On my third attempt (first two, credit card machine not working and I almost never carry cash) was able to give Pho Ok a whirl. Family owned location, that is still trying to get it's legs under it. Somewhat clunky/awkward table service (albeit polite) with what I believe to be owner. Pho was OK; broth immature and light, as it seems like the place needs to develop its rhythm before I would consider it running on all cylinders. First time tried Bun Bo Hue. I would say it is similar to Pho, but reacher in all verity of flavors. The owner was nice, explaining how to eat it right, so can experience it right. :) $8 for huge bowl with all kind of meats in there. Not sure how he makes a profit. :) read more

This place offers decent pho with fresh ingredients. Stopped by on a Friday night, surprised to find that I was the only 2 customers for the night. I got a large bowl and was served immediately. They did offer generous amounts of beef slices and the broth was not salty at all. Bonus point: free lemon black tea! The server said that they planned to roll out new drinks so I was fortunate enough to claim a free one. They put basil in the drink so it tasted a bit different from what I've got so far. This is a nice place that can fix your pho craving. My only concern would be it goes out of business soon, since it doesn't seem to attract a lot of diners. As this was only my second time having pho, I do not have a lot of experience with what is good or not. I can tell you that here, I was greeted warmly by a man whom I suspect is the owner. I ordered the shrimp spring rolls and the chicken noodle pho. The rolls were excellent and I would go back for more. The pho was ok but the chicken was a little dry. This is my favorite pho restaurant in the area. The pho is excellent and there always seems to be enough of everything (meat, noodles, veggies, garnishes, ect. ). The price is excellent and the place is ran by a Vietnamese family that simply knows how to cook their own food. The family is so sweet and I always feel at home there. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time should you decide to be a patron here. We waited 45 minutes before our food arrived. I'm sure it would have tasted delightful, however their menu will not state cilantro as part of the meal and they do include copious amounts on their pha. When my meal finally did arrive after the 45 minutes wait time I explained that I can not eat said cilantro and they did express their sympathy but did not make any efforts to remedy the situation. I would not recommend this experience to anyone with less than a two hour lunch break and a deep love for cilantro. read more

This is probably my favorite pho restaurant in the North Dallas/Richardson area. Even though it's "Pho Ok!" it's much more thank just "ok"! The broth was very flavorful...and this is my preference when it comes to pho. The noodle to broth ratio was perfect. I hate it when restaurants skimp out on the noodles. Just as the title says, "Ok!". It's cold outside and what better way than to warm up with a bowl of Pho, right? So instead of going to my usual haunt, I gave Pho Ok! a try. As previously reported, I entered and was sort of standing there like an odd man out. Finally after a few minutes, someone ushered me to a table and gave me a menu. It took a good 10 minutes before anyone noticed I was ready to order. When you're on your lunch break, every minute counts, just saying. I ordered the Gui Con (spring rolls) and the combination Pho (has sliced brisket, meatballs and sliced tenderloin). The broth in itself was clear, which was promising - and it stops there. So it may be that I arrived on an "off" day but the broth tasted a watered down. Yes, it was cold on the day I visited, so it may be they were not expecting many to come in for lunch and had to stretch the soup just in case. There was no richness to the broth - just clear ordinary watered down beef broth. No flavor whatsoever. Additionally, I ordered the gui con as an appetizer but it came out with my soup. A spring roll should be rolled tightly. Presentation good, but you could immediately tell that once you bit into your roll, it will fall apart, and that it did. It wasn't rolled tight enough that it only took one bite until it fell into pieces. Not a great experience but I'm willing to give it another try - perhaps it was that I came there on a bad day. read more
