I had a craving for comfort good and being half Chinese that means a big bowl of noodle soup. Since I have yet to find a place with really good Chinese beef noodle soup, pho is my go to. We got here shortly after they opened and ordered coconut bubble teas, fresh spring rolls, and we each got a ginormous bowl of pho. The bubble teas were cool and refreshing although the tapioca bubbles seemed slightly over cooked as some were in big globs that could not make it up the straw. No worries, it was still good and I took the top off and used a spoon. The fresh spring rolls were amazing! Very fresh and light. The peanut dipping sauce really set it off! I ordered some to take home they were so delicious. My pho was everything I expected/needed it to be. Richly spiced and fragrant. I like lots of lime in mine and basil which our server brought us. I also added a fair amount of the sriracha and chili sauce until o achieve the level of spiciness I like. We spoke little as we merrily slurped our noodles and enjoyed the soup. It totally hit the spot! The portion of pho they give you is huge! I couldn't even finish half the bowl. Don't worry, they have take out containers so I'll be enjoying the leftovers later with my spring rolls! This is not a fancy place, but the service was prompt and it was very clean inside. Pho Viet is one of the more popular pho places in Milwaukee (at least from what I've been told), and I remember when I first moved out here, I happened to be in the area and saw this place. However, not knowing at that point in time whether trying Asian food in Milwaukee would kill my soul, I decided to forgo it...and never circled back until one of my Vietnamese friends recommended it. Located in Greenfield next to the fallen glory of Pacific Produce, Pho Viet is a mid-size restaurant with motivational posters decorating the walls and ample seating for families and groups. There is plenty of parking in the lot. I came here with a group of friends and we were easily able to be seated; the waiters were very patient as we waited for everyone to arrive. I had the pho tai, gau, gan, sach (pho with steak, brisket, tendon, and tripe) [$11.75]. The portion of meat and noodles was super generous, I kept digging my chopsticks in and finding more steak! However, the taste wasn't quite what I am personally used to. I do like my pho a little sweet, but this one was definitely a lot more sweet than pho I have had at other places. I think I would chalk this up to personal preference since I know there is variance in preparation. Maybe next time I would try a different entree since it looks like they have a pretty wide variety of dishes on their menu (goat hot pot, yum!). I also had a che ba mau [$4.99]. As far as I can tell, this is the only Vietnamese restaurant in town that has che on the menu...well, overall, I think there are only two places to get che, here and Bambu. I really didn't enjoy this restaurant's rendition of che ba mau, but again, maybe personal preference and what I'm used to. Most che ba mau I've had is sweet and creamy with coconut sauce, soft beans, and chewy pandan jelly layered with shaved ice. The one at Pho Viet was more like crushed peanuts, larger chunks of ice, more watery coconut, and the pandan jelly wasn't really chewy or soft...again, maybe this just isn't a style I'm used to. The servers were definitely struggling a bit the night we were there; even though the restaurant was not half full, they did seem to have quite a few takeout orders to manage as well that led to difficulty in managing the tables. The food came out quickly, but otherwise service was not very attentive and we had a hard time getting their attention to ask for more water or the bill. I understand that service has taken a hit due to the pandemic, however, so I hope they can get some more help so they wouldn't be so overwhelmed. Overall, I think I will stick with the places that are closer to me for pho since I wasn't big on the flavor profile here, but it seems to be quite popular with many Vietnamese patrons, so I would definitely suggest it to those who like a sweeter pho! What an interesting Pho restaurant! Here it goes... We received our Pho before our water. We asked 2 separate waiters 4-5 different times for our water. My favorite place when it comes to pho in Milwaukee. Been coming here for years you can always tell how amazing the pho is by the broth. What you see is the P1 Special which has all the beef, brisket, tendon, tripe. The Tendon is also amazing it's like jello where some places are very chewy. read more

