I LOVE Pho Saigon! Their pork banh mi is absolutely delicious, as is their pho ga! I could LIVE on those + che ba mau, for the rest of my life! Actually, writing this is making me hungry for more so I'm going there for late lunch today! The employees have ALWAYS been perfectly polite & helpful towards me. Luckily the restaurant is only 6mins from my apt so I get food to go regularly, & occasionally eat in. I am VERY HAPPY w/EVERYthing to do w/Pho Saigon & plan to continue coming back forever! I don't know it this was Covid related but this place went down quickly. I used to make the 25 miles drive every weekend but now it's not worth it. The quality of food is horrible. I had made friends with the staff and not even 1 of them are there. Don't know if it was the change in management or they all left. A few weeks ago I ordered spring rolls and one of them tasted like cleaning products and the wrapper was hard and chewy. I figured I just had a bad one but Last night I ordered spring rolls again and that all tasted like the same cleaning product that even my wife threw up. Horrible customer service. They barely speak to you and if you dare to ask for anything extra they just flat out say no. I would've paid extra. Eggrolls had a fishy taste, and the bun bo hue was terrible. The vegetables they gave me for my soup was already rotting. They want to save money by skimping on everything. I love this place so much, it has the weirdest parking situation I've ever seen in my life. It like a parking deck but for a tiny strip mall? The food is very authentic and the menu has a ton of options for great prices. They have delicious drinks too, I have to get the coffee every time I come, it's some of the best coffee I've ever had. The tofu is really good there, plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. I have yet to try the pho but I really want to next time! Great place! It's a "go sit at the table I pointed to" kind of sit down restaurant, but it was incredibly fast . Within 5-7 minutes of ordering, the server brought our both our pho bowls and a plate of egg rolls. The pho was super good, the chicken was a little dry, but great bowl. The egg rolls were incredible and I could eat all four if I had the chance. We paid at the kiosk with no issues splitting the check. Maybe a tad bit expensive for pho? However, if you order a broken rice plate be aware the shredded pork (bi), is bland. The grilled pork is on point and well seasoned. Service is hit or miss. Most days the servers are quick and courteous and somedays they're just slow and "blah". Today the bf and I came in and the server seats us and puts 2 menus down. Overall pho soup had a medium richness and there was a ton of noodles. So I thought it was pretty decent, but it didn't wow me. Pho also came with a good helping of bean sprouts, basil, and cilantro, which was a good surprise. Also got an order of spring rolls, which was just ok as well. In my mind the service stood out. Being ridiculously cold outside for Houston, I have been obsessed with ramen, pho, and other suppage as of late...wait...didn't I start another review like this? Well it is still cold out and pho was offered for dinner...so guess what happened? Pho-Saigon, with its swath of positive reviews and hordes of regulars that would recommend it...was just ok. The egg rolls were pretty good and came out in about 4.876 seconds, so you know the kitchen has a swath of things pre-prepped. Which is ok when they are serving the amounts they are here. They were pretty good. Nice and salty with a good dipping sauce and of course, hoisin. I recently ate pho in the depths of Asian clad Madison Wisconsin, where the broth was amazing, the meat was tender, and the spices were perfect. Here, it was slightly less than such. The broth was pretty good, but I had to add some fish sauce, a lot of hoisin, and Sriracha to get a little bit of depth to the flavor. The meats in the pho were grey, boiled, chewy, very dry, and sadly, lacking in flavor. Also, as we sat and conversed, my broth appeared to separate out into its water and bullion components. As did everyone else's at our table. Not sure if this is how the broth is supposed to be as I have never seen this happen at other pho houses...so quality is in question here. Now the other little niggle I have is they do not serve beer, wine, or alcohol of any kind...and eating pho should be accompanied by at least 3 beers or several glasses of wine. So this was slightly less than ideal for me. Overall I have had way better, and somewhat worse. All in all...might come back...but there are a lot of pho places to try in H-Town so it might be a while. read more

Still my go-to spot for Pho. One star off because while the Pho is always served fast and hot, the egg rolls are not. They're good but clearly nothing is made to order. I like that the Vietnamese coffee is still old school in that you brew it at you table. If you need a place to sober up and rally after day drinking, this is the spot. And they still have fish sauce on the table unlike some other Pho places. read more

I asked for no onions, and they gave me onions and the guy argued with me for a second saying I didn't say that.. but my friend witnessed me telling them I didn't want onions. How to describe my love for this place? Pho Saigon is my favorite place for pho in Houston, and honestly one of my favorite restaurants in the world- it's incredibly speedy, cheap, infinitely casual, and always warm and smelling of broth no matter how cold it is outside. They serve up amazing, steaming bowls of pho (and many other kinds of Vietnamese food, if you peruse their expansive menu.) I usually get the #9 special combination, but everything here is so good, from the Vietnamese lemon soda to the beef stew with baguette. Their noodles have gotten me through hangovers and heartbreak. Go here. Eat here. Love Pho Saigon. P.S. "Go here" because takeout is not as fabulous of an experience. It's a hassle to deal with so many loose ingredients that go into pho, and most times the broth has cooled too much to effectively cook the raw meat slices. read more
