With all my pho reviews, it's all in comparison to the quality in Southern California Vietnamese communities. This place is close. I got the number 15 round steak pho, and side of eggrolls. The broth for the pho was ok, and wasn't overly salted. The broth could have been cooked down longer, needed a bit more seasoning, with more temperature heat. The noodles were a bit chewy, and beef was not super tender. The egg rolls tasted as if they sat out for a little, and missed the crispiness. But overall, not bad. I would still recommend this place. So, we came here, bc we were treated with rudeness at the one location on Legacy. At this location, the server was very nice, but the food wasn't that good. We were very disappointed and I just don't know what happened, bc we used to come here a lot when we moved here in 2005. I think, maybe, it's either whoever that is cooking? We have since dined at many other Vietnamese restaurants and when we found one(Pho Texas, since it has changed ownership and it's called Pho Real)we really liked, bc the food were so good and Pho Que Huong didn't taste the same anymore to us. Why'd I give PQH 5 stars in the past?? I'm wildin. Maybe the nostalgia overcame me. This is a classic place with lots of memories, and the food is fine, just fine. I'm never mad to eat here and willingly do so, but I don't seek it out either. I usually get the beef stew noodle or Bangkok seafood noodle, both with egg noodle. Or a rice plate. For a casual and easy place that is consistent and not bad, I'll eat here. I'm Vietnamese and while I don't think this place has the best pho in the city, I'd say it's above average and wouldn't hesitate coming here. I've been coming here as a regular for these past few years and I have to say, they never disappoint with the pho. I always go for their P1 Large and it's just the right amount to leave you feeling full. They give good ratio of meat to noodles with slightly more meat and just recently they started giving free egg rolls for every entree ordered. Additionally the staff there are down to earth friendly and if you're a regular like me who comes every week or so they'll remember you and treat you well. We ordered door dash from this restaurant to the hospital. It came pretty quickly so this wasn't on the driver. The majority of our food was good. The only thing that wasn't was the Pho. They usually send a full quart of broth and it's always super super hot (good thing). When we got our food it was a pint and very very cold. When we called the store to ask she told us to deal with door dash and just microwave it. Our favorite location of the multiple Pho Que Huongs in DFW, we drive 15 miles further than we have to to eat at THIS PQH. Why? Because they make my daughters special fried rice (add mushrooms, gooey fried egg) just the way she wants it, and it's hit or miss at the others. My absolute fave pho to get here is the S7, the chicken curry pho. Not many other Vietnamese restaurants (besides PQH) have it. Here, it's a sublime blend of mild curry, coconut milk, curry and broth that I find myself craving on the regular. Other family faves are the super flavorful Basil Stir-Fried noodles (enough for 2 meals) and the Meatball Pho. The broth itself here is sublime - well balanced between beefiness and warm spices. It's the foundation of everything, so if your pho broth is substandard no amount of skill will save you. No worries about that at PQH - they know what h wy are doing and they do it well. Also - if you have not tried Vietnamese iced coffee you are missing out on a real treat. Coffee that you brew at the table with a small gravity coffee thingy (called a phin in Vietnamese) that drips dark chickory coffee into a generous amount of sweetened condensed milk. Entering Pho Que Huong was reminiscent of a lot of the hole-in-the-wall Asian establishments I grew up on in Manhattan and Queens. And that's definitely a good thing. A no-thrills waitstaff gets straight to the point, which is perfect for the lunch breaks while working from home. Texas tends to be a little too hot for pho (at least for me anyway), so any of their rice and noodle dishes will do, they even nail some of their thai-style dishes with a great deal of authenticity. They have two sizes for pho - regular and large. The regular is enough for me but I see quite a few people get the large one and they're huge! The shrimp and grilled chick spring rolls are good. I love their spicy beef soup, beef stew soup, and curried chicken (or seafood) soup. The Pho and other soups come with all the accompaniments - basil, cilantro, sprouts jalapeno, and lime.
