We ordered the grilled pork banh mi. They were generous in size with a good amount of meat and the French roll was perfectly toasty crusty. We were on bikes and there were racks conveniently outside. We had some trouble finding the entrance. The building concierge pointed us to the entrance but that entrance directed us outside to a different entrance. There was also the odd sign in the women's restroom not to flush toilet paper... meaning throw it in the trash? They were also doing work in the men's room involving hammers. Other than that the sandwiches were great and service was quick and we would go back when in the area.

You come here for the food, it's a very no frills place where if you come enough times, they will get to know you. I didn't know what to order but I know I wanted something spicy so I went with the spicy lemongrass pho. With that one, you can pick your protein. I did chicken. It was so tasty and full of flavor. I was overwhelmed by the size of the bowl at first but ended up finishing it because it was so tasty, but more than that, it was comforting on a cold day. I also did the egg rolls, which were so crispy and almost too hot on my first bite of how fresh they were. I was so glad I finally got a chance to visit, it didn't disappoint!! This is the perfect cold weather, winter meal and it's so cozy on a cold fall or winter day.

Overall, a fun atmosphere with great food and drinks!

My wife and I had their preset menu (my wife is also no dairy and gluten), and with the dietary restrictions I think we got to try a phenominal variety of dishes. We had a few of their cocktails and mocktails, from the Lotus and Old Quarter as well as Life of a Showgirl and Jade. Well mixed and none too sweet; just right.

The bread seems to be a bit less than the tasting menu and the salad is ok. The sweet potato & crab is as good as I remember. The king salmon has a nice crust and the sauce is full of flavor. The curry shrimp is big and juicy for me but unfortunately, one of my wife's piece has a texture that indicates the shrimp is not fresh. The final dish is the Quail. It is unique as they remove the quail meat and replaces with duck sausage meat. No need to pick out any bones. Close out the night with Seaweed dessert. Definitely a different vibe when doing the a la carte dishes versus the tasting menu. The minor complain would be the dishes took a long time to come out. It was almost 30 mins between the crab and king salmon dishes to the curry shrimps and quail. Also took a while to get to the first two dishes as well.

There was no line when we arrived, although people gradually started coming in. The restaurant does not rely on fancy decorations. Instead, its simple and eco friendly design gives the place a relaxed and place to eat atmosphere. If you are concerned that the portions might be too large, I would say either go big or go home! The Work bowl may look big, but the portions are actually just right. The roasted bone marrow with fire was a nice touch. It was absolutely delicious. The staff were exceptionally friendly, and the whole experience felt like discovering a genuine local hidden gem. They may not have a Michelin star, but they certainly earned five stars from me. Parking is much easier to find on the weekend if you arrive early. Otherwise, the metro is only about a 10 to 15 minute walk away (Green/Yellow line at Shaw). I almost forgot to mention the broth, which deserves its own recognition. I drank every last drop because it was that good. The broth was rich, flavorful, and clearly made with cow bones. Also, you only need water. The broth alone was that satisfying.

They have bar seating that seats 10 only. I love being able to see the chefs at work while waiting for my pho. Also side note, but if you love nugget ice like I do, they have the good ice here. I ordered the Butcher's Choice which comes with brisket, a large beef rib, and beef shank. They use the wide flat pho noodles here, which is kind of rare. Usually most pho places come with the thin noodles. The broth is clean and beefy. They have sauces to add to taste, but I prefer my broth just how it comes. The cuts of beef are good quality, but the beef rib was a little difficult to eat. The only thing to make the eating experience better would be to cook the beef rib so that the meat is so tender that it's falling off the bone. Coming from California, we love our pho out here. PhoXotic does it well. I would say it's a tad expensive for what pho is, but I also understand that their ingredients are high quality and DC is an expensive place in general. Love that they have brought a little piece of Vietnam to Bloomingdale.

It comes out fast, piping hot and filling, and probably 80% of the time they absolutely knock it out of the park with the broth and meats. Every once in a while, especially when they're slammed, I'll get a faint dish-soap-like note in the bowl, but thankfully that's the exception. The biggest headache is the line. It's basically first-in, first-seated based on whatever table happens to open up, so during a rush it can feel completely unorganized. And don't be intimidated by the abrupt "what do you want?" ordering style. These guys are good people, and the cashier/manager is one of the best. I always tip here because watching the staff carry and clear those scorching bowls all day looks like some kind of iron-fist competition. They've also always been accommodating when I bring young kids, including the inevitable mess. Go with friends, but go early. Right around opening at 10 or in that lull between lunch and dinner is my move if I can manage it. This isn't the place for a leisurely dining experience; it's the place for a seriously satisfying bowl of pho, served incredibly fast. After a decade, I'm still coming back.

Although it might be my imagination, I still give it a compliment! 2. Chín, Nạm, Gàu, Gân, Sách: The cooked beef was a bit tougher, but still quite good. 3. Chè Báp: A must-try!! The sweetness of the coconut milk and the aroma of the corn complement each other perfectly, mild yet with a few highlights. 2.Chè Đậu:** The black-eyed peas were less sweet and flavorful than the corn, and the texture was thicker. It tasted bland and not nearly as amazing as the corn pudding.
