I love pho and spoiled living in San Jose to be surrounded by a lot of good pho spots. Ordered the regular size filet mignon pho with a side of onions. I didn't realize until I saw my receipt that they do charge 4% if you use a credit card. I asked for a side of white onions and didn't get a whole lot but was given more when I asked. The soup is deep and hearty, the meat was pretty good, though I've had better at other places. A regular bowl did not have enough noodles for me and probably should've paid $2 more for a large. Overall, it was pretty good.
Hands down the top 10 soups I've ever had in my life! I got the wonton soup with flat rice noodles. The broth was so exceptionally rich and it came with a massive piece of super tender pork in it. The woman working was so kind and helpful in guiding me to the option that ended up being perfect for me. I am grateful for my incredible dining experience!
Consistent bowl of pho. And comes out piping hot!! Go with another person to split the goal of finding a table while the other orders !
When in SJ, you have to get a bowl of pho! I still havs not found a bad bowl of pho in SJ. And this spot inside the plaza is no different. Just a simple traditional bowl of pho that hits the spot. Also at this plaza, there are other Vietnamese cuisine so sure to accommodate everyone's palatte.
The last time I came to the Lion Plaza food court, I knew before I even got into my car that I was going to end up at Bo Ne Phu Yen. However, if I hadn't already decided, there's a better than decent chance I would've ended up coming to Pho Pasteur instead. It's not to say that it's the only interesting place, let alone the most interesting, but the trays of pho I saw coming out of here looked super enticing! Of course, it didn't hurt either that so many Yelp friends have given this relatively high marks! Given the obvious limitations of being a food court stall, as opposed to a full service restaurant, it makes sense that Pho Pasteur's offerings are relatively modest by comparison. There aren't any starters/small dishes, vermicelli bowls, or rice plates for the most part (you can find them at the neighboring stalls), but the menu does have a bunch of noodle soups to choose from, including beef pho with various meat combinations, Bun Rieu, Bun Bo Hue, and several types of Hu Tieu. In addition, they also have Com Bo Buc Lac, Bo Kho (with noodles or French bread), and Bot Chien Gion. That last one in particular is something I don't see very often (in SF, anyways), which makes me regret not ordering it despite my cravings for the two things I did try. -- (#7) PHO TAI, DUOI BO - Beef Pho with Slices of Rare Steak, Flank, and Brisket...$19 (Large) While this looked more impressive than it tasted, it was still great. All three cuts of beef were flavorful (the brisket was best), the noodles had a nice bite, and the broth wasn't too fatty. Also, the oxtail I added (+$5) was pretty good, but it felt like it needed to be cooked longer (the meat wouldn't release). -- (#14) COM BO LUC LAC (Shaking Beef) - Shaking Cubed Filet Mignon Steak with Red Rice, Fried Egg, and Soup...$19 In hindsight, I wish I got the Bot Chien Gion instead of this purely for its uniqueness. Not that this was bad; this was actually pretty solid. The cubes of beef were tender and I liked the red rice, but the meat felt a little light on seasoning, though the sauce it came with made up for that. As much as I've enjoyed my trips to Pho Pasteur, one thing that did surprise me the first time I came here was how the menu prices were a little higher than I would've expected for a food court eatery. I get that things are more expensive these days, but I wouldn't have guessed a large bowl of pho would be almost $20. That said, they're well worth the money, given how loaded with beef my bowl of pho was and how good it tasted, so I wouldn't say the menu here is overpriced at all. In fact, I've obviously been back already and I wouldn't be opposed to making more in the future to try more. If I lived in SJ, this place would definitely be in my rotation whenever the mood for pho strikes!
I was confirmed with the phone number, to send payment via Venmo, on their business card when calling in for an order. I got there to pick up my order she said she didn't receive the payment. It was supposed to be another phone number. It was just lost payment and I won't be coming back for anything else. Update: I got a call and apologize from the sister for not relating about the Venmo payment. I went back to pick up the order. I like it!

