We came in on a Thursday night and we got to seat ourselves. The menu had a great variety of different foods to try, and we ended up ordering the veggie pho, the sizzling crepe, spring rolls, and the crab rangoons. The spring rolls were fresh with crunchy cucumber and firm tofu. The crab rangoons were so creamy and the wrapper had a great crunchy texture. I couldn't finish my pho fast enough, the broth was so rich and the noodles were perfect. Food was top, service was top, environment was top. I haven't eaten at Hue for years and I don't know what I was waiting for! My sister and I ordered carry out on a week night. Phone service was great! It was a short wait, maybe 20 minutes. We went to pick up our food and after a short wait, we were greeted by a lovely server and presented with our food and the bill in no time. Then we paid the bill with a different server who was also lovely. The restaurant is so cute, clean, and nicely decorated. It would be a cozy place to dine in. We ordered the beef noodle bowl and the chicken curry. Everything was very fresh!" And nicely packed! The beef was sooo tasty and the sauce was great. After so many times of driving by this restaurant, I decided to try it out with my niece who has been here several times before. As soon as we walked in the door, we were greeted by a lady who was smiling and was very, very pleasant to seat us. We decided to start with an appetizer of a shrimp summer roll, which had so many fresh vegetables, with a delicious peanut dipping sauce. I loved it so much. I actually bought a large container to go on the sauce. Moving onto my entrée I decided to go with beef and shrimp bowl with noodles. Absolutely delicious. The noodles tasted so fresh. The shrimp along with the steak they were grilled to perfection! They also had a carrot and I believe pickled daikon. It was absolutely crunchy and so flavorful. Our waitress was very nice as well. This place has been on my list to try for months (more like years), and I finally was in the neighborhood to try this place out. We didn't order anything special, just pho and a Vietnamese iced coffee. You have your standard Vietnamese food offerings and various specials. However, your choices under each category are limited (compared to other Vietnamese restaurants), but this is not necessarily a bad thing if you can make delicious food. And I, for one, was pleasantly surprised at how clean and savory the pho broth was (decent amount of meat too!) The first thing that always comes to mind when I taste any bowl of pho is, "is it sweet or no?" I grew up in a household that leaned more savory than sweet for our broths, and the pho here tasted most similar to home for me (my moms). I really enjoy Hue - every time I have it. I discovered it during the pandemic in Tosa and thank god - they had carry out. I turned my whole family on to it and friends. I was super sad when they left Tosa, but still ordered delivery often. I'm in love with their lemongrass faux meat. Combine that with a bahn mi and I'm ecstatic. They make the most interesting and complex tasting vegetarian bahn mi in town. There's no sense eating one anywhere else in town if you don't eat meat. We tried Hue Saturday night. Let me preference by saying Vietnamese is my favorite type of food and pho in particular. It wasn't super busy when we arrived but there was a large group ahead of us, so the hostess/server had to spend some time rearranging tables. Once we were seated our server took our beverage and appetizer order. We had the pork egg rolls and the rice flake shrimp. The egg rolls were crispy and well stuffed. The flavor was rich, but I didn't think the sweet chili sauce they were served with was the best accompaniment. The same sauce was served with the shrimp, which I thought that was a much better pairing. The shrimp were a decent size, crunchy and a bit sweet. I liked these. My entree was the beef pho. It came with a very small plate of bean sprouts, lime, Thai basil and jalapenos. I could definitely have used more of the sprouts and basil. The pho was good, it wasn't great. It just didn't have the complexity and silkiness of some pho. That being said, I still ate it all, so I did like it. My dining companions had the vegetarian fried rice and lemongrass seafood. There's one item to get at this place: the Friday Asian fish fry 5/5- garlic fried rice, Asian cabbage slaw with perfectly lightly fried white fish. The fish was probably one of the best I have had before for a fish fry and wish they offered more than one big piece. It's 17$ and is a must try for Hue. As for the other menu items, the stir fry noodle dish was something I could make at home and wasn't special but I'm glad the noodles or veggies were not over cooked either. The tofu spring rolls were just not good. Maybe it was a bad day but the wrapping was dry the ingredients were dry and did not seem fresh at all. I can't recommend trying this again. Great place not too far from us, we pass by it all the time and have been intending to stop by just to try it out. My husband and I finally had a free Friday night, so we popped in. There is a large bar by the entrance with ample seating if you're trying to make a quick visit. I ordered the banh mi, but I fully intend to try the pho the next visit. My husband ordered the crispy glass noodles. My banh mi was very filling and I was not disappointed. Not realizing Hue has been around for more than a decade, we stopped in for dinner thinking it was a brand new restaurant. We were able to procure two outdoor seats at the bar. Our server, Kat, was lovely and helpful. My Rice Flake Shrimp appetizer was scrumptious, and I loved the