He proceeded to tell us to pick it out and eat it because we didn't tell him beforehand . So we had to explain that it's an allergy. And our friend could die. He proceeded to talk over us and say all vermicelli comes with peanuts and that we should've told him before. Where does it say that?it says garnish. Do not waste your time here. The pork vermicelli is over seasoned and was very salty. The pad Thai... isn't pad Thai. It's tasted like vinegar noodles. We also ordered lemon grass beef. Looks and tastes just like beef and broccoli. The pho bowls are misleading. The bowls are large size bowls and only a few bites of noodles. read more

We ordered general tso's with plain fried rice, beef and broccoli add shrimp and a special spring roll app. Total was $35. Spring roll app on menu said, fried chicken and vegetable spring rolls. It was basically two small spring rolls with chicken. Thought it was something different. I was disappointed when my beef and broccoli only came with 4 shrimp. They charged me extra for this. They got the order correct with the plain fried rice and that's a plus. It is a bit pricey, but the taste is VERY good. Hope this helps! read more

Seems like this place has worked out the kinks other reviews said they needed to work on. Got a togo order this evening and had no issue with timing. Pho dac beit was defiantly tasty. Broth could of had a lil more flavor, but thats my opinion, def was a tasty broth. Good variety of greens n veggies to add to my bowl as well, tho i think it could of came with a lil bit more noodles compared to the amount of broth. Overall...i was impressed with my take out, and will defiantly revisit. Thankful james island now has this place cause the drive to north charleston wasnt fun when i needed my pho bowl fix. Great job pho saigon for keeping everything authentic. Very good food. Man, I forgot how good the pho is here. I had never tried Vietnamese food until I tried it here a while back and got hooked. Definitely recommend this spot. Pho is one of my favourite dishes, many a cold freezing hungover Saturday were spent over a hot bowl of Pho in NYC. I was really looking forward to finding a place in Charleston that could satisfy that craving. Unfortunately this was not it. We tried two of the Pho bowls, the spicy chef special and the standard pho. My spicy chef special pho tasted like warm water and chill flakes, the meat tasted like it was just about to need to be thrown away, and the noodles tasted like packet ramen. Maybe it was an off night, and my wife was much more appreciative of her dish (so I'll give them two stars for that), but for me the search for good Pho continues. read more

I'm on a tear with visiting Vietnamese places. This one was excellent. The decor felt like an old Vietnamese man decided on it replete with aquarium, but I wasn't there for ambiance, I was there for Pho. I had the tastiest bowl of inexpensive Pho I think I've ever had. My wife ordered a bowl of a spicy kind of Pho which was thick and rich and had the most tender meat in it. Have been twice. Was really hoping for great food, but was disappointed both times. Dumplings were semi-warm and tough. Entree lacked any real flavor and was swimming in sauce (which may have been ok if it had any flavor). Pho broth was lacking flavor but the portion size was good. This is hands down our favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Charleston - and has been since it first opened a few months ago. Their Pho are truly authentic and delicious. This was my first time here and I can't believe I have been missing this! It was later than I usually eat so just ordered the Pho chicken. It is a soup served in a huge bowl. At firstI thought it looked like mostly broth, but I was so wrong! The broth was delicious but so was the chicken and the sprouts (light and fresh and crunchy). I added cilantro and was so very pleased!! In fact, I actually couldn't eat it all so brought the rest home! The ambulance is quiet and peaceful and the service was excellent. We ordered Chinese take out: wonton soup, egg drop soup, house fried rice and egg rolls. Everything was delicious and made with quality ingredients, but a bit too pricy for take out. Also, not many sizing options and they didn't give us any fried noodles for the soups or fortune cookies. Other than that, one of Charleston's better take spots. read more

I believe this restaurant is very authentic. I ordered bun Tom. It had the shrimp. Fish sauce was very good too pouring over the bowl. $9.95 is a fair price and quality was the best. Doesn't live up to the name. Pho is priced high at $12-$13 but give small portions. Com suon or grilled pork rice uses wrong type of pork and was hard to chew and not flavored correctly. Rice was mushy. Service was mediocre at best. We didn't have a good time. read more

My boyfriend and I have been here twice, and while we've only ordered Chinese take out, it was excellent both times. It's a little more expensive than you're average shopping plaza Chinese take out place, but it's totally worth it. Everything seemed fresh and didn't taste like it came from a frozen bag and just thrown into the fryer. There were the same 2 or 3 staff members both times, and they were kinda busy, but they were all very nice considering. You can't expect high end service when my meal for 3 people cost $40. They were very busy and there was only one guy working. It's hard to mess up a noodle bowl. All the elements were there however the food was cold and because there wasn't anyone else working I couldn't ask in a reasonable timeframe to warm it up. I went to place an order, the guy on the phone was rude and hung up as soon as I was about to ask if I could pick up for a later time. I live about 30 minutes away, I'm not usually in that area but I did used to live down the street so I was looking forward to having this as a treat. The shrimp spring rolls were okay. I ordered the vermicelli noodle bowl with egg roll and grilled pork for dinner. The grilled pork was covered in this brown sauce, which is unlike the grilled pork I've had at other Vietnamese restaurants. I prefer the charred grilled pork. a 3.5 but with room to grow. The good service got them the 4. The place kind of smelled bad when we got there. But the pho was pretty darn good. The server was super helpful and kind. I got the meatball and fatty beef pho and was pretty happy with all of it. I got it without the noodles and that just got me extra pho and the beansprouts and other veggies in it was great. I still have some pho in my fridge and going to eat it today and bet it is even better. Pho ages well. Very mixed reviews of this place. Has great potential. Better than what was there before. And I so wanted to like this place, since I love Vietnamese food and this place is fairly close. Went there for Saturday lunch. Nicely decorated for strip mall asian restaurant. We were the only people in the restaurant and service was very prompt. I ordered from Vietnamese side of menu, and my wife from Chinese side. To start, we had Cha Hap (steamed ground pork and chicken) and hot and sour soup. Not terribly impressed with Cha Hap - sort of spam consistency, and not a lot of flavor, although accompanying fish sauce helped with that. Hot and sour soup was OK. I liked that it did not have any gloopiness, and it tasted quite fresh, but not a whole lot of depth of flavor. I had Pho with rare beef and meatballs. So that you know, the meatballs are sliced, also with spam like consistency. The broth was, at best, average. Again, little depth of flavor. It had a slight anise flavor. You can get better tasting Pho at Phuong, Co, and in the small eating area in H&L Asian Supermarket. And the noodles were significantly undercooked. My wife had chicken curry, which should have been labeled onion curry. The dish had little chicken and, without exaggeration, consisted of about 80% onion. The sauce itself was tasty enough, but no evidence of spice. I said above that the service was prompt upon our arrival. However, after we had finished our meal, our plates sat on the table for over 10 minutes before my wife had to get up and ask the server, who had her nose in a book a few tables down, for the check.
