I got the small bowl of pho brisket
    Ciara N.

Been there 2 times. The first time the broth was perfect flavor and the meat was fresh. The second time the birth was salty and the meat was old and chewy. I won't be back here. The pho broth was so salty, I had to squeeze so much lime in there to make it edible to eat. Gross. I don't know what happened bc I was here at the same restaurant a few weeks ago and the meats and broth was so good. I guess they aren't being consistent with their recipe. Or they got too many cooks in the kitchen. I would hope that they taste their broth so they know what they are serving to customers. The cashier was delightful both times we were there and he was very helpful. The food also came out pretty fast as most do in a pho restaurant. Next time I'll just drive another 10 minutes to get to china town for some real pho with perfect meat and broth.

Since I'm always on the go during the week days, I had to force myself to eat something really quick and I wanted to stay away from fast food. I'm glad I came here. Sat down right away for a party of 1. They came and took my order within 4 min, ate, and left all under 1 hr. I think it was closer to 45 min and I'm a SUPER slow eater. The broth here was really good! I wasn't expecting it because I was so worried about time. The second that broth hit my lips, I knew I made the right choice for lunch. I've never been to this location before but I'm definitely coming here again. If you need a quick bite to eat, nothing is quicker than pho. That's pho sure.

Lots of fresh veggies - cilantro, basil, limes, bean sprouts, jalapeños

My husband and I were visiting from California and we were looking for a pho spot to try out. Pho Binh 59 South did not disappoint! We both went for the #1 Pho dac biet (1 regular and 1 large). Not only was the broth very comforting and a nice blend of savory and a little sweet with nice aromatics but we were both impressed that they served the pho with cilantro in addition to basil (this isn't common in pho places in SF, SJ or Oakland or even OC) and the server asked us if we wanted our bean sprouts fresh or blanched. They served a ton of jalapeños as well which we love. Maybe they just give more veggies in Texas! The meat was plentiful and my favorite were the slices of brisket. For drinks I got tea and I was impressed they had several options for tea - black, green, or ginger. I got the ginger tea. We both finished our pho and I was super happy with this choice. It's a lot better than options in SF or Oakland and I was happy to give it a try. There's plenty of open tables inside and remember to pay up at the cashier after your done eating. Service was very friendly as well. The inside was clean and bright.

My wife loved her Angel Island combo smoothy, peach, mango and strawberry. I really enjoyed my iced Viet coffee with condensed milk. Wifey had the regular sized chicken noodle soup....I helped and we still couldn't finish all of it, very good. I usually try the grilled pork banh mi with a fried egg on my first visit to a "new for us" place......very tasty. We also shared some fried chicken dumplings...some of the best we've ever had.....we'll be back for more goodies. They have a bunch of locations so you should be able to find one near you.

The best chicken pho I've tasted in my Life. And I've had many. I always get the medium mixed white and dark meat chicken Pho with extra dark meat on the side. Yummmmm & their smoothies are so tasty and can be customized even made with Splenda. Great place for pho and vermicelli. I ate the pork spring roll tht came with it on the pic I attached. Delicious

Beef Bahn Mi , Egg roll

Ordered take out, fast and easy pick up! Not going to lie, i will not return here for a bahn mi, or egg rolls. Bahn mi bread was so hard and stale i could barley bite into it. Egg rolls small and taste like they were in the refrigerator and refried... Maybe they have better things in their menu.

Honeydew smoothie with cantaloupe added. It was heavenly

This place has it all. Good pho and Vietnamese plates as well as just about every type of fruit smoothie you could imagine. I had the chicken pho and my sister had the tofu rice plate. We also got a honeydew and cantaloupe smoothie which was heavenly and the tropical fruit smoothie which was good as well. I enjoyed everything we ordered here and will be back again!

PURCHASED · Banh Mi Dac Biet (i.e., the most common banh mi, which includes most ingredients--It translates to "special" banh mi." COSTS · ~$5 (I could be wrong) POSITIVE · Nothing beats some authentic banh mi in Houston, Texas. (I live in NYC so it's difficult to find good Vietnamese food.) · There's a hot lady working the cash register. I exchanged a bit with her while checking out. NEGATIVE · Nothing. IMPRESSION · Great spot I miss Houston Vietnamese food :(

Ive been here a couple of times and have had great food and service. Today I dined in but wound up being in quite a hurry. The young woman who helped me took my order quickly and provided me with exactly what I needed. My food was delivered quickly to my table and at the correct temperatures. My spring rolls were not served with peanut sauce as I had ordered and I always appreciate that. They were crisp, fresh, and cold plus nicely and tightly wrapped... exactly how I love them. My pho ga was served piping hot and without white onion as I asked also. I wound up taking most of my soup to go and containers were brought out to me as well as a to go iced tea refill. A woman who I assumed to be one of the owners let me know the kitchen was closing and out of chicken broth when I asked about ordering extra to take home but she offered me the beef broth in which I accepted. She came out and nicely packaged everything up for me and reminded me not to forget my tea. So sweet. Will always be back when I'm in this part of town. Thank you!

Tofu us a must ! The spring rolls are very good along with the peanut sauce. There Taro smoothie that one was a bit different but good as well.

It been a Houston institution since 1999. Walking into K&G's can be quite overwhelming on the first visit. Anything you could possibly want is listed on the menu. I recommend looking t it online before coming, just so you can have an idea of what you might want to eat. My dad(96) and I are frequent visitors and we always seem to get the open faced roast beef, which is stacked high and there is always left overs for eating at home the next day. The pickles are a fan favorite for me, and I tend to devour several of them. This visit I decided to try the fried fish sandwich (made with halibut) with onion rings and french fries and my friend, a Houston native who had never been here, went for the Schleppy Joe with onion rings. These sandwiches were stunning and wonderful. I saved half for to go so I could have their classic New York Cheesecake... the best in the city. The entire dining experience was top notch, exactly the experience I always have. Ziggy knows how to make the customers dining experience an "experience", I have never had a bad one, from the service down to the cleanliness of the entire place. My niece wanted the chocolatey-est dessert on the menu so our awesome waiter (a very personable and kind guy) recommended a multi-layered chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and we decided to have it a la mode. He asked if we wanted it hot or warm. We ordered it warm and in hindsight we wish we'd ordered it hot but it was still perfect for a chocolate fix. He even brought out a candle for the cake when he found out her birthday was coming up the following week. I also ordered a cheesecake and we shared each other's desserts. Needless to say we had plenty to take home and we thoroughly enjoyed it the following day as well and at a hotter temperature that was perfect with soft serve ice cream.

Not many restaurants in Houston offer Takowasa, which is marinated raw octopus with wasabi; and when we find one that does, it's our must order for appetizers. We also ordered the chicken karaage and agedashi tofu. The karaage was juicy and slightly larger than the size of popcorn chicken. The tofu was soft and lightly battered, however the downside is that it gets soggy quickly since it's sitting in the sauce rather than on the side. For our entrees, we got the carbonara, curry tonkatsu rice, niku tama ankake, and kakuni udon. The carbonara was nice and creamy. The curry rice tastes exactly like the Japanese box curry. The niku tama is more of a thicker soup base similar to egg drop soup, however has a more slightly sweet umami flavor. The kakuni udon had a lighter broth with braised pork belly. The service was a bit slow here, but we didn't mind it too much. The interior had a cute traditional Japanese style decor. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and we'll be back to try other udons.
