I enjoyed the Shrimp in Lobster Sauce lunch special. The shrimp was deveined and peeled with a great texture. The sauce had a wonderful flavor definitely worth the money. Ordered takeout Pho Ga when the kids were home sick and picked up promptly to serve immediately. The broth was lukewarm- yuck- had to microwave and was grossed out by that. It's a mystery as to why something cooked to order arrived tasting like it had been sitting out all day. The sesame chicken is a great dish and I'd recommend. Also had edamame and my friend got steamed dumplings which looked delicious and she said were fabulous. I'd seen a couple reviews about sketchy pho and gave the restaurant the benefit of the doubt, but was pretty letdown. I know someone who used to work there and raves about how good they are, clean, and great family owned business. So I'll try them again next time I'm feeling pho and let them know about this cold broth experience. I'm all about second chances, so fingers crossed. read more

I am no Pho expert but this was pretty delicious! If there is a place in Charleston that blows this out of the water, please please let me know but I doubt it. The place is in a strip center in an old chinese restaurant. The decor isnt anything special. The menu is, as they describe it, Vietnamese and new york style Chinese. We had the Pho Tai and Mi Xao Ga. Both were delicious but the pho stole the show. Both meals with a beer each was $30. Service was prompt and no wait for a late Friday night dinner. I cant complain, especially when I didn't have to leave the island. read more

Had the chicken curry. The flavor was awesome. The sauce didn't really match my perception of curry (seemed more like a sauce) but it was great mixed with the fried rice. This place was packed on a Sunday evening. They have a lot of large tables so big groups are no problem here. I ordered the beef pho and was very satisfied with the taste. They add slices of onions which gives us a great flavor. The beef tasted salty and I didn't realize I liked that flavor so much. We are from out of town on vacation. Ordered carry out from this place due to COVID 19 and close to where we stay ( 5 min drive). We were very disappointed in the quality and presentation of the food. 1. We ordered two Pho, from pick up to dine ( 5 minutes), the soup were literally room temperature. We had to put it in the microwave . The soup is not tasty at all, salty. 2. We ordered a chicken pad Thai. No taste whatsoever and very greasy. It was the worst pad Thai I have ever had. 3. Moo goo GUI pan. I am not usually picky on American Chinese food , but this is worse than the worse I ever had. 4. Lemon grass chicken . There is absolutely no taste of lemon grass. Decent food but never service. 1 grumpy old man for an entire restaurant is tough to sustain. Consider hiring more bodies or having orders taken at the front. It took 16 minutes to realize we weren't even going to get water much less an order placed so we had to leave. Go to Aji Asian Bistro on Harbor View instead. Really been looking forward to Pho Saigon as have heard many good things from reputable sources. Two stars earned because the food was better than your average shopping center restaurant. However miscommunicated menu errors leave the guest with gross rubber/pepper meatball substitutions. Service was extremely lacking and slow, depending on who you get. One gentleman came in after us, got watered and ordered then his food came shortly after we got our two drinks. I have to say that I just love this place. The food is authentic, and delicious. You see my father is Vietnamese and we have struggled for the longest time to find Vietnamese cuisine that reminds him of home. I have tried just about everything on their menu and its truly delightful. I highly recommend their Pho, shrimp spring rolls and their pineapple boat dish (its a whole pineapple filled with yummy stuff). I believe they even make their own peanut sauce from scratch. I got the seafood pho and it was the best pho I've ever had in my entire life. It was so good before I added the sushi sauce and siracha. I also got the summer rolls. They were good but not amazing and my sister got the lo mein. Again, good but not amazing like the pho. Pho 10/10, summer rolls 7.5/10, lo mein 6/10. The V2 (pho with chicken) was amazing! I told the server that I did not care for fish sauce or seafood in general but wanted to try the pho, and she spoke to the chef and came back to the table and told me that there was a little fish sauce in the broth. She promised that I wouldn't taste it and she was right! It was delicious and had a lot of chicken in it. The broth was flavorful and perfect. I'd been an excellent customer at Pho Saigon for several years... until tonight when the extremely belligerent so-called "owner" came out and screamed at me and was rude and almost violent. It was because I ordered chicken and they brought me a cold dish of pork with rice. I'd told them time after time that I do not eat pork or beef, yet they insisted that the pork was chicken. I said, "I've been a customer here for years" ... to which he replied, "I don't care! Don't come back here. You're a troublemaker!" It was hard to believe he was the restauranteur since he looked like a homeless guy who just came in out of the gutter. He was a total slob. I took a picture of the dish they served me and asked a friend of mine who is a chef to tell me if it was pork or chicken. She knew right away that it was pork. My first experience with Pho Saigon was a few months ago. We ordered com dac biet and pho ga for pick up. My boyfriend loved his meal, said it was really good. Unfortunately my pho didn't live up to what I'm used to. It was good, however I felt like it wasn't as flavorful as I wanted. We went back for dinner a few weeks later and I decided to give the pho another try. When you get pho to go the contents are separated so you have to put it together. I feel like pho is best served already together lol. My pho was much better this time and my boyfriend got the com dac biet again, which he loved. Really love the pan fried & steamed dumplings here-they are fantastic-I've come here solely for them as a matter of fact. The Vietnamese coffee (hot or iced), is excellent; and you can request it to be sweet or strong. Huge plus. I love Vietnamese coffee drinks & Thai iced tea too-but more often than not; the preparation is way too Sweet for my liking. The Chinese dishes have been a let down for myself & guests I've dined with. I am actually not a huge fan of "PHO," there is something in the broth that I do not enjoy; maybe it's the cinnamon maybe it's the Chinese Allspice. It's just not nor has it ever been something I seek out. Vietnamese noodle salad however, with pork egg rolls is a regional staple I do seek out. Unfortunately, the representation of said dish here, is incredibly underwhelming. The dish is mostly rice noodles, lots of iceberg lettuce, a few carrot slices & a very small amount of protein. The fish sauce is over powering. I have yet to find excellent Vietnamese fare in Charleston, arguably Asian fare on a whole is disproportionately lacking, compared to the other vast options of dining options in this foodie city. read more

The Pho is good with the real treat being the Sesame Chicken. I get down with the Moo Goo Gai Pan and the Bun Bo Hue as well. If they're even a little busy, you'll probably be upset with how long it takes you to get out of there. Get a Tiger beer and maybe just pay for your food as soon as it arrives. Saw this place on my way back from the Charleston Crab House one night, and was super excited to have a pho place near my house! I've been itching to try their pho since. This place is new, so other reviewers have been citing their growing pains. These were not on display for me! Everything was very efficient and easy. I ordered to go from here last Saturday night. I called in around 9pm and they told me it would be about 20 minutes. I got there within 15, and everything was ready to go and bagged up already! Bill came to about $28 for a pho, 1 chicken dish, and 1 fried rice. I thought this was reasonable, and the portions were pretty good. I order the Pho Tai which is rare beef slices. The pho was pretty good. I thought there could have been a little more meat, but the broth was decent. I always add sriracha, so the soup takes on a spicy flavor anyway. Was it the best pho I've ever had? No. Go to Chinatown in Los Angeles for that. Was it good pho that I'll eat again? Totally. My guy was very pleased with his pork fried rice and chicken with mixed veggies. He had leftovers for two days, which is always a plus! They included a side of steamed rice as well, that was actually well done. The interior was nice. There were a few people eating, but it was later in the evening.
