One of the best Vietnamese restaurants, well known for its whole baked fish served with a variety of fresh vegetables. We enjoyed it today along with several other delicious dishes. Excellent service and a warm, family-style atmosphere.

Rare steak for 7 course beef
    Gordon D.

The family came here to try the traditional 7 course beef, which is understood by a lot of Vietnamese restaurants to have the following items: Beef congee Rare beef and vinegar broth Beef meatball (but they call it cha) Beef salad Three types of beef sausage - one with fat, one with onion, and one wrapped in a banana leaf The experience was decent, and we get to sample a variety of things for the first time. It was plenty of food up to 6 people. We didn't have any particular favorite entrees, everything other than the congee was expected to be wrapped in rice paper so it was plenty of food. The service was unfortunately pretty bad, even for Asian low effort standards. The food wasn't memorable enough to make up for it. It was also a pretty quiet Saturday afternoon, with about three other tables. We probably would not recommend coming back.

My boyfriend's family has been coming here for years, and he's always raved about their catfish spring rolls. We finally had an opportunity to come with his family, and I loved the pork and beef spring rolls. So healthy and such a fun experience to make your own rolls. I can't stop thinking about this meal. They also had really delicious Vietnamese iced coffee as well. I can't wait to come back again!

Veggies, dipping sauces for catfish spring rolls, and paper spring rolls.

Catfish spring rolls taste so delicious with the sauce and when you try to take a small bate of the catfish skin it's crunchy. Also it comes with veggies, paper spring rolls, sauce for the spring rolls, bowl of water to dip the spring rolls so it can be soft so you can roll up with catfish, noodles and other vegetables in your spring rolls. Service is very nice, after we are finished eating we have to pay at the cashier counter. The place is clean, atmosphere is like with a big group of family and friends to talk, having fun, & enjoy the food.

Part of bo 7 mon- it's good

Came here twice with my family. It's pretty good but a bit more priced. Some dishes very good, some okay. Found some dishes that accompany drinking. The thit nuong has very good flavors and tender. The beef la lot is good out of the 7 beef. The meatball was pretty dry one visit. The fried rice is okay, a bit on the bland side. Overall we would come back though. Maybe try their baked catfish. The price of their catfish clay pot fish and sweet and sour soup is a bit expensive though.

Dumplings in chili sauce and beef porridge

Parking: Plenty of open parking spaces since it's located in a strip mall. Interior: Clean. Plenty of seating. Service: It wasn't busy when I went, so service was fast. Food: Dumplings with chili sauce was good. I wish the dumplings were separate from the chili sauce so you can dip it. But instead, everything was already mixed together. The beef porridge was excellent! Very flavorful! I felt the comfort of the soup in every bite! Drinks: I only ordered water lol Overall: I would definitely come back and try other items on their menu! 2 thumbs up from me! :)

Very authentic Vietnamese food. The broth for the noodle dishes are very flavorful and authentic. I've had their bún bò Huế and phở. They include so much meat, I couldn't even finish it all!

    Lemongrass grilled chicken

.... AWESOME & AUTHENTIC ..... GO!!! Don't let the location area fool you. Great food and Vietnamese decor - with mini floating lamps hang from ceiling and melodic Vietnamese music. Large dining area with high-back booths along one wall (in great condition and very cushy) and lots of tables with thick cushioned chairs (also in great shape). Very clean and smells good. (Lots of Asians here at lunch - a very good sign of food quality and authenticity.) I got #R6/Lemongrass Grilled Chicken: Comes with traditional broth soup, white rice and garnish. Excellent! Very authentic. Good cook, not dry and good flavor. Just what I expected. (Personally, it would be better with 2 minutes less time on the grill to be more moist and 2x-3x more sauce... as it was, it barely covered the chicken, and nothing dripped to the plate. Was more of a skimpy drizzle.) Huge menu, lots of proteins and types of meals. Protein Options: Frog legs, squid, crab, clam, pork, beef, chicken, shrimp, lobster, fish, quail, Korean BBQ, & vegetarian. Meal Options: Soups, vermicelli, egg noodle, grilled, fried, 10 fried rice options, stir fry, hotpot and traditional house specials. FYI - the Shaking Beef is supposed to be the best in the menu but I didn't see it listed on the menu and forgot to get it!! Ugh. Next time I'm getting either the #R9/Flame-Broiled Marinated Sirloin or the #R8/Sliced Beef sautéed w/onion & Lemongrass. They look great! One of my favorite Viet restaurants that serve fried fish. It was large enough to feed a whole group of us. We ate family style so we ordered a variety of dishes but hands down my favorite was the fried fish. We came specifically for the fried fish cause it's actually grilled then fried which gives it an extra oomph! The fish is served with a scallion oil and fried onions which is the cherry on top especially if you decide to make some spring rolls with the fish. It's chefs kiss. Nothing could be better. I highly recommend the fried fish, Bo la lot, the winter melon drink. Honestly, you're not gonna go wrong ordering anything here. Can't wait to come back.

