We've been here a lot, so often in fact that the lady who brings the pho to your table recognizes us. The pho broth is tasty, you get lots of meat, and the prices are decent. I don't understand why people don't give this place higher ratings. Sure, the ambiance isn't perfect, but it's a pho place in a strip mall. If I could do zero stars I would. I CANNOT stress this enough. Please do not go eat at this place!!! We found a COCKROACH in our food!! This is not okay. This was one of my favorite places to come eat with my husband and my kids. We came in around 9pm today with my mother in law, my father in law, my 5 year old niece and my son who is 1 years old. The first thing that happened when we walked in was that they banned us from sitting on the left side of the restaurant and the excuse was and I quote "this side no please sit on the other side of the restaurant because we already cleaned this side." My husband and I being understanding of the situation chose to follow and sit on the right side of the restaurant. We ordered four number ones and one kids pho meal. As I stated before this was one of my favorite places to eat so it didn't come to my mind to check the food thoroughly. The kids shared a kids pho. I didn't start eating yet because I was feeding my son his pho. I Then took 2 or 3 bites out of my food. My father in law was in the middle of eating his food when he found a dead cockroach floating in it. I WAS SO DISGUSTED I LITERALLY PUSHED MY PLATE AWAY AND TOOK AWAY THE KIDS FOOD AS WELL. What kind of restaurants gives out food especially to KIDS with cockroaches in it?? I can't imagine how sick my son and my niece can get from eating food that was contaminated with cockroaches. Us as adults it isn't that bad but kids? Really?! This makes me so upset. We called over the waiter and the only thing he said was "the only thing I can do is discount one plate." He wasn't even surprised that there was a small cockroach in the bowl. We didn't grab the waiters attention so that we can get discounts. This wasn't a stunt we pulled so that we can get free meals. This was a dinner we wanted to enjoy as a family. We brought kids to this restaurant thinking that it was a safe place for them to eat. We then grabbed the attention of someone else who worked there and showed them the cockroach in the food. She stated "we keep our kitchen clean. Maybe the cockroach fell from the ceiling." I got so upset because she was trying to make It seem like it was our fault the food their restaurant served us had a cockroach in it. Unbelievable. THERE SHOULDN'T BE COCKROACHES ANYWHERE IN THE PLACE WHETHER THAT'S THE KITCHEN, THE FLOOR, THE CEILING. THIS IS A GIANT HEALTH CODE VIOLATION. Please be aware when eating here and CHECK YOUR PLATES. Especially if you have kids. This is not a form of getting attention or anything. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT REALLY HAPPENED AND NEEDS TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY. This is highly unacceptable and I will for sure be calling corporate and the health department first thing in the morning. A very popular spot for causal and quick dine in or take out pho and rice plates. I've been to this restaurant over 30 times and the food quality and service is very consistent. I always head to this place for a cozy meal on a rainy Seattle day. My sister and I were in the neighborhood and decided to try some takeout pho (which I'm not a fan of takeout and only eat pho when I can dine-in but with the pandemic... I had no choice when I was mad craving some pho. We ordered our togo, I asked for steak AND brisket but of course I get home to find pure disappointment when my steak was missing. But that's not why I dinged this review 4 stars although now I'm second guessing the rating of this review. I saw this restaurant had such a bad rap I wanted to boost it a bit for the food's quality but considering they misheard my order and messed up... I should remove one more star. However, I'll let it be because the pho itself was actually pretty delicious. The main reason I wanted to ding 1 star is because we drove like 5 minutes from the restaurant and my broth was cold. I even put it in the microwave for an extra 3 minutes and I expected it to be piping hot but it wasn't. I feel for a restaurant to do togo orders, they should at least make the broth hotter than usual so when you get home, at least the noodles will soften up nicely like it does when dining in. I know I can't expect it to be the same as being served 5 feet from the kitchen but if I'm driving 5 minutes from the kitchen... is that a tall order? Other great qualities included: plenty of beansprouts, lime, and basil, sauces were a plenty, and like I mentioned, it