Beef Vermicelli bowl
Marchelle A.

I came here for a quick lunch with my son. They gave him a complimentary capri sun which was sweet. He got a kid's brisket pho and I got the beef vermicelli bowl. Both were great! The pho broth was flavorful and my vermicelli bowl was fresh and tasty. Mom&Pop vibes with good food.

Spring rolls. I liked how the peanut sauce had a slight hint of spicy.

Updates review for Pho Sam: As of my review, Pho Sam has changed ownership and has completely remodeled the restaurant to make it more trendy and welcoming. The menu now includes a bunch of fruity/sweet drinks too. We came here several times for lunch and are huge fans of their grilled meat dishes: The Vermicelli dishes are excellent - meaty, juicy chicken or thinly-sliced, savory grilled pork. Both were great. I like the ratio of veggies, noodles, to meat and appreciate the peanuts for added crunch. The pork chop rice is also pretty good, and comes with cooked veggies. A great dish for sharing. They do have a single, small but clean bathroom in the back, though you'll need to walk through the kitchen. 5 stars. San Ramon is really upping its meat-centric restaurant choices with Chingu, Pho Sam, and Char House all in the same plaza.

Still a great place for Vietnamese food! Clean. I like the menus. They're thick boards on the table, easy to read, and they're not sticky. Stopped by quickly to pick up 2 grilled pork banh mi and decided to try the banh xeo. Service is lovely as usual. I ordered to go and I love that the owner asked if I wanted some water while I waited. I love that they marked "not spicy" on one of the banh mi to differentiate which sandwich was which. Banh xeo was packed with holes on the corners of the container to remain crispy. It was so good and was still crispy when I got home. Thank you!!

My daughter and I were craving for pho and decided to try the neighborhood pho. We both thought the pho was just OK, very watered down and didn't have any in depth flavor. Service was great and quick. Staff were friendly. We even experienced 2 earthquakes while dining there.

I have been regularly patronizing Pho Sam since the ownership change a few months ago. I am so impressed by its extensive and authentic menu. The owner also owns another location with a long history in Oakland. This is by far the best Vietnamese restaurant in the Tri-Valley area.

#43 Vermicelli Noddle with Beef

I am obsessed with Pho Sam - the food is amazing, the service is quick, staff is so friendly and the restaurants ambiance is peaceful, calming, and welcoming 10/10 Ps. This dish is gluten free!! Celiac safe! There are lots of other options for celiacs too!

My wife and I absolutely love this place! We first visited about two weeks ago, and since then we've already come back at least four times. Not only has the food been consistently great, but the staff/owners, Thu and Long, have been incredibly welcoming, kind, and caring. Honestly, we keep coming back because of the warm hospitality and the quality and consistency of the food. I learned from Thu and Long that they've only been operating for about 3-4 months. With their wonderful customer service and really good food, I have full confidence they'll revive this establishment. Also, shoutout to Thu for recommending the Bánh xèo! It's crispy, golden, and filled with shrimp and bean sprouts, and served with lettuce, herbs, and an amazing dipping sauce. It's now our favorite thing to order every time we visit. I highly recommend giving it a try! This place deserves way more attention. Until then, my wife and I will keep enjoying our nice quiet dinners here.

Pho Sam has new ownership. The new ownership has remodeled the interior with some new settees, wall decorations and service counter. The menu has some new items such as BBH. Been twice once for take out once dining in. The pho is good but less meat toppings compared to before. There is a happy hour discount. Right now free soda or Thai tea with your pho.

I have been eating here for a few months and it was good This time however with the new owners was an exceptional experience! They have been here for about two months. The broth has been kicked up several notches; the addition of Seared Garlic Rare Beef hit it home for me They have added several fresh juices that I have to try next time Service was good and the place is really clean I highly recommend this restaurant under the new owners!

This place is amazing! Fresh, delicious food. Large portions. The Pho with the most perfect spicy house made chili oil sauce is a must. Quaint space. Super friendly service! Go! You will be happy.