Ca Ri Do Bien Seafood Curry. Sometimes I hit the jackpot on my menu choices. We made a reservation a few days in advance (you have to call) and while there was ample seating inside the patio (first come first served) was full when we arrived. We were able to just order a drink at the bar and enjoy it at the outdoor bar area while an outdoor table opened up (less than 10 minutes). Note - even though this patio is great, this is not a pet-friendly patio/no pets allowed. Service was fast, attentive and friendly throughout the whole meal. We started with the sampler platter which included a fresh spring roll, egg rolls, crab rangoons and beef skewers. The starter was more than enough for two and everything was flavorful and delicious. For our main course our party (group of 3) shared the rice crusted shrimp appetizer, the beef Vietnamese crepe, and the chicken/rice stir fry. The appetizer was about 4 crusted shrimp (super good!). The entrees were portioned very generously and our group of 3 couldn't finish all the food and I am STILL stuffed the next day. I can't wait to get back to Hué! read more

Hue is a Bay View staple and while I've visited twice, I am left wishing it was just a bit better both times. The staff is friendly and the service is good, but the food and the value just isn't there for me. We recently stopped in for dinner, our first time in the new location. They have a new patio which I would love to check out but it was raining so we dined inside. Two of us ordered the beef Pho, one the beef & meatball Pho. The food was just okay. There wasn't a lot of flavor and although the portion was large and the noodles were good, I didn't finish my bowl because every bite was the same. Sadly I didn't touch the bean sprouts, as they were past their prime - not smart health-wise to serve. I would give the new location another chance but I would probably wait for someone else to suggest going, and not seek it out myself. This has been a bookmark for a while now and I thought that I would do my cocktail and a lunch here at the Wauwatosa location only to find out that they closed 2 months age so Bay View here I come. Parking can be tough in Bay View and why I don't venture there a lot but I got a spot a block away. I had high hopes looking at the stars but reality happened and I have to be the exception with my review. I walk in and the bar is closed off, come on because I have been in plenty of places and I can't remember the dining area open and the bar closed except here because I didn't want to take up a whole table. I was seated and menued by the one woman working the room so I had time to look over the speciality cocktails menu and the top one sounded good so I ordered it and she tells me that they can't make any of the speciality cocktails because they don't have the ingredients, seriously and why can't you restock them like every other bar. The bbq beef short ribs sounded really good so that's what I ordered and I was surprised to see layers of stacked ribs on top of slaw on a tiny plate, how the hell are you supposed eat this and cut it up with out spilling your food all over the table. Halfway through I commented that this is ridiculous having everything piled on one small plate to the woman and she gave me an extra plate, who piles a fork and knife dish on a tiny plate ?. The bbq short ribs were very tasty and reminded me of an Asian marinade I make at home with a sweet garlic and ginger flavor. The flavor just screams Asian and works very well with the tender short ribs which were very good and I'm glad that I got them. I'm disappointed that I drove all the way to Bay View after looking at the on line cocktail menu that didn't match the restaurant menu at all, no big deal because I will get something different only to find out that they have no speciality cocktails at all on my visit and I had a beer instead. I'm also disappointed that a dish that requires a fork and a knife to cut meat off bones was served on a tiny plate layered with all the food, I get presentation but the plate has to have a balance of function to enjoy the meal and not difficult for no reason. read more

Had not had Vietnamese food in so long. It was time. Hue is doing dine-in so I checked it out for the first time. It's a small-ish space but my server found me a spot pretty quickly. I almost got the pho just because, well, I hadn't had any in awhile, but I saw the banh xeo on the menu so I had to try it. My server mentioned it was her favorite also. It's a Vietnamese crepe with shrimp and beef and bean sprouts and onions. It was delicious and different from the usual. I would go again just for banh xeo. I also liked that I could order a single spring roll, since I was by myself and not really hungry enough for a whole order and my entree too. There are just two single-occupancy restrooms but that's probably enough for the size of the restaurant. They were clean and well-maintained. Food is slightly pricey but portions are about right-sized, which I can appreciate. Hue also does carry out and I'm pretty sure they deliver through at least one of the delivery apps. Our go-to Vietnamese restaurant in Bay View. When we first came we went to this restaurant to try out their Pho. We both really enjoyed it and thought that the broth was tasty and comforting! We hadn't tried their other items until we ran into their food truck at the Chill on the Hill event in Humboldt Park. That's where we fell in love with their chicken Katsu bahn mi sandwich. Now whenever I go, we get the summer rolls with the pork sausage and amazing peanut sauce to start and one of us gets the pho and the other gets the chicken Katsu bahn mi.