Compared to all of the other Vietnamese spots in this part of Dallas' Lil Saigon (#1), I don't know if there's a more complete establishment than Dong Que. Most spots here are specialty driven, but this place has the versatility to offer a little bit of everything and do it reasonably well. Đồng Quê, loosely translated, refers to the countryside (#2) and their vast menu makes up a number of regional dishes from bun bo hue to Vietnamese style hotpot (lẩu). They're known for their 7 course beef (bò bảy món) and baked fish (cá nướng) but I've had a number of other outstanding dishes here that I really enjoyed. Their pho was really great. Fragrant and pungent, which is how I normally like it. The side of nuoc beo is clutch, especially for that extra fattiness. Bo luc lac is tasty, though I think they could always add more beef. I've had some good luck with their banh 3 vi platter, which comes decked out with fixings (thit nuong + sugar cane rolls, lettuce, etc.) and is the perfect option for sharing. Seafood lovers would do themselves a disservice if they passed on the baked mussels. I also think their banh canh (tapioca starch soup) is flavorful and their hu tieu game is on point. Even for simple com (rice) and bun (noodle) dishes, there is a lot to appreciate. And of course, their appetizers, like cha gio, goi cuon, nem cuon are all excellent starters. They are also one of the few Viet spots that will also front as a bakery, with a number of daily pastries, desserts, fried items that they'll sell out front. I haven't left here without a box of something from banh pia (Viet style mooncake) to dau phong (Viet style peanut brittle). My previous visits here with incredibly generous company, so my meals were lavishly abundant with plenty of take home items. I've been fortunate to come here without reservations and be seated relatively quickly. There are tables for all sizes, despite how tight the seating may seem for such a low ceiling, semi-narrow interior. The ambiance is super Viet and just about as local as it gets. If there was any knock, it might be the prices, which are on the higher side for restaurants like this. Speaking Vietnamese is obviously a plus, but certainly many will do just fine without it. ______________ (#1) aka Garland, TX. (#2) Not to be confused with actual "country" (quốc gia) but more akin to homeland (quê hương). #TiengVietQua

OMG by far the best Vietnamese foods in DFW!!!! It's far for me but worth the time to satisfy the Vietnamese craving. I ordered the BBH and it was very delicious. Honestly everything here is good. I even tried my friends dish. He got the crawfish fried rice and the pork chop dish! So good. Service is friendly and it can get packed. We didn't wait long at all. Can't wait to come back and try more!!!

We ordered Bo 7 Mon and an order of baked mussels for a family of 4. We had leftovers. We probably could've done without the mussels. They were good. Unexpectedly had peanut butter taste to them - I personally don't like peanut butter, but the rest of the family liked the dish. Bo 7 Mon is beef cooked 7 ways. It came as a porridge and as a salad. Then we had sliced beef to cook in a vinegar broth. It came as a meatloaf, sausage, beef patty, and grilled beef roll along with spring roll, lettuce, and dipping sauce. It was enjoyable. Walking in; it smelled like authentic Vietnamese restaurant, and we were not disappointed. Server is very nice and spoke Vietnamese and English! I would definitely recommend double checking the bill though. We were almost overcharged!

You come here for the fish! We had to place an order for the fish ahead of time but it was worth it. The skin of the fish was crispy and cooked just right. And when you sliced a piece of with the fish meat, it tasted wonderfully from the smoothness of the fish with the crispness of the skin. This fish is big enough for like four to five adult members. I also had to order bo luc lac to try and it was just as good as the fish. We got the flan to go since we were too full to eat at the restaurant. And the flan was a nice breakfast or lunch dessert as well. So many good things to eat here that I haven't tried.

I was…read morevisiting from southern California and have had tons of great pho there so I had to try this out. Pho is $20 definitely a bit pricey, but wow. I devoured this bowl. The broth tastes so clean but deep in flavor. The beef I usually eat in pho is dry and pretty fatty but at Ngon it was thick and tender with a lot of it. I forgot what the other dish with the vermicelli noodles is called but sooo good. Fish sauce is delicious and the meat was juicy and grilled to perfection. I can't wait to come back to Texas just for this restaurant

I absolutely love the decor - straw fish swimming above you, straw light and cherry blossoms…read moreoverhead. Once you step in this restaurant, you know you're in for good Vietnamese food (never mind the awards outside!) The staff was nice and answered our questions - but now the food: Bun cha gio thit nuong - chargilled pork and deep fried shallots were a solid touch - though I think I would've enjoyed seared shallots more. There was plenty of flavor in the meat juice imbueing the dish, fresh vegetables tasted like spring breeze and sweetened fish sauce tied everything together like ka-pow. Shaking tenderloin - the butterfly pea flour rice was purple (a fun gimmick) and woof, the marinated beef tenderloin was a huge success. I really enjoyed how tender and juicy the meat was - I kept chewing to savor the flavor for some time. Cha gio chat - these were served fresh out of the fryer and came in piping hot. Great crispy spring rolls with a good size and nice vegetables