tasted good but slightly lacking in flavor with the broth. The young guy in the front was very nice. After ordering our pho he brought out the veggie plate. Immediately I noticed all their mint leaves were covered in black/dark spots and the jalapeños looked really dry. I found a small grey bug on the mint leaves as well. I let the guy know and he disposed of it then filled the plate back up with more. Same, dark spots and he touched the stems of the mint with no gloves so it grossed me out a bit. They were nice when we asked for extra lime and the pho (steak & brisket) was pretty good. I feel like they were generous with the meat. We used to come here a lot but it's been a while. I've come here easily over 13 years. Good fried roll and pho, spring roll and noodle bowl. When I was pregnant I could only stomach pho. When my daughter was born she also loved it. We would go regularly after moving to Burien. Everywhere we moved we had to find a Pho place. Now she is 19 so that tells you I am making a solid review. I have eaten here for years. Service is quick. Meatballs and steak pho is about the only dish I like though the spring rolls look popular. Given the large bowl is $1 more than the small, you have to order the large. Be warned, if your bill is $14.60 because you got a large, and you leave a twenty dollar bill, they will assume you meant to leave $5.40 as a tip and not bring change. This happened to me twice although I said "please bring the change". My math is they think you're leaving over 30% tip for a basic lunch. Service wasn't THAT good. I always ask for hot sauce and silverware because there isn't none at my job obviously...she huffs and she tells me there's some in the bag but hands me 2 packets of siracha sauce, I get to work and there's no silverware or other siracha sauce in the bag. In terms of pho, this place has legit pho.. though not the cleanest. I grew up eating pho in the Burien area and this is the real deal. The broth is flavorful, there is plenty of meats in the dac biet and they serve it with sides of bean sprouts and Vietnamese herbs. The staff is ok - nothing to rave about but nothing to complain about either.. I mean, it is a casual pho establishment so I'm not expecting much. You will have to ask for water, refills, napkins, etc but that's expected as well. Today our state went into phase 3 reopening! We were craving pho and this is one of our go to places for hot broth to warm up our tummies. Our usuals "Pho Tai" never disappointed us since our first time coming here (what feels like eons ago). We always request for the staff to steam the sprouts so our soup stays hot. Seating is every other table and the wait staff have their masks on throughout our visit today. The patrons who order to go were requested to wait outside for their orders to be delivered to them. The only time I felt uneasy was when one of patrons who were eating sneezed or coughed but that is the risk I will need to take if I'm eating outside. This is not the best pho place but it's decent enough for me to come back often. The price is reasonable and they give you a good amount of meat! I usually order large number 5 to go! I sometimes dine in as well. The staff is ok. The floor is dirty. You will have to ask for certain things like water and extra napkins sometimes. They are sometimes inconsistent with their pho such as the broth and the amount of meat given, but those are like 3 out of 10 visits. I would give them a better score if they were more consistent and more friendly at serving us! If you just go for the food, this would be a decent place. Don't expect exceptional service though. That's why whenever I am in the area, I would buy to go pho and keep it in my refrigerator in case I crave for noodle soup late at night. I have been to the Pho Tai place in Southcenter as well. They are not even worse. So I guess I prefer the Burien location. I sometimes order rice platter and they would give such a small serving of pork chop! They should consider their rice platter portion again as I find it so ripped off whenever I need to order rice platter for my boyfriend. Me and my family have been going to this place for 15 years now, many of the workers know us and or recognize us whenever we go, in fact one of the female workers is a really good friend of ours and she is extremely kind, the pho is always good, we haven't tried much of the menu besides that because it's a family favorite but the times we've tried other things they've been really good, sometimes customer service is a little bad but it can get really busy and I understand the stress that gives the workers so it's fine, definitely recommend this place I love it and I hope it stays for a long time. read more