The sweet soy was watered down, missing a sweet tang so we used nước chấm from the other eatery we ordered from for dipping. Don't get me wrong, the bột chiên giòn was still good just not my ideal texture. S E R V I C E Very friendly owner. They give you a buzzer which worked fine outside. 5/5 for one of the best quality taste in #12, Bun Bo Hue Suon Bo beef noodle bowl. It's not the regular #11 Bun Bo Hue, but it's the better one with the big pork bone/not spicy soup. This is actually pretty darn good and authentic for food court style fast foods. Impressed. This is my first time ever ordering from them. The best Hu Tieu place across the aisle was shutdown. Pho Pasteur was empty after 1 pm Monday. No lines and no crowds. My bowl was huge! Generous portions. Condiments on front counter to the far right. Best of all, they accept credit cards now compared to cash only just few years ago. Most food stalls here accept credit cards now. Staffs were hardworking women and the lady kindly sprinkled additional black pepper onto my noodle bowl. Very welcoming and friendly with good smiles. Old uncles or janitors have been keeping the entire food court clean during pandemic years. Around $20 range, my noodle bowl quality was top notch for this type of place. Ingredients were fully packed. Soup was excellent in taste. People usually order their popular Pho noodle bowls here. They give you a buzzer/ringer when waiting for your order. I'm glad I stopped by. Not disappointing. Authentic Vietnamese cooking for sure. Red meats were tender and plentiful in my bowl. I have a very good feeling about this place. Absolutely delicious today.
Pho Pasteur is good! I don't know if it's the best pho spot in the food court, but it's a solid choice if you can't decide what you want. I ordered the Pho Dac Biet and it was real tasty. I like how it came with some tea. I'm a fan of Louis Pasteur so only makes sense that Pho Pasteur would be good too.
I've been told a number of times over the years that Pho Pasteur is the place in the East Side for pho. While I agree their pho is good -- competition in the SJ pho business is alive and well. I picked up my goddaughter from school and we decided to grab boba and pho. Since we were nearby, I suggested we check this spot out as it was a weekday afternoon which meant the plaza would not be as crowded as usual. When we walked up to the stall (located in the food court of Lyon Plaza) -- a very nice lady took our order. My goddaughter wanted specific meats in her pho and they were able to customize which was nice. I ordered the Pho Dac Biet which is essentially "the works" -- yum. The broth was savory but the noodles were a tad bit over cooked for me (I asked for the fresh noodles and my goddaughter wanted the regular thin pho noodles). There was a lot of meat in both bowls so they don't skimp for all you carnivores. I would say it's worth trying. Support local small businesses, y'all!
Still the BEST BEEF PHO IN SAN JOSE!!! I have been eating here since I rediscovered it. It's been good 3-4mos, I never missed a week. Let me tell you, THE CONSISTENCY IS JUST TOP NOTCH. Flavorful & just yummy goodness! I don't normally enjoy eating pho in the morning but not anymore. I changed! I now eat PHO for breakfast. Sooooooooo goooood!! Nothing beats a fresh hot soup'!!! The ladies in the front are so sweet. Very nice!!!
I wanted to like this place, but it fell short. Keep in mind this is food court food, and it tasted like it. We ordered the #11 and #14. The #11 was disappointing. The broth tasted extremely salty, the noodles were undercooked, and the soup lacked the rich, authentic Vietnamese flavor I expect. The #14 was better. The beef was tender, and the sauce had decent flavor, but it still didn't rise above average food court quality. Customer service didn't help the experience. The woman taking our order came across as aggressive and seemed to have an attitude, which made us feel unwelcome. Overall, this wasn't the authentic Vietnamese meal we were hoping for. The food was average at best, and the service left a lot to be desired. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again. read more
We came to Lion Plaza last Tuesday. Gavin turned 14 and I wanted to take him out to late lunch, so Tess and her boyfriend can take him to In N Out after 9PM that day. Since we were not confined to a restaurant, I was able to get my pho fix whilst Gavin ordered a rice plate. Service was great, the lady was so warm and welcoming. Prices are similar to everywhere else, and speed was phenomenal. The broth was good, clean, flavorful, and meats were tender. The herbs were crisp and fresh. I opted for regular noodles. I finished nearly 80% of the bowl... left some broth but everything was inhaled. A solid choice if you are craving pho inside Lion Plaza food court. read more

