For me, pho is about home, wherever that may be. I constantly crave it, especially when I'm away from my family. Pho Saigon manages to hit all the right notes when I'm craving. In this particular part of Springfield, there's certainly no shortage of Vietnamese restaurants. But the always friendly and informative staff, a medley of Vietnamese dishes available, and overall experience has me coming back. I haven't had a dish that didn't remind me of Mom. Starters, vermicelli, noodle and rice dishes, everything is tastefully prepared. Smoothies aren't bad and overall pricing is reasonable. No better way to warm yourself up except with a big bowl of delicious pho! I came to Springfield for work. And after a long day of candle-making at the Yankee Candle Village, my coworker and I decided we needed to warm ourselves up (we are from California, so we are not used to the cold). This place was recommended by our Uber driver and I am so glad she mentioned it. The place was busy when we walked it. But they were able to seat us right away. I noticed while were we looking at the menu that there were a lot of people that were taking food to go. So if you want to eat at home, you can totally call in and order your food to go. But I would NEVER recommend eating pho to go. Pho is a dish that is best when served fresh. And oh my gosh. This place makes it fresh. I was very surprised by how delicious the broth was. No offense. But the Bay Area makes some good pho. This place is just as good. They meat was very good quality and the noodles were cooked just right. I loved how hot the broth was and how fresh the bean sprouts, mint, lime, and jalapenos were. All around a very good dish. There were several other tables that were ordering rice dishes that looked absolutely amazing as well. So if I ever come back, I will definitely try those! read more

Next up, a small Pho Tai (of course). This was some seriously good pho, with flavorful broth I did not need to doctor. I smelled the sweet and savory spices more here than at any other place I've tried. All rare beef, which was perfectly sliced and so tender. It's is hands down not only the best Viet cuisine I've ever had, but their curry chicken and spicy lemongrass pho are my favorite dishes on EARTH! seriously! Update: We have since been back to Pho Saigon 3-4 times since my last review. We've even brought my mom and our kids, they all loved it. Our 3 year old finished a large bowl by himself lol and our 4 year old is still asking for the fried egg rolls. Every time we've been back the servers great us warmly. It's nice that they're not just there to take orders and bring out food, but that they're interested in building a lasting relationship with their dining guests. A truly wonderful mom and pops restaurant that has quickly become one of our favorites. ----- My boyfriend and I got an unexpected date night when my mom decided to take our kids shopping. He wanted pho, and usually we head to Pho Boston in W. Hartford CT, but didn't feel like trekking all that way from Enfield last night. Thankfully we found Pho Saigon on Yelp and had a delightful dinner. Unlike the bustling atmosphere of Pho Boston, Pho Saigon is the friendly, warm, and cozy establishment my boyfriend and I enjoy frequenting more often. I stopped in here with my fiancee while on our road trip to Ludlow Vermont this past weekend. I'll say this I've never been disappointed with a large bowl of Pho soup. This Pho shop like almost every other one I've been to all seem to have the same taste in table selection and chairs which I always find amusing. (My fiancee tells me it's because cleaning a glass surface is much more efficient) But none the less I have never go to a Pho place for the place mats or table decor but rather the yummy food. We ordered a spring roll appetizer to share since they sell them as a two piece item. I enjoy these apps very much, especially the peanut butter dipping sauce. For the main meal I ordered an extra large bowl of regular Pho soup with meat while my fiancee ordered a spicy vegetarian Pho soup. The waiter of course asked if I was sure about the size to which I was positive. We then waited about 8 minutes before receiving our food. What I found interesting about this place unlike any other Pho shop I've been too is the fact that a bell rang signifying the food was ready. Overall the food was extremely good and very yummy. I easily finished the extra large bowl, which impressed both the chef and the waiter. If I lived in the area I would definitely frequent this establishment on a weekly basis. read more