Pho Sam is still one of the better pho joints in the Tri-Valley area. After a multi-year hiatus, my family and I came here for dinner on 11/30/2024 after shopping nearby. It was moderately busy when we walked in at 5:15pm. Since it was a cold evening, we opted to sit at the table closest to the cash register in the back. I was happy to see the same owner and his family running the operation. The interior was clean and had gone through an upgrade. There was a TV showing a college football game. The menu featured a wide array of typical Vietnamese fare found in any pho restaurant. We got three bowls of the #18 Combination Noodle Soup (2XL and 1L), plus some egg rolls and spring rolls to share. Our food took a while to come out because they were dealing with several large takeout orders. The two appetizers were decent, and the portions were commensurate with the price. The Combination Noodle Soup (pho dac biet) was very good. The broth was clear and had a nice hint of sweetness in it. Meat toppings were plentiful. The owner was friendly and the service we received was good. The total, with a tip, was about $72. We all thought it was worth it. If you want a good bowl of pho in the Tri-Valley area, keep this place in mind. I don't think you will be disappointed. 4 solid stars. BONUS MATERIAL: - Ample parking on site. - Major credit cards accepted. Do look over your check at the end. The owner accidentally added an extra item to our check.

i will highlight the hospitality at this location, as the staff was welcoming and immediately offered menu i got their Medium Chicken & Seafood Pho. and their 5 pc wings. i got takeout, but their inside seating is nice, with some more seats outside. ambiance is quiet and chill here in this San Ramon area pho was elite, 5 stars: it was delicious, generous with proteins and all condiments and veggies provided. 5 piece wings, crispy and juicy, paired with a sweet sauce! thx, Sam

We had the meatball and rare beef Pho. Meatballs were chewy with free cartilage chips. Soup in general was blah. So many better places.

I don't eat too much raw fish but my friend really liked the hamachi. The chicken pho is smaller than at most other pho places. It didn't taste as salty as most pho places. I thought it was ok but not great. I have been to Slanted Door many times. Mostly for dinner and with a group of friends to celebrate birthdays or special occasions. It's very nicely decorated and has good food. It's a bit pricey but has nice ambiance and decor. So, if you want a nice meal at a fancy Vietnamese restaurant this is the place to go.

We were seated immediately. Beautiful and spacious inside, customer service was good. We had the yellowtail for the appetizer (yummy!) and the chicken vermicelli and the lemongrass pork chop for our mains. The chicken was nice and tender with a nice char. Plenty of vegetables. Dipping sauce included. I asked for chili oil and they said they charge $3 for it. I have never heard of such thing. The lemongrass pork chop tasted good as well, nice sear to it and it was tender. No dipping sauce included, we had to ask for it. I wanted a Diet Coke but they said they don't serve sodas, only sparkling waters (I believe flavored ones). So we opted for just water instead. Our server was friendly and attentive. When the bill came I was surprised they automatically added a 20% tip for a party of 2. You don't normally see that for small parties, I also don't remember seeing it on the menu, maybe I overlooked it. Overall this was a nice place to have lunch, for the price point, however, I was expecting more flavor and bigger servings. It was definitely good but nothing spectacular. We paid $100 for 2 people including 1 iced coffee. I was told by my companion the iced coffee was okay. This place is at the lot so plenty of parking.

Everything is provided at the table, napkins, condiments, utensils etc. we've tried the fresh spring rolls, fried chicken wings rice plates and of course their pho. Everything is absolutely delicious! Not overly sweet, not salty or greasy. It's a lot more hearty than other pho restaurants I've tried! I love the consistency and thickness of the broth, very well done! Everything tastes super fresh and their peanut sauce is delicious! The chicken wings are always on point too!! The only thing is, and I've seen this with a lot of restaurants after COVID, they don't have soy sauce. They offer seasoning sauce which taste completely different and is a sauce my family and I arent too fond of so if you ever need actual soy sauce, we normally ask the staff for some Togo soy sauce packets. Other than that this place is great! We will continue to dine here and introduce more of our family and friends to this establishment!