For flavor, this place is hands down the best pho in Mke, and one of the best in pho restaurants anywhere. Get P1 the most classic taste combo. However I wouldn't give it a 5 star for the reputation of service it has. I understand small businesses may suffer from unreasonably eaters that find excuses to avoid paying, but I have heard and read too many stories of how poorly the owner handles the real disappointed eaters. The language they use and the demeaning message in there... I am GLAD that I have never had an order I didn't enjoy and refused to pay, not looking forward to that attitude. But I did have one experience a long time ago that a bowl of pho i ordered had a veggie bug in it and they gave me a new bowl, kind of unhappily, but only mildly so, which, I sucked up because they were probably not making money and thus not happy, and the veggie bug issue is somewhat an understandable incidence compared to other weird stuff you might see in food. The food is incredibly solid and not only holds its own when compared to other Vietnamese restaurants but shines as a beacon of deliciousness above even the elite. The Pork Banh Mi meat was grilled to perfection and bursting with flavor. The P4 - Pho with tripe, beef, tendon, and flank was expertly done, its flavors intermingling to produce a heavenly chorus of delectability. The service on the other hand was absent. Water was hard to come by with it appearing half way through the meal and forget about refills. The Pho was brought out approximately 15 min after the Banh Mi...at one point we weren't sure if they forgot about it. Checking out also took much longer than expected. This place has some of the best crab rangoonn I have ever had. They are STUFFED with filling. The Phö is also delicious as is the beef bahn mi. The ONLY reason this review isn't 5 stars is because of the waiter. He is there every time we go and literally one of the worst servers I have ever had. This last visit was the WORST. They were short staffed which I am very understanding of however he served 4 tables drinks AND entrees before he even came to get our drink order. We actually had to go up to the counter to ask the man who seemed to be the owner who apologized and was very sweet in order to get our order taken. I really wish this guy didn't work there. He and one other waiter are the only ones I have ever seen there. This waiter that we have issues with appears to be an older gentleman. So if you go.... Vegetarians - don't bother. Online, you'll see a menu overview that lists pho with vegetable broth. But alas upon ordering, I was told there is no vegetarian pho option. So I picked the only item on the menu that was specifically called out as vegetarian, and it was just okay. It was a noodle dish with tofu and vegetables, but the tofu was very oily and I couldn't eat very much of it. The place seemed very popular - we went at 1 on a Sunday and it was full from the time we got there until we left. It was a bit confusing because there's no host - you just seat yourself as you see fit, and hopefully someone working notices. Between getting a menu, water, our order taken, drinks delivered, and food delivered, we had every member of the waitstaff do something for us. There was no consistency in who our server was, so that was a bit confusing. Also, our items arrived in this order: - My husband's food order - Water - Drinks (a beer and a tea, nothing complicated) - My food, 5 minutes later. We both had food left after eating, but decided we didn't care to take it with us. Nobody asked us though, and a styrofoam container and a plastic container were just deposited on the table. This really ground my gears, because I specifically did not want a styrofoam container, and I doubt it was saved even though we didn't touch it. Overall, I wouldn't go back. read more

The only reason I give it 4 instead of 5 is the service. They have one waitress (Latina I believe) who has been here for years. Last year at some point she left the restaurant. The best Pho in town! My honest opinion! The restaurants "spring rolls" are a MUST TRY they are by far the best ones I have had to date! The service is great in a sense where I get seated quickly and frequently checked on. If I'm not getting checked on I can easily wave the waiter or waitress down and get served. The price of the Pho is well worth it with a great portion of noodles that will be sure to fill you up! Having some spring rolls with your meal will definitely make it an experience to remember. For an establishment with horrible service, I always end up doing takeout. Not anymore. I went in to pick up an order of bun bo hue and was told that I owed $15 and some cents. The menu says $12.50 so I asked for an itemized receipt. Because "the printer was jammed" he proceeded to give me a handwritten receipt. On the receipt the cost of the bun bo hue is 14.50 and the rest was tax. Why the sudden jump in price? The owner told me that he charges an extra $2 PER ITEM for takeouts! Ridiculous! I told him that it can't possibly be legal and that he should tell customers when they order. He claims that this is on the restaurant menu, but I didn't bother to look because this is not on their takeout menu or website. TIP: Pay attention to your bills everyone. You've lost my business because this is absurd. read more