Sweetest family-owned pho restaurant. The ladies are always greeting me with a smile, and it brings me joy to see them too! Once you go into the Lion Plaza food court, they will be the first restaurant to the left. They take both cash and credit card, and will give you a buzzer to let you know when your food is ready. My favorite go-to is the Pho Tai, and the broth is so tasty and comforting. The nice cashier lady tends to ask if I want black pepper to sprinkle on top, which helps bring out the flavor even more. Bun Bo Hue and Bo Luc Lac is also available to order here. A cup of hot tea will be served with your entree order. read more
Honestly I never crave pho as much as BBH. Surprisingly as many pho restaurants out there, I find it pretty difficult to find a solid spot. San Jose probably has pho restaurants in every corner but sometimes the best spot are hidden like this one. Pho Pasteur is located in Lion Plaza's food court. The food court has a ton of more options to choose from but whenever I do crave for pho, I come here. I always get pho dac biet which comes with a little bit of everything with wide noodles. The beef broth is pretty good and wide noodles are my noodle preference, I believe they have thin noodles as well. The ladies that work there are super sweet, they would ask me "what would you like to order? everything is good!" The only issue is finding a table especially if you're going on the weekend during lunch time. 11:30am-2pm is rush hour during the weekends. I recommend bringing sanitize wipes for the tables. During rush hour you have to be on a look out to see who gets up so you could claim a table. read more

The food was amazing here. The broth was nice and salty and the noodles had a nice spring to them. They also had the thick noodles which were also amazing. The beef ball and the rare steak were also nice additions. With a bit of Sriracha and lime, the broth was just next level. Also, the service was so easy and so fast here. I got my food within 5 minutes of ordering. Definitely try! read more

My dad introduced me to this place one morning when we were looking for some morning pho at 8AM (they open at 8!), and I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Trust me, especially since the pandemic, it's been hard to find restaurants that open that early. Being from San Jose, we've been lucky to have tried tons of great, authentic Vietnamese cuisine, and this place is no exception. It's located in an unassuming small food court in the corner of a plaza with other food options, but there are tons of regulars that come eat here specifically it seems, so you know it has to be pretty good. My dad's also gotten the pho for me togo before, and they package it really well-with everything separate so nothing is cooked/soggy. I'm pretty simple and my favorite kind of pho is pho tai because the rare slices of beef are my favorite. They definitely don't skimp on the meat either. I've tried both #1 pho dac biet (basically the combination pho-rare slices steak, flank, brisket, tendon, tripe) and #5 pho tai bo vien (rare slices steak, beef meat ball). My favorite was the #5 because I get lots of steak and meat balls, but if you like the different cuts of meat in your pho I recommend #1. Oh, and you know sometimes the meatball tastes almost *too* meaty? Their meatballs are surprisingly really good. You also have the choice between thin and wide/flat noodles, but my preference for pho is thin noodles. The broth is hearty, not too salty, and authentically aromatic. On the side, you get bean sprouts, jalapenos, basil, lime, etc. Their bean sprouts are pre-boiled (super side note/personal preference), but my family prefers that so the bean sprouts don't taste too raw in the pho. $15 for a regular size (#5) My dad likes to get bun bo hue (spicy beef noodle soup and beef ribs) or #9 bun rieu (crab paste, tomato, vermicelli soup). He likes them both and as seen in my photos, it's a hearty portion size with lots of toppings. $16 for a regular size (#9) The ladies there are super friendly (even at 8 in the morning), and my dad always asks for their complimentary hot tea, which is a nice touch. You can pay with cash/card, and they give you a buzzer for you to grab your meal. Condiments (sriracha/hoisin/etc) are self serve at their counter. Overall, this is a great pho place with friendly service and yummy homemade meals. There's also outdoor seating, if you prefer that. Support your local businesses! I really enjoy coming with my dad for some morning pho here and I'll definitely be back to try more of their menu :) read more

