I ordered the home cooked shrimp and broccolini. It was fresh, healthy and tasteless/bland. I nibbled at the huge pieces of broccolini and brought it home where I seasoned and sautéed in a pan. I ordered the duck blood to go yesterday. 4 orders, it came with lots of veggies which is a plus. It was really good, it had lots of meat. I paid almost $100 for it. I believe it's $13. it doesn't look like much though... Ordered a a pho like bowl off their "beyond pho" section. Char siu with some noodles ($9). Tasted pretty standard. It was a pretty big portion and some people might have a hard time finishing. I felt pretty full afterward. Other people got the cold vermicelli, which I might've tried once before. It was decent. The pho place I usually go to was slammed today so I tried coming here and since it was my first time, I had no idea what to expect. I was seated and server took my order. I ordered a vermicelli bowl and spring rolls. Order did not arrive after 20 mins of waiting. Usually it doesn't take that long for noodles and spring rolls. My usual pho spot would have those things out in 10 mins. And what was confusing was that they had a buffet table where people were getting up and getting their own food. I was confused. Did I miss something? Was I supposed to get my own food? Tried looking at their reviews which said it was their vegetarian buffet. Well, I didn't order anything vegetarian so I tried waiting for my food and nothing was coming out so I grabbed my purse and left. It was a very frustrating and weird experience. GO TO QUOC HUONG, the food and service there is so much better. We came in, 2 tables were eating and drinking and we placed an order to go, 2 bahn mi and a Cajun fried rice. The bahn mi were ok, they had a small amount of meat and ok in flavor. The Cajun fried rice had no egg and NO FLAVOR, we had to doctor it up when getting home. The women at the counter was so rude, she literally ignored us and made sure every other table and person was talked to and helped. We were nice the entire time and the younger man was nice as well. That women made us feel so unwelcome so instead of waiting for our food there, we left to look around the center, we walked into Quoc Huong and oh my, they were so nice and welcoming, we grabbed some potstickers and a beer, sat and talked for about 30 mins. We went back to this place: Nam hua, still food wasn't ready, no acknowledgment, and mind you they WERE NOT BUSY. It's really not that hard to at least acknowledgment the presence of a customer, there is no reason a to go should take 30 plus mins when slow and be treated poorly. read more

One of my favorite Vietnamese places to go eat. Their banh xeo is massive and so crispy. Their canh chua and bun rieu is amazing. I love that you can order anything there and it turns out good. Service is a bit slow but once you find them, they get it to you but the hard thing is finding someone. read more

Their duck congee was pretty good! My mom and I shared a plate of cabbage salad that goes with it and got our own bowl of congee. It was filling and there were plenty of duck meat in there. I also got the escargot appetizer. It wasnt as good as Oc and Lau in California but it was decent. It needed to be cooked more. Something is wrong with this place. Came here for lunch but I ordered it for to-go. Vegetarian lunch buffet was going on. There were about 5-7 tables. I am sitting near the front and I am listening to their kitchen talking extremely loud. Something is wrong... I work in a restaurant and staffs should not be talking that much. Sounds like an argument between women. People are coming up to the cashier and asking when their food would be ready. All I ordered was a vegetarian stir fried noodle. First time here and I am having a bad feeling. The decor and the light is very old and red to be updated. They have a broken fridge in the cash register area to store glasses and other junk. The table is sticky. The light is very dimmed just like in a horror story. Just got my Hu Tieu Xao and it smells pretty bad. The temperature is warm and slightly cold. Did they forget my food (I asked the cashier once it hit the 10 minutes mark and he said it will be out soon). It's very greasy. Just tasted it. It's very good. Just cold and a little but warm. Not hot like you expect stir fry to be but like room temperature water. Ugh I really wanted to like this place but the time it takes to make the food and the temperature makes me worry and scared. Again, something is wrong. Giving a star for vegetarian option, giving two for tasty food. But overall, if you're the owner/worker here, fix the place. It has potential. Stop the argument/loud talk backs in the back, fix the lights, and clean everything thoroughly. Just renovate this restaurant. read more

