Great fresh spring rolls (goi cuon) and quite possibly the best Pho in Houston. The owners (who are from New Orleans) are some of the sweetest and sincere people I've met. The Vietnamese beef stew (bo kho) with noodles and/or French bread is also a most-try when coming here. Pho is ok here. I ordered the Regular sized Beef Pho and the Spring Rolls. I wish the regular pho bowl was bigger. The broth was ok, not spectacular. My aunt makes the best pho, so I'm pretty particular when I eat pho at restaurants. The Spring Roll was good enough, but I have also had better. I think it's a good place to go if you are in the area and are in need of a hot bowl of pho. Service was fast. Luckily I beat the lunch crowds, because it got very busy where all the tables were filled up. The staff seemed pretty flustered, so I wonder if they are used to it being a full house. read more

This place is really good, the service is great and the pho is excellent! My wife came here for the first time in January and we have been back every Saturday since! The pho with the beef combo is so delicious, it fills you up and is affordable. The beef spring rolls are an experience! The shrimp spring rolls are on point and their banh mi is so delicious. I recommend the jasmine tea with lime juice, it is sweet and cold and cools the tongue after eating your pho. I put extra sriracha in mine along with jalapeños, so good! The owner is very friendly and it is a very relaxed environment. They also got voted Best Pho in Houston a few times by the Houston Press. You won't be disappointed! read more

BEST. PHO. EVER. Pho one has been my neighborhood local, go-to spot for awhile now. The service is so welcoming, warm, and friendly. It is a family run spot, and they are so sweet. The pho broth is flavorful, clear, and not greasy. I love the rare beef, but my partner in crime LOVES the tendon. I love the lemongrass beef spring rolls, and we always order a pork fried rice with fried eggs on it. GET THE EGGS. Runny egg yolk + fried rice = match made in heaven. Their fried rice also has sprouts in it which makes for an awesome crunchy factor, I love it. ALSO they make THE BEST Vietnamese coffee I have had anywhere in Houston. The owners daughter in law makes the best french macaroons, definitely try the pina colada, cappucinio, and vanilla! read more

...First of all...It sucks that we are forced to give at least 1 damn star. I was in Houston for work last month and I stumbled upon this Vietnamese restaurant...ironically through Yelp. Read all the wonderful reviews and some bad reviews, so I took the chance and visited this place. The pho from this restaurant is horrible (tasteless and "Where the hell is the food?"). I paid for a large bowl of noodle, but what I was given looked more like a small bowl that was poured into a larger bowl. (I am not kidding, finished the damn noodle in 4 to 5 bites. Had to eat all the bean sprouts and basil leaves to get semi full. I even drank all the soup, something that I never do, because of the high sodium count in pho soups...UGH!) I am not a food snob, but this restaurant needs a freaken food make-over. I was seriously annoyed by the bland taste, and the price ($8-9) they charged for this pho was ridiculous (maybe I'm not used to the price from Houston). You would think that for a $8 bowl of pho you would get a lot, but HELL NO...I had a small rice-bowl worth of noodle and 5 to 6 slices of meat. Speaking about the taste...I had to keep adding fish-sauce and hoisin sauce to the damn noodle soup. Had I known earlier that Houston Chinatown was 2 miles from my hotel, I would have just went there instead. (Obviously I finally visited Houston Chinatown later...BTW...the food was very good there. Forgot the name of the HUGE restaurant, though...But just keep in mind that it's in Chinatown and it's HUGE.) Was looking for Pho restaurant near my office. Saw them and stopped in for lunch alone. Sat down right in front of counter. Couple of minutes later they took my order. A bunch of people came in and they started serving them water and taking their orders; still no water for me. I waited until every customer that came in after me was served, then just got up and left. Not sure why they did not want to serve me. Was dressed in business appropriate attire. Will not return. Ive been coming to Pho One for almost 10 years and its one of my special places to come eat. The food is delicious and has that homemade taste to it. The location is clean and cozy. Not loud but comfortable. And the hospitality is just excellent. Every time I've gone they have always treated me with kindness. This isn't a fancy or hip looking place. Its warm and comfortable. They have a good menu with delicious food. I always go when I'm having a bad day and will continue to keep going for as long as it's open! read more

I came here for lunch one afternoon and was appalled at the level of customer service these men had towards a customer. This place is not very big so I was able to hear everything that was said. The owners were calling this customer names and being extremely rude to this woman. I could tell, along with everyone else, that this woman was not being foul in any way! These men just had an ego trip and have really put a bad taste in my mouth. I wouldn't dare step foot into this establishment again and you can believe I will tell coworkers, friends, and family to never visit this place. And to top it off, the food was only mediocre. There are plenty of other pho places you can eat at...steer clear of this one. I've been a regular to Pho One ever since it opened. The pho is interesting and satisfying, and you can see how much effort the cooks put into each bowl of pho: the noodles have just the right amount of snap, the broth arrives at a perfect temperature, and the herbs are extremely fresh and crisp. Also, the egg rolls and bo luc lac are definitely worth trying, but really, anything on the menu is a safe bet. read more

I've been coming here for at least 8 years with my family. The owner is super friendly and I find the food to be reasonably priced. My favorite is the BH5 meal which is beef with onions and peanuts that you wrap in rice paper yourself. I highly recommend this place and over the years it hasn't let us down read more

The food is just OK, but the service was very bad. My friend and I were having lunch on 2/16/11. After we finished our foods, we planed to stay there to chat for a few minutes since we rarely see each other. However, the waiter kept coming to the table several times for cleaning up and made us leave. I still don't understand why he was that rude since there were still several empty tables. I wrote a review of here and realized it was for the wrong place at first. I want to say this place might have been one of the worst dining experiences I have ever experienced. First off right off the bat they say beef pho but its more like a brisket and not eye of round and that is the only option for beef by itself. The broth was very light and had very little flavor. The noodles were put in the broth way to early and were already getting soggy by the time I started to eat. The Bo Luc Lac was inedible. All fatty pieces, way over cooked I could not even chew through them. When I paid and was walking out the guy at the counter thought he was funny and made a crack like see I told you you ordered to much food which I replied to him no I just couldn't digest your cooking and walked out. Had to go out somewhere else after. They are completely overpriced and there a ton of other options close by which I can guarantee without even trying are way better than here read more

I should have driven extra 3 traffic lights down to Pho Binh on Bellaire & Wilcrest instead of Pho One. The soup is average. I think it had too much MSG. I only ordered a large of bowl of pho which was $7.50 as listed on the menu. However, they charged me $8.97. I know the sales tax is 8.25%. I could not figute out how they charged $1.47 on tax. Unless they included tips without notifing the customer. Anyway, customers beware. read more

Diet pho. The regular was the smallest bowl of pho I ever had ($9). I never finish a whole bowl of pho but I polished this bowl with all the trimmings and was still hungry. Last night we went to Pho One. After it getting Houston Press's award for best Pho restaurant, I figured it had to be fabulous. Well, fabulous would be a stretch. First, their menu is very limited. The food is fresh, and it is good, but I was expecting a little more. I ordered the BH2, which is vermicelli noodles with shrimp. The shrimp were VERY small and there were 7 of them. At most restaurants, I can finish about half a meal and I am stuffed. With this one, we ate everything, with the exception of the numerous rice paper rounds they give you to fill. We had enough filling for maybe 3-4 small rolls, but they give you 8-10 papers- the one thing they are generous with! My husband had a banh mi, which was the highlight of the experience. The flavors were good- again, not spectacular, but good. On the whole, will we be back? Maybe. It is very convenient, but I will probably check out a few more of the numerous pho houses near it before thinking about returning read more
