I love pho and I'm pretty picky about the broth, but this place totally nailed it! They offer a lot of options, but mostly focused on noodle soups. The prices are reasonable, and they allow you to pick between big or small sized noodles. I opted for the small rice noodles for my bowl of beef, flank, tendon, and meatball pho ($8.50). I think any additional add on is $1.00 more. My bowl of pho came out pretty quick and had a good ratio of meat to noodles. I do wish the broth was a little saltier, but that's not something that hoison and Sriracha can't fix. My mom ordered their Hu tieu mi dac biet nuoc (rice and egg noodle special with broth) and complained that there were barely any pieces of meat and that the broth wasn't as flavorful as my pho. I have been tried Bun Rieu at many different restaurants, but for some reasons those restaurants didn't make Bun Rieu like its taste. I am so happy after I tried Bun Rieu at Pho Pasteur. I was on my own for dinner with my 4 year old after a day of happy hallow. I pre-ordered the shaking beef and pho to go. By the time we got to the very busy/packed strip mall parking, I knew I had to drag my child to go in and eat there. It's a typical run down Asian food court with plastic chairs. Food was ready. The cashier was polite. Food was good! They also had all the extra bowls and utensils out so you can just grab them without much trouble. Beef was tender and good. Had the pho next day and I really enjoyed it. Only reason I'm giving 4 is I felt the portion was little small. I even paid extra for shrimp with beef and I only saw 5 or so shrimps. This is one of my favorite places to go to get pho. I have been to Lion Plaza ever since I was little, and this is all comforting to me. The store itself is quite recent compared to the other stalls in the food court which have been there for even longer than I have been born. It's family operated -- the lady (girl? woman? she's young lol) is really nice. We usually have a conversation every time and she remembers them! I usually get pho tai bo vien (basic, I know) every time. She and her husband remember me every time so the moment I say hi they have already written down my order. Pho's super good. Usually i don't eat pho during summer season but i needed some today since i have a horrible cold/flu. Due to being sick, i couldn't taste much of my #1, but what was able to make it to my taste buds was good. It was very light, no greasy feel to it, and very fresh. I ordered for pick up and my order was ready when i arrived to pick it up. I especially loved how everything was individually wrapped like the rare steak and green onions. My garnishes were also in a separate sandwich bag. Cleanliness is a must and always appreciated. Only reason i didn't give 5 stars is location. I am the pickiest pho eater out there. I'm serious I have gone years without eating pho because there's no more good pho places in San Jose. Looks like my pho problems are over though ever since I tried this place. The first time I tried it my mom bought it to go and I was skeptical to even try it because I've been disappointed so many times with mediocre pho. The smell of it being heated up hit my room upstairs and I knew it was going to be good. Fast forward to today I took my boyfriend here to try it in house. I got the ox tail and steak and he got the brisket and it was beyond amazing. The ox tail so soft and tender it melted in my mouth. The broth was on point! Fragrant, rich and yet still light and not oily. Even my boyfriend agreed that it was the best pho he's ever had. If you're ever in the area stop by and try this place it's located in the food court in lion plaza. The people working here are super nice too. My co-workers and I ate here this morning for breakfast. We've ate here many times before, so I thought it was going to be the same good thing as before. We placed our orders and played the waiting game. Everyone's meal came in with in 10 - 12 minutes or so. I had ordered a small Pho Bo Vien in other words noodles with meat ball soup. When it came time to get our food I noticed that they put my order in a large bowl, so that kind of threw me off a bit, but its okay food is food and it needs to be eaten. The second thing I noticed that the noodles in my bowl were not cooked yet. I have never had a bowl in front of my face and had to still play the waiting game before. So after about 5 minutes or so, I took a sip of the soup first because I wanted to know if anything else was wrong and I could tell straight off the bat that the soup was different from before. My boss noticed it too and explained to me that they had change the MSG they were previously using to a different kind. In the end, I had an OK experience this time. Usually they would be on point, but not today I guess. Word of advice to the cook in charge of the soup, please stop what your doing now and go back to the original recipe for your soup and almost for the person in charge of prepping the food, Please make sure that the noodles are cooked thoroughly next time. My first time ordering delivery from this place and I would have to say it was so worth it. Ordered Pho Dac Biet, Com Bo Luc Lac & Bot Chien. All 3 were great!! Love how they carefully package each item and it's not a sloppy job. Pho: Their noodles were not overcooked and sticky like many to-go places. It was easy to pull apart and even split. Recommend reheating broth and throw over all the noodles and meat instead of just throwing everything together and reheating (microwave or stove). Com: Flavorful and they even include a lime & salt/pepper mix, which I've never seen at a restaurant do before. It really was an authentic meal at home!!! The best Pho place in Sj. If you are looking for authentic Pho restaurant then this is the place for you. If you're not into Pho, they also have different kind of Vietnamese foods ( even street food like "bt chiên). I've tried their shaken beef with red rice ( bò lúc lc cm đ) and herbal drink ( nc mát). We used to come to the plaza (Call me Dragon?) for Pho Hung but now our stop is always Pho Pasteur. Its probably our favorite pho place in San Jose now. The broth is light yet flavorful. The bigger noodle is nice and soft. You can also get the small noodle if you want something firm. The meat taste tender and there is plenty of it. The veggies are fresh. There are a good variety of condiments available at counter without asking and it's free (like the onion w vinegar). Customer service is great (omg, definitely 100% better than what you would get at the banh cuon place next door- those ladies provide true Vietnamese customer service). If there's a better pandan waffle out there, I want to know about it. Was surprised it took longer than I was expecting but that might be because I may have ordered it past their business hours. Anyway, that waffle was well worth the wait, they didn't rush it even though I was the only one there and sometimes there's a temptation to cut corners when you have a customer hovering near your work station. Anyway, waffle was wonderfully crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. These guys should be teaching everyone else how to do it or rather people should be going to them to find out their secret. Best pho I ever have in America. I always go for pho tai nam duoi bo (pho with raw beef, beef brisket, and ox tail). Their broth is very authentic. This is the closest version of Pho to the ones I had in Vietnam. They use fresh noodles too (you have to request it). Highly recommend this place if you want authentic Pho. read more

Found this restaurant on Yelp. In Orange County, there is a Pho Pasteur. I found out from the owner in San Jose that they are not the same owner. This is my first time having pho in San Jose. Y'all, I'm super picky about my Pho, but this is probably some of the best Pho I've had besides mom and grandma's. The noodles are fresh made - probably made there. It's definitely not dried Pho. The noodles are super thick and have a good texture. We got three bowls of Pho Filet Mignon and a bowl of meatballs, and we split it between five people and we're all stuffed. And as suggested on yelp, I asked the flank steak rare on the side with steamed bean sprout. It was delicious. I will definitely come back here everytime I am craving for oxtail pho. To my disappointment it came out with 1 tiny piece of fish and 1 tiny piece of chicken, no shrimp, mostly just noodle and broth.