WOOOOOOOooooooOOo! Im so glad that I've finally discovered another Vietnamese gem that offers a buffet option :) Not only do they offer the buffet option, it seems as if the place is also a mini store where you could buy Vietnamese snacks and sandwiches. The service was above average for a typical VIetnamese restaurant. I came here with my family after the funeral of my late uncle to celebrate his life on a Saturday during the lunch hour. The restaurant itself wasnt very busy at the time which was an advantage to us so we could easily seat 30-40 people that were with us at the time. We ordered the vegetarian spring rolls, Vietnamese chicken salad (Goi Ga), and the seafood hotpot. Now, I'm normally pretty picky with hotpots because there's so many different types offered in the DFW metroplex (Chinese ect). I was REALLY impressed with the vegetarian springrolls and the HOTPOT. The broth was perfectly seasoned and it was perfect to eat during the cold weather. The hotpot came with rice noodles and vegetables as well! YA'LL have to TRY the hotpot!!!! Overall: You can definitely expect to see me come back to try the buffet or to be face deep in the hotpot again! Im such a big fan of the hotpot and recommend it to everyone! For fans of Vietnamese cuisine, this is a shopping center that you must acquaint yourself with. There are several sit- down Vietnamese restaurants, a food mall that serves "fast food" Vietnamese, and an awesome grocery store that has an excellent selection of fresh fish. The Nam Hua is the first restaurant you see as you turn off Beltline into the shopping center. We've been to several of the others farther in, down by the grocery store (a separate review). I tried Nam Hua for lunch and thought it was excellent. I had a beef broth soup with brisket and "meat balls." The meat balls were really some kind of beef sausage. The soups are large and come with a plate of assorted fresh herbs to add. You definitely need to do so because the flavor is just wonderful. The soups are filling, and delicious. I like it because you don't feel weighted down for the rest of the day. The prices are extremely reasonable. A huge bowl of soup (I ate half and brought the rest home) was just $6.50. The place is clean and well kept. The biggest problem is language. I wanted to order beef stew which is on the window and they have a beef stew sandwich. But it was not on the menu and it was impossible to get the waitress to understand what I wanted, so I ended up with soup, which turned out fine. Next time I will go to the window and point to the "Beef Stew" written on the window. We also had trouble getting curry. It was in the review posted on the wall, but the waitress did not understand what we meant when we said we wanted curry. Most of the menu is soup, although there are a few sandwiches, rice w/meat dishes, and noodle with meat dishes. But mostly soups. If you haven't tried Vietnamese soups, you need to put this at the top of your "to eat" list. The place is modest and unassuming, but do not be fooled, this is a restaurant that serves some seriously good Vietnamese food. I plan to return again and again. read more

This place is da bomb when it comes to finger food! We had the snails, clams, and tamarind crab and I tell you, we were super satisfied! My two friends who are from Florida recommended this place since their local friends live in Texas. We are all foodie and this place did a great job on satisfying our taste buds. Snails-baked with a fish taste dipping sauce was so scrumptious we had two plates Clams-first plate we had the clam was small. Second plate clam was double the size and the dipping sauce was interesting, spicy oil pepper. Tamarind crab- perfect taste, crab was ok but not quite fresh, I gave them credit for the sauce Disappointment: order oc with coconut juice and they gave us escargot meat that was already peel! Totally not what we order and no wonder why it's not on the menu. The lady said she can special make it. Don't do it!!! She kept trying to convince us it was better but nope it was not! They did not give us a bill to show us the break down. Our bill came out to be $109 and was not sure how that was the case. Overall, I will come back for escargot and tamarind crabs. This restaurant has been serving the Vietnamese community for quite a long time. I have tried several dishes here and it was a hit-and-miss experience. My favorite dish is Banh Xeo - Vietnamese crepe. To those who has never been tried, it has a crispy fried wrapper with different fillings as shrimp, bacon and beansprouts. To serve, you can roll it into rice paper with herbs and veggies and dip it into a sweet and tangy fish sauce. They did a very good job on making the crepe extremely crispy and the dipping sauce is above good. Grilled quails and other drinking food are also good. I would not recommend broken rice plate here because it was not up to my standards. The grilled pork chops were lack of flavor and the egg meatloaf was normal. They also have food-to-go and vegan options for many dishes. They seem to be popular with that but I haven't tried so it is hard for me to comment. read more

Mi thap cam kho (egg noodles with meat combination - dry style) & chao (rice porridge). Cooked egg noodles in a big bowl of thinly sliced pork, seasoned ground pork, sliced calamari, shrimp, quail egg and bits of fried pork/ fried pork belly fat/ fried dried shrimp. Bunch of veggies, pickled jalapenos (*essential) and then pour the homemade sauce over it with a squeeze of lime juice and wala! Also comes with a small bowl of broth. Yumminess all in my mouth! This will be my to go place for dried style noodles.. at least in the Dallas area. Don't forget to order a side of gio chao quay (fried sticks of bread). The bf loves to dunk the fried breadsticks into the broth. Chao tasted like the homemade kind you always get when you're sick and your mom magically whips up a pot. It was pork based. Had pieces of pork in it plus fried onion to top it off. The rice porridge also comes with a side of gio chao quay. Awesome on a cold day or of course when you're down and under with the blues. If you love coconut; The coconut juice is fresh from the coconut. They carve out the flesh from the shell and put it in a cup with the juices. Slurp! The downside...... Drove an hour away to get the most basic pho. It was the first (and hopefully only time) that I got pho with no BASIL!!! Really? Realllly???!!! I got a plate with cilantro and bean sprouts and one lime (mint? my beautiful basil? sliced pepper? where were you hiding?) It was hard for me to get past that.. but I did. Then I took a bite of the noodles and it was undercooked. The broth was underwhelming. And my friends, you know when you crave pho.. you crave it hard. You cannot fix a pho craving with a sad half attempt. Luckily, I got to try the filet mignon with bell peppers & onions, grilled pork with broken rice, beef salad, and the spring rolls. Thank goodness these were all pretty good. I went here with a Vietnamese friend who said the cooks here still cut everything by hand and a lot of love goes into this. And she knows the owner who is an amazing person. So aww geeez... now I feel all horrible complaining about the pho. But BASIL people BASIL.
