My uncle bought four sandwiches here in 7/19/25 and the five family members who ate the combination banh mi all got sick with the same symptoms - fever, nausea, stomaches, chills, diarrhea, and vomiting. It's the worst case of food poisoning I've ever seen and I am a registered nurse. My mom was in the ER twice, missed a week of work, and my husband missed two days of work and had to visit his doctor office. In addition my two year son was very sick with all the same symptoms and had to be brought in for a check up. I would advise everyone to stay away!!! Go somewhere else! I am filing a complaint with the state health department of Dallas/Garland so that they're aware but this place should be shut down and not serve the public! Give your customers their refund. You've caused my family a lot of pain and suffering this week and my toddler was the sickest he's ever been after eating your food! This mommy will make sure you're paid a visit from the health department. We bought the "buy three, get one free" sandwich deal, but unfortunately the bread on all of them was very stale at least one or two days old. The rice dish that was sitting on the table was also a disappointment; it was dry, hardened, and clearly old. The dessert was the one highlight great flavor, but it was extremely sweet. I came from Canada and heard about Banh mi Cali here is the best in Garland, Texas. So we decide to give it a try because my husband loves banh mi and the Che 3 mau . There is plenty of parking in the front. The shop made fresh bread every day. I don't know why some people said the bread is old, not in my case. We had been trying banh mi from Canada and most places in California, but we like here the most. I loved how the bread tasted, not dry and tasteless like other places. It's tasted like butter bread, I loved eating it alone without meat. The desert was not too sweet. The beans were just cook right, not mushy. A lot of place over cook the beans, normally if I buy from other places, I asked for no sugar. But at Banh Mi Cali, I order normal with little ice and still taste good. The sticky rice was soft not too dry either. There are so many type of Vietnamese foods and snacks, plenty of choices to choose from. It's make me feel like I am in Vietnam. Okay, so i only eat banh mi here so everything was okay until this week, i eat banh mi with PATE. pâté can contain bacteria that may cause stomach illness, especially if it is not properly stored or made with raw or undercooked ingredients. The next day i had fever come with 10mins and all the symptoms came right after (dehydration, High fever, Headache, Muscle aches or body pain, Fatigue or weakness, Vomiting) it lasted 6 days. This is the new bánh mì place in Garland at Walnut Street & Jupiter, in the same strip as Pho Bang and New Truong Nguyen Market. Their banh mi are bigger than Saigon Deli and Quoc Bao, there's no B3G1 specials and price starts at $5.49. I got a combination, it was toasty and filled with meats/veggies, but I still prefers Saigon Deli. However, their Vietnamese chè is pretty legit! We got passionfruit tea, chè 3 màu and sâm bộ lượng and they were delicious! The cup size were huge and price wasn't bad either ($5.49-$6 per cup). I like that they used real white and red beans for my chè 3 màu, and they also added other classic chè toppings that makes it taste so good like bánh lọt, hột lựu & coconut! Restaurant was clean and service was fast. There were 4 parties inside when we came and by the time I finished paying, my order was ready for pick-up. The banh mi is just mediocre. I tried the cha ca (fried fish) and don't recommend this one. Also ordered various ones for the family to try. The combo is usually my go to and these were also just ok. The pate and bo (Vietnamese butter/mayo) didn't stand out. Also had their avocado smoothie and from the color I knew it wasn't going to be good. It was very pale green instead of green meaning there wasn't enough avocado. When I drank into it, it was so plain and not blended smoothly. The sugar drink was also alright. This is a newer one than the one I usually go to so I was excited to try it out. The owners were really sweet, speaking to my great aunt in Vietnamese. The deal I think is buy 3 get 1 for the banh mi and for the cup desserts there was a deal but I don't remember. They have he coconut jello, pandan, and coffee flavors. Really solid banh mi! The bread was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Service was a little slow but probably because they just opened on July 24. The workers were very nice and attentive. They had a variety of drinks and che (desserts). I got the che khoai mon and coconut agar which were reasonably priced at $3 I usually get Banh mi thit nuong but they were out of the grilled pork. Will have to try next time. The banh mi ga xe (shredded chicken was tasty...a little dry but good). I could have used more Mayo in it. The Banh mi xiu mai (meatball) was flavorful but cold. They were not shaped like meatballs, perhaps it was the last of it? The banh mi dac biet is always a fave. I liked the meats and had enough pate and Mayo. It was buy 3 get 1 free. It's a little pricey for a new banh mi place compared to the other well established banh mi place. The dessert (Che ba may) was pretty good , I think that was the highlight of the items here. This is the closest to the perfect crunchy outside and soft fluffy inside Banh Mi I've ever had here in Dallas area. I believe I paid $2 for 3 small ones. We ate it right away walking around the shopping plaza and decided to come back to get more since we live far away. When I came back they have long baguette available for $3 for 2.
