Don't let the playful name fool you--this is so much more than a pho restaurant. The pho is excellent, but what keeps me coming back are the dishes that taste like they came from a Vietnamese family kitchen. Bún bò Huế, bánh khọt, bánh xèo, canh chua cá, cá kho, thịt kho trứng... the kind of food that brings back memories before you even realize you were missing them. There are days when I'm homesick, craving a home-cooked Vietnamese meal, or simply don't have it in me to cook--and this is where I want to go. It feels comforting and familiar, like being fed by someone who knows exactly what you needed. And then there's the chè! They have one of the best selections I've found, plus they cater, so it truly has become my little one-stop shop for Vietnamese comfort food. Some restaurants you love because the food is good. Others you love because the food makes you feel something. This one feels like home. By far my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in DFW.

I've had their pho, Bo luc lac (shaken beef), bun thit nuong cha gio, and hu tieu and they're all fantastic and flavorful. The Bo luc lac's portion was HUGE and it's only $12.50! The beef was cooked to a perfect medium rare, covered in a velvety delicious sauce, and was loaded with sautéed onions and bell peppers. In the picture, the protein and veggies literally tower over the rice. It was soo much food, I took half of it to-go. I'd normally see this dish priced at over $15 easily for a fraction of the meat that Pho OK gives.