I've been eating their pho for years. True to its name, their pho is very good. Recently, I decided to try something else on their menu, Bun Cha Ca Thia La. It's a rice noodle soup with fried fish paste and fresh dill. I love the taste! The portion comes with slices of fresh white fish, fried tasty fish paste, tomato, fried tofu and pineapple. The broth is clear but rich flavor and delicious. It quickly becomes one of my favorites beside Bun Rieu from this place when I want to something light instead of beef pho. read more
Located in a food court next to some other popular Vietnamese spots, Pho Pasteur is some A tier pho. Broth is flavorful and proteins are generous. Got the #1 and loved trying every type of protein, especially their meatballs! Highly recommend opting for the fresh noodles (thicker). Seals the deal for this spot! read more

Located inside the Lion Plaza Food Court. Customer service is super friendly! If you order to eat there, there is ample outdoor seating in the outdoor courtyard area. They give you a small cup of tea as well-- a plus! I preferred the #2 because the meat is more tender. The soup broth was also very flavorful and fragrant. Portion sizes are good and they also give you the option to choose between thin noodles and thick noodles. I like the thin noodles (what usually comes with pho) and my husband liked the texture of the thick noodles. They also put the bean sprouts for you in the soup instead of on the side. Personally, I don't like bean sprouts and usually let my husband have them all, so I picked mine out and gave them to him :P At first we thought it didn't come with them, but we found them on the bottom of our soup. If you prefer to add in your own bean sprouts or do not like them, just make sure to ask for them on the side. And they also do give you basil, lime, jalapeño slices. Another great find tucked away inside the Lion Plaza - something again I would have never found. But then one day, a food angel came into my life and shared this little shop of heaven with me. It's the first shop to your left when you walk in. Surprisingly, a pretty large selection of different soup options and a few other entrees/appetizers, and even pandan waffles! I'm all about the #1 pho dac biet (which includes rare steak, flank, brisket, tendon, and tripe). One of the first pho places that I've been to that offers the option of pho noodles or the wide noodles (12) for the regular and a dollar more for the large. When you get your order, it's always topped with so much green onions - it's like a sea of green, so I hope you love green onions. All the condiments are next to the cash register, so after you pay, make sure you get your sauce your onions. If you want to give it a shot, the #8 sound pretty bomb with the beef rib, too. Otherwise, every experience so far, I hadn't had a bad time or found hair in my food. The family that runs the shop are super sweet and starts to recognize you by the face and know your order. I would say if you think about it, it seems pretty pricey for pho, but in hinesight, the food is about average price for inside the food court. I mean, I've had worse for more and this ranks pretty high up there. Not to mention that they're essentially opened 7 days a week and they're opened early! read more

I have actually not had the phở here yet, but we love the Bột Chiên Giòn. It's great for sharing as a snack or appetizer. I will try the phở eventually, there's just so many good options in this food court! read more
This is a family favorite for delicious pho! I usually get their pho tai bo vien, which is the pho w/ steak and meatballs. Their broth is tasty and their meat isn't dry or chewy. The service is really friendly and quick. I also tried their pandan waffle, which was quite the surprise for me. Super crispy and wayy better than the ones I've had at Lion's plaza before. read more

The food was so good the pandan waffle went well with the soy milk, the daikon radish omelette was a must try and so was the Com bo luc lac. The food came out so fast and was delicious. This is in a food court. Dont expect anything fancy, but everything will taste authentic and scrumptious. Some other restaurants in the food court dont take credit cards but they do. read more