I could write a review for this restaurant rife with pho puns about how pho-king pho-nominal this restaurant is, but I'll spare you all the pho-stration of reading those, so as to not create pho-roblems with my readership. BUT suffice it to say that this place is the sauce! It's GOAT, as my students would say. You don't come here for just "noodles" or "soup." You come here for comfort. Pho Sàigòn is the best Vietnamese restaurant in the Pioneer Valley, and it's been voted that way for a while. Trust me, there's reason for it. The soup dishes, entrees, and even the bubble tea are entirely remarkable. I love the Bún Bò Hue (hot & spicy lemongrass soup). But the classic, Pho Ga is also savory as heck, and amazing. Both dishes are the perfect meal for those times when you're needing a good comfort, pick-me-up food. And the Bún Bò Hue is not too spicy either. It's got a little kick, the right amount to clear your sinuses and make you feel better when you're under the weather or looking for a good, warm belly. I've also had he mango bubble tea and it's definitely sweet, but the perfect compliment to a spicy dish. The spring rolls and Vietnamese egg rolls are also out of the ballpark good. This place is always busy and always delicious. It's affordable, and the portions are big. You've gotta eat here. You won't regret it. read more

Great portions..great food! I ordered the beef onion skewers appetizer, and the sweet and sour shrimp entree. The beef was so flavorful and tender...I highly recommend! The sweet and sour shrimp came with approximately 6 or 7 LARGE shrimp perfectly fried in a tempura batter, with the sweet n sour sauce served on the side. I believe they served it like this cause our food was take out. Both dishes very filling and satisfying. The place itself was clean but a little tight on space. I also enjoyed the pineapple smoothie which was well blended and balanced throughout (not too sweet). However, i was eager to try the soursop flavor, but they were "out" of it...which I think meant they no longer carry the flavor because the soursop fruit is very hard to get in the US. You may find the frozen preservative in an international market, but people are not as familiar with the fruit to go out of their way to buy it. Overall, good eats..I look forward to trying Vietnamese food again once I return to Maryland. read more

Picture beef on a stick, but the stick is an onion that crunches when you bite the beef. Picture spring rolls ( not egg rolls) with shrimp, rice, chicken, vermicelli and fresh veggies wrapped in rice paper served with a peanut dipping sauce. I've tried many pho places in the Boston/ Greater Boston area (including those in Dorchester), but this place has the best beef broth and freshest meat by far! Surprise find when we missed the exit for our usual pho place Northampton/Amherst. We dont have good pho in lower Fairfield County, CT. We make stops on Rt 91 our way to VT during the winter. Pho Saigon did not disappoint. Not too difficultly located off 91, easy parking, yummy broth, crispy sprouts and basil, three sizes! Delicious glazed pork chops. Spring rolls could have had more ?veggies? Not sure, but obviously yummy since my daughter had an order to go for the car ride. And it seems to be in a mini Vietnamese neighborhood. Absolutely amazing! This was my first experience with Vietnamese food and our server recommended exactly what to have based on my likes (lemongrass chicken with rice) and I was so pleased. My husband got a seafood stew (can't remember the name) and loved it! The taro smoothie ended my night and I wish I could have one of these drinks every night. The service here tonight was wonderful. One of my fave food spots in Springfield. The rice noodle plate w the sliced beef is seasoned, succulent, and savory, yet still clean and not greasy. I do wish that they gave bigger portions of the pickled carrots & daikon though. But at the same time, the portion given is just enough. I get this when I feel like takeout, but don't want to feel super heavy, or overly stuffed. When I want a "clean" type of meal. My girlfriend and I have gone here every Friday for the last 6 years, this is by far our favorite restaurant to eat at in all of New England! This place probably has the best service in all of Springfield, maybe all of MA. I was craving for some noodles and came here. But I had to wait for my friend who was 1.5/2 hours away. They were super accommodating and let me wait for her. I can't thank them enough for that. Now about the food, I ordered Bún bò Hu which was very good. Perfect amount of lemon grass and spices and noodles were perfect too. It's comparable to some of the best places in NYC. Quite delicious; bun rieu was a hit, more flavorful than the bun rieu I had at Xinh Xinh in Chinatown Boston. Texture of the soup was quite rich. The canh chua was also quite good; they put okra in there which was quite a nice surprise. Nice decor and interior. Nice ambiance. read more

The lemongrass chicken had no visible pieces of lemongrass in it and no real lemongrass flavor. It also came out in a slimy/mucus-like clear sauce? It tasted ok but just didn't have any lemongrass and had too much white onion. It was easily saved with hoisin. The tofo fresh rolls were good. The fresh limeade is delicious. I consider Carissa and Vy at Pho Saigon to be my original teachers and educators in Vietnamese food. So kind, patient and friendly, beginning with my request to learn about a few Vietnamese dishes in preparation for my first visit to Vietnam nearly a year ago. I knew nothing.