Hands down, the best Pho in town that I have had the pleasure of eating. The bubble tea and Banh Mi sandwiches are also pretty damn good. When it's cold out, and you are starving, this is the place to come to. Get a hot bowl of Pho and some hot tea and it's like the ultimate comfort food experience(for those who are willing to leap beyond meat and potatoes). There are a lot of booths but what I love is that there are large tables for a big gathering of friends and/or family. Since the restaurant offers some items in large portions, this is a great way to share a meal and get lost in conversation. And, since I've never seen it ridiculously busy in here, you can actually enjoy your meal and not have to shout over neighboring diner chatter. I'm surprised at all the negative reviews on service. I've always had plenty of attention to our experience when dining here. We have never been wanting for water or tea. They dining room has always been clean and the condiment tray has never been lacking. I only wish we still lived closer so that I could visit more often. The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food offered. I almost always get two meals out of what I order because I can't eat that much in one sitting. For location, well, it's not in a bustling area, but it is easily accessible from 27th Street and conveniently attached to the best Asian market in town. read more

Flavors are super inconsistent, cleanliness is hit or miss, and on my last visit it was over $40 pre-tip for a bahn mi and two phos. Truthfully, my husband and I were on our way to Pho 27 when we realized it was closed. Bummer. But since we were on our way to Pacific Produce, we thought we'd give Pho Viet a try and it did not disappoint. True, the ambiance leaves a lot to be desired, but when I'm heading to a place like this, I'm all about the taste of the food and the cleanliness of the place. Overall it was a pretty clean place, the service left a little to be desired, but they were quick, so no real complaints. Onto the food. Well we ordered about one of everything as we were starving... a bahn mi to share, spring rolls, a porkchop rice dish, and a traditional pho. The spring rolls were good, very fresh, crispy, and nice dipping sauce - not greasy. I'd say slightly pricy for an order in my opinion, but I'd probably pay for them again, so I guess I can't complain. The best part of the bahn mi would have to be the bread. So crusty and fresh, it definitely made it. I thought it could have used a bit more either more meat in the sandwich or more seasoning/sauce or something. It was lacking a little something, but since I had fish sauce from my entree, I just used that and made it slightly more flavorful My 4 stars mainly come from my rice dish. I can't remember which one I ordered, but it was the one with pork chops and a fried egg. The pork chops were so deliciously seasoned, perfectly cooked and not dry at all. The fried egg could have been just a little less done, but certainly nothing to complain much about. My husband got the traditional pho. He said it was pretty good, but not the best he's had. He tends to like broths that contain more spices/nontraditional flavors, but otherwise he said he'd definitely eat there again. This place also has Bubble Tea which is awesome, although I didn't try it. I did notice a lot of people ordering it, so I assume it must be pretty good. I have a suspicion that many of the reviews for this place stem from people visiting Pacific Coast Asian Grocery next door. I know whats why I ended up having lunch here. Clean with good lighting. I didn't mind the two different TVs. I have at least 3 monitors of videos/rss feeds on at all times, so it felt like home to me! The portions were quite good, and I suppose onpar with the price, $9 for Pho. It tasted okay, nothing to write home about. The Bubble Tea was quite delicious though. If this were the only game in town, I'd be happy to go there, but just up the street is Pho Hai Tuyet. :-/ read more

The place is new and clean compared to the other pho joints in town. That's a plus. However, the pho is just good, not great. The first time we went, it was really good. Maybe this was because we had been desperately looking for an excellent pho restaurant in Milwaukee. We've been back several times and it hasn't been as good with each repeat visit. I don't know why. The last time I went over the summer, my friends and I had just gotten off a golf course nearby. We were starving. Service was extremely slow even though the restaurant wasn't busy. There was a gentlemen who just stood behind the counter and stared at the people in the restaurant and that was just weird. Even though we've sat for a long while, he didn't send over anyone to help us. Finally, a waitress came over to take our order. I always request no cilantro and green onions because pho places tend to sprinkle this stuff on liberally. My pho came out floating with the chopped green onions and cilantro so I had to send it back. It seemed like a huge hassle for them. Service has always been spotty but I sometimes wonder if the owners just care less about their Asian patrons. It feels like if they had to choose who to give bad service to, the Asian booth gets it because we're less likely to complain or make a big deal of the situation. I will only eat here if I'm this far south of the city and desperate for pho (and since the Pho Hai Tuyet location on 27th is closed due to a fire). Otherwise, I can wait until I get home and hit up the other Pho Hai Tuyet location on Brown Deer. read more

Bowl portions are small. Broth is not as delicious as it used to be and just packed with noodles and ratio of meat to noodles is unfortunate. If you don't believe me, see for yourself. Used to be a favorite but for a P1 at $13.50 and have a 12 small slices of meat, is just not right. I will go somewhere in the future.
