my first-ever hybrid. UPDATE MAY 2025 Though the company posted an "Oh boohoo, we're so sorry, we want to make it right" reply to my review, they never followed through. Unfortunately, the 1 star review stands. read more

Be very careful! They charge exorbitant damage fees for existing damages. The check out and check in process has no oversight. I rented a car that had damages, multiple scratches on every single wheel. About a month after returning the car they wanted $650 for "A" scratch on one of the wheels. A scratch that was already on the wheel along with multiple other scratches. They wanted me to send pictures because of course they don't have any of their own oversight. They have lost a customer for this "scratch". I will never rent from them again. read more
