The restaurant doesn't appear too impressive, but that's the hallmark of delicious Asian food! It looked like there was only one server, but she was very nice and the food came quickly. The coffee and limeade were perfectly sweet, but make sure you mix it well! We started with the beef appetizer (bo nuong lui), and the flavor was spectacular! It paired great with the lightly pickled veggies. Then we split the pho tai gan and mi hoanh thanh, which came with tons of bean sprouts, lime, and mint. We loved the broth for both, and we especially loved adding our the sauces throughout the meal to continue to change the flavor of the noodles. I thought mi hoanh thanh was more delicious (especially with the wontons!). The tendon in the pho was the best tendon we'd ever had, but the beef was overdone and the noodles were too soft. I would definitely recommend the mi hoanh thanh, but if you want to get pho, I'd get only the tendon if it's possible. read more

The food is okay, nothing special, and definitely not worth the inflated prices. The soup was loaded with MSG, which was overwhelming and left an odd aftertaste. The real low point was the service: absolutely horrible. The staff were rude, seemed completely uninterested in engaging, and even brought the bill when we are still eating--basically telling us to leave without saying it. We ordered the eggs rolls which was crispy on the outside and had a lot of filling. It was very delicious. The thai fried rice was very flavorful and aromatic, one of the better fried rices I've had. The main star of the meal is their make your own roll ops with the sticky rice paper. The chicken one is delicious and I could eat that chicken on rice until the day I die. After spending the day tasting beer with my cousin and his friends, we decided to have some Vietnamese food since his friends NEVER had Vietnamese food before! Naturally, Bamboo House is the obvious choice for us to take him to since that is where we always take our friends who never had Vietnamese food before. As soon as he took his first bite of pho, we knew that he instantly became a fan. Likewise, I also had the pho and I must admit, pho is my default choice of food after consuming alcohol. The pho at Bamboo House is your prototypical pho. The broth is crisp, clear, and free of fatty residue from the cooking process. It was not overly salty like most pho broths I had elsewhere in the past. The beef and tendon were tender as evident by the way they fell apart in my mouth. The rice noodles were cooked al denté. Overall, the pho was perfectly made. One thing that I requested that is considered a "secret menu" item at most Vietnamese restaurants that offer pho is having the rare flank steak served raw on a plate with onions and parsley. Typically, the rare flank steak would be served within the pho, but often times, it could be eaten raw (if you're feeling adventurous) with a squeeze of lime and sriracha sauce. The flank steak was sliced thin enough so that it didn't require a lot of effort to eat. Furthermore, it was not bloody to the point that it looked unappetizing since it was raw. It's been nearly a decade now since I have moved away from my mother and her side of the family. With that said, I am VERY picky when it comes to properly spiced, garnished, and prepared Vietnamese dishes. I always stay away from the tendon in my pho since its usually a chore to chew and swallow-but my friend said it was good here. He was right.. It was so tender and melts in your mouth.
