This mom and pop Vietnamese restaurant is incredibly underrated and a must try! I love how their pricing is very fair compared to other Vietnamese restaurants, and their portions are HUGE. I've had their pho, Bo luc lac (shaken beef), bun thit nuong cha gio, and hu tieu and they're all fantastic and flavorful. The Bo luc lac's portion was HUGE and it's only $12.50! The beef was cooked to a perfect medium rare, covered in a velvety delicious sauce, and was loaded with sautéed onions and bell peppers. In the picture, the protein and veggies literally tower over the rice. It was soo much food, I took half of it to-go. I'd normally see this dish priced at over $15 easily for a fraction of the meat that Pho OK gives. Could not believe the food. It felt like I was eating their grandma cooking. Extremely family oriented, the cashier is the chef when the grandma is doing something. The food was spectacular. They only had soup noodles left when I got in at 630pm. They close at 7 daily and Saturday at 5pm. If you only want to be serviced like god, this may not the best place for you. But if you want authentic pho and other Vietnamese food with very affordable price, you won't be disappointed. I have been here regularly and really like this place. It is a gem hidden in the city. The only thing I could complain is that they do not run business until late everyday. This little establishment is pretty unassuming so you easily can pass it without knowing. I had good amount of parking around it so it was easy for me to park for my weekday work lunch. The small combo pho came quickly with all the standard fresh veggies. The broth is flavorful but it is on the heavier side of salt and MSG. I was fully expecting reverse psychology based on the name of this establishment. I was expecting it to be PHO good or PHO excellent. As it turns out, it was just OK. Not great. Broth was bland, noodles a little overcooked, and chicken was chewy. I can forgive a average bowl of PHO because PHO is just amazing, you know? Noodles and warmth and chicken and just overall goodness even when it's not great and is only OK. What tipped the scales for this Shinigami is I had to wait an extra five minutes for the plate with basil and jalapeños, and the other goodies that you put in the bowl. Not sure what the delay there was. Also I ordered sweetened coffee with condensed milk at the same time I ordered my entrée. I finished my entrée, which was a large bowl, and went up to the register. I have to backtrack and explain that I saw one of the servers sipping on a freshly made iced sweetened condensed milk coffee drink as I was eating and wondered where mine was. So when I went to pay my bill, I mentioned that I did not get my iced coffee and should not be charged for it. The server said oh it's right here would you like it to go? I would have actually liked to drink it with my meal thank you, although perhaps the server who was drinking hers decided that she should have her iced coffee before I got mine. In the scheme of things based on the world we live in today this is all minor but the point of this entire website or application is to review a restaurant based on the quality of their food and service. I was shocked to discover that PHO OK is actually less than OK. I wanted it to be better. Also, I should mention that the ambience is very dreary and at the back of the restaurant, there's a corner with a bunch of boxes and supplies all stacked up where seating should be. My wife accidentally ordered pick-up from here instead of another Vietnamese place down the street. So glad she did. I've ordered Banh Mi from pretty much every Vietnamese restaurant within a 10 minute drive from my office in Richardson and within many miles via Uber Eats to my home. I moved here from Houston several years ago and hit up many, many Vietnamese places there as well specifically for Banh Mi. I had looked at ordering from this place in the past, but on their website - it says that Banh Mi was coming soon. My wife, thinking she was ordering from somewhere else, ended up ordering Banh Mi along with her pho. Out of many Vietnamese restaurants I've eaten from over the years - this is by far my favorite Banh Mi. Great presentation, fresh vegetables, tasty meat, delicious bread, and a good amount of that magic sauce that many restaurants seem to lack. Excellent spring rolls and pho too. Despite arriving on a busy weekday during the lunch hour, service was very fast. I've resisted trying Vietnamese food and it is my loss. I ordered Pho with flank steak and my husband ordered vermicelli noodles with fried pork. Our Server was attentive even though the dining room was at least 75% full and there were only two Severs. Our order was taken and arrived about ten minutes later. The fragrance of the Pho hit us before it even arrived at our table. It smelled unusual but incredible, like a delectable combination of tea and broth. The taste was everything promised; I loved it. My husband handed me a small bite to try of his lunch and it was actually even better than my Pho! We also tried the spring rolls with peanut sauce, which was also good. All in all we had an incredible lunch in pleasant surroundings for under $30 before tip. The portion sizes were perfect for lunch. We will absolutely be back. This is a great little mom and pop shop. When I came in and got the menu.... it was simple and straight to the point. They have a small list of items compared to a lot of the other pho shops in the area. In addition, the restaurant was clean and didnt have that chlorinated smell I often deal with when you get into one of these pho shop. I stuck with the pho tai bo vien, which has always been a classic. The broth was good... and not fatty, which I like as I am getting a little heftier day by day. The noodle texture and size was perfect for me. In addition, the filet mignon was tender when it came out, which is often not the case with some other places where its overcooked and comes out like rubber. My only complaint was that I thought their dac biet rice plate special was the traditional pork and egg and rice plate... but ended up as a combination fired rice.
