This is still my favorite place to eat whenever I'm feeling under the weather! I stopped by Friday afternoon to eat some chao long, or porridge with intestines, and it made me so much feel better. Prices have increased since the last time I went, but it's expected. The portion size is still the same, but they do serve it in an actual bowl now instead of the plastic bowl. They also take cards so you don't have to bring cash or pay via Zelle! Their bo bia is no longer 2 for $3, but 2 for $5 so it's a big jump. I guess I'll only be ordering that whenever I'm super craving for them.

We stopped by on a Monday afternoon and the food came out surprisingly decent lol i didnt expect much tbh, but both Chao Vit and Bun Dau Mam Tom turned out tasty. Bonus point, we didn't feel dizzy afterwards as we often do when we dine at Chinese or Vietnamese restaurant. So, it's a good indicator that they didnt use that much of MSG. I took out one star because they didn't provide us water as other food stands in hmart or mitsuwa often do. Vietnamese food court skims on this for some reasons

Quick bite in the food court. I got bun bo hue, and nothing beats a bowl of hot soup in a cold day in Texas. The soup was flavorful pact with a lot of meat and noodles. My mom was quite satisfied with her bun mang vit. A little pricy for a small portion in a plastic bowl. But, not bad for a quick food court setting.

My feeling is truly mixed about this place. It is located in this Vietnamese mall with many different stalls inside of the food court. I came here for a late lunch on a weekday so it wasn't too busy. Stood there for like 5 mins before someone came out to take my order, but she was nice. I ordered the BBH, came out fast. First observation- the portion is really small for the price. Then I tried the broth, it was just warm.... But the taste was pretty solid and complex. The pig foot was hard and again, somewhat just warm, not hot.... This place has potential, but execution was lacking. I may come back and try again one day.

    DUCK RICE SOUP (#1)

I absolutely loved my order at Chao Vit Thanh Da. THEY ARE CASH ONLY! Many stores in this food court are, so I would plan accordingly ;) The Duck Rice was very affordable. It came with a bowl of duck porridge, AND a plate of duck over veggies with sesame sauce on the side. (Peanuts! allergy allert*) The sesame sauce is meant for the duck, I started off dipping my duck in it, but after my first bite, I dumped all of my sauce over the pieces of duck on my plate. It is a duck salad with a bowl of soup on the side. I finished my dishes over the course of 2.5 meals. The soup was tasty, but slightly on the blander side, so I mixed in some of their sauces. I highly recommend you take the cracker and throw some of that duck salad on top and it will be amazing. :) I have only tried this shop one time, the cashier spoke English pretty well and he was incredibly nice. The food also came out in a reasonable amount of time. (I came on a weekday around 1:00 pm). The food court connects to the "mall" to the left of the grocery store. It is towards the back left corner.

We absolutely love this place. We have been coming here for years. All the good is great! Typically, I order our food then go grab groceries while the food is prepared. Works out great!

Solid pho in the food court. Even though this is in a food court don't let that fool you, the food is better than food court quality. Ordered a beef pho and the broken rice special. The kitchen knows what they are doing. The food comes out in styrofoam and on a cafeteria tray but that just adds to it. In general, this food court has some gems and this is one of them.

A healthy well balanced meal for only $8. You get a duck salad, congee, and shrimp crackers. Not so healthy though when eaten as a snack in

It is hard to describe this place. First of all, I have no clue what the name means. Second, I really cannot describe what type of Vietnamese restaurant is this place. This is not your typical vietnamese restaurant which makes it unique. It is more like a place that sells street food that are mostly congee and soups. My GF got the duck congee. Thank goodness that she chose. I would not know what I would get. The duck congee is a misnomer. They should rename it as salad with duck and a side of congee. The price was reasonable. For about $8, we got salad with duck meat and a bowl of congee. The salad was like a coleslaw. The cabbage were chopped big enough to be picked up with a chopstick, then drizzled with a vinegar/fish sauce based dressing. The dressing was delicious. It achieved the perfect harmony of sourness, saltiness from the fish sauce, and sweetness from Zeus only know where it came from. As for the duck, it was just boiled duck. I am not a big fan of ducks with the exception of a certain duck named Donald who I heart so much. Nothing special with this duck though. It just tasted like one. So, to add more flavor on it, I dipped it on to the sauce that it came with. The sauce and the dressing might be the same. I just ate the duck with the salad, and they worked so well together. For the congee, this has to be the tastiest and the most flavorful congee that I my tongue ever tasted. I would like to have more, but my GF ate them all which made me realized afterward why I she made me eat most of the salad and the duck. The taste of ginger was very pronounced but a hint of sweetness balanced it out. It was season just right. Adding anything on it would just ruin its taste. The downside is that this place does not accept any credit card. I noticed that the that most authentic asian restaurant in the Dallas Metro area are shady that they only take cash. I suppose more advantageous for them to only accept cash only, but how can I gain more points using my credit card. This really made me sad. I am so close to have enough credit card miles to fly to Timbuktu. Overall, the experience was something very unique. I could not say that I really love this dish since I will definitely not get it anymore, unless of course, my GF gets it and could not finish it.

Chao is too thick feel like too much monosodium. The goi using cheap cabbage only couple pieces old chicken. Chicken is dried like hell. No meat at all, I rather pay higher price get quality foods than cheap foods n can't eat.

#9 pork sausages\ misc pork goodies and duck salad
    Duyen N.

Being an OG, happy hour'n with some appetizers, beers and family and friends. Order #9 for a variety of pork sausages, intestines, liver, ear and more pork parts! Simply boiled and served with two different sauces. Fermented fish paste for the ones who love the stinky and salty. And ginger sweetened fish sauce which is my fave. Ordered by the pound, 2 lb was enough for people. Also had the duck salad. Steamed duck with cabbage slaw, peanuts and mixture of herbs. And served with sweetened ginger fish sauce on the side. Not essentially on the menu, normally served with bun mang vit (duck noodle soup with bamboo shoots). This food shop is def a mom and pop hole in the wall. And for the love of feasting with family and friends, this is it. We call that "nhau" in Vietnamese. Wish I could keep it a secret between my family and friends but it was too delicious and was so home comforting yumminess, couldn't help it but to tell the world. Located in the food court of Cali Saigon. We byob'ed and hoped nobody would kick us out since there were signs everywhere: "no outside food and drinks"! Most of the food shops in this food court is cash only. Be prepared!

Bun mang vit! Duck bamboo noodle soup!
    Katina D.

This place is truly authentic which is something I love about Cali Saigon mall. I couldn't decide over the menu because I wanted all of them. The dishes served here aren't typically served in a pho restaurant. I got the Bamboo duck noodle soup (Bun Mang Vit) which was flavorful and everything I ever wanted... Lol. I'm normally very particular about Vietnamese food but this one was still good. I also heard that the rice porridge was good here but haven't gotten a chance to try it yet.

Dry chicken, bland soup, just half lime, soggy sprouts, one chili, over price, let you pay cash still charge you tax, bye, very bad experience, I would like 0 star if it's possible.

Beautiful colors in the food! Tastes amazing. There's a pig foot in there which I felt remiss to decline if that is the prep

If you're talking the combo of freshness, taste, price, and friendliness then this has gotta be a 5. Situated in an indoor food court, you won't be at a sit down waiter service type place but that isn't what they go for here. They crush the aforementioned FTPF requirements. I had the Bun Bo Hue and absolutely had to include the pig's foot simply because I hadn't had one before. The owner knowingly said "maybe not the blood cake?" I laughed and said no thanks, I've had blood sausage and just not my thing. Fun guy, great food. Nice work!
