I'd read the Bahn Mi reviews and decided to order from here for a Friday treat. I'm impressed by the variety they offer - something for everyone, meat and veggie friendly options abound. BF and I regularly crave the sandwiches but our favorite place is pretty expensive so we don't get them that often. He had the special combo - BBQ pork, pork meatloaf, pate, mayo. He really enjoyed it. I had the tofu version and was pleasantly surprised at how flavorful it was. I don't know how they prepare the tofu, but this was and excellent and interesting version, on a great baguette. We also tried the pork egg rolls, which boyfriend said were very good, but they didn't knock him out in any particular way. The crab rangoon hit me the same way - good, but not extraordinary. I enjoyed my tofu spring roll - it was wrapped well, but the peanut sauce just veered a little bit to the sweet side and the roll was a little bland. I do see the Bahn Mi moving into our regular rotation. They were good, filling, tasty and reasonable. I'll also be trying some other dishes on their relatively large menu.

What is a baguette for if not sopping up egg yolk after all. I took plenty of napkins. The spring rolls are decent but not the best I've had, I like more fresh herbs in the filling. I have yet to try the pho but it looks good. Prices are reasonable. I see movies at the Oriental and Downer a lot so Saigon Baguette will be on the rotation.

I got the pho dac biet, which is their house signature pho with sliced steak, brisket, tendon, and meatballs. Lots of sauces on the side like sriracha and garlic chili sauce to spice up your soup!! This was DELICIOUS - a very hearty feeling, a rich broth, and very fresh ingredients. We started our experience with an order of their crab rangoon, which was delicious and easily one of the best crab rangoon we've enjoyed. My my main, I ordered one of their soups with chicken and rice noodles. It comes out in a heated hot pot (boiling!). The soup has a nice little kick of spice but beyond that was just a bit bland. Our server was kind and prompt throughout our visit. The dining room is small but comfortable and the portions are ample. We all had some left to take home. While their soup wasn't exactly my cup of tea, it was hot and warmed my winter evening. I'm also anxious to come back for some of their other menu items.

His chief complaint was that the items within the dish kept separating out. Likely due to the oils. Every bite was either noodles or one of the mixed in ingredients. My dish, on the other hand, was easy to get everything in one bite. Even with chopsticks. The stir fried udon was not crispy, which I was curious about. It was still toothy and delicious with the mixed vegetables and chicken. The sauce was neither overpowering nor too abundant. Everything was coated but not drowning, if that makes sense. They do not take reservations so definitely go early! The restaurant is small, but gives a comfy cozy vibe with the dark atmosphere. Although the Pho options looked delicious, I went for the bulgogi banh mi. In short, it was amazing. Lightly sweet, with the crunchy veggies and a little mayo to pull it all together. This sandwich should be illegal! I wanted three more. I would have liked just a little more meat for the price, but we all know how expensive beef has gotten lately. I noticed they also had banh mi bowls on the menu - I presume for the carb conscious or those who can't eat, or don't like the crispy bread. Also wings... I need to stop back and try the wings. The only negative is that there is a credit card fee that is not disclosed and also not a separate line item on the receipt. I only noticed after I returned home that the charge was listed as a non-cash total. This is my biggest pet peeve with restaurants, so hopefully they put up a notice at the entrance and register to be in compliance with the state regulations. Had I known I would have paid in cash to avoid the junk fees.
