This spot is close by to my neighborhood and this is my go-to spot! There is a walk-up counter where you order with the server and there are plenty of seating in the restaurant. The restaurant is clean and the people who work there are super nice. I like to order their veggie pho with beef broth and sometimes I'll get a shrimp fresh spring roll or their grilled shrimp vermicelli bowl. In this particular visit, though, I got their veggie pho with beef broth. Their veggies are fresh and cut proportionately and they give you a good amount of noodles. I love that they have crispy tofu here with their veggie pho, because I know that some places have soft tofu (it's difficult to pick up with chopsticks) and they give you a good amount of basil and bean sprouts as well as jalapenos! :) Their pho is reasonably priced - they offer a medium as well as large. They do not disappoint at all :) Pho is my comfort food and I am so glad that they're close by!
Excellent Pho spot in the Excelsior district. Ordered a large #4, meat quality was a little tough but manageable. Broth was savory and flavorful. Restaurant offers unlimited self serve iced tea and water. Restaurant was very clean, service was quick and friendly. Now that winter is coming, I'd like to stop by to try other noodle dishes.

Our weekend was over from nights at the cow palace and we wanted something comforting like pho and broth. I looked up yelp and this resturant was on the way from leaving the City. There is street parking and be patience it took us a few blocks to find parking. Upon walking in the resturant it was order first then seated. The menus were pretty simple for Vietnamese cuisine. We got our food quickly and the pho broth hit the spot!!! It was so comforting to have the flavor in my belly!!!! Of course the large was HUGE. I did not put a dent in my bowl. The fresh fried egg rolls were super good and crispy. The apple juice hit just right after the savory flavors of the pho. I'm glad I was able to stop by and try out the pho.

Cashier greeted us as we walked in, was courteous and even repeated our order to make sure he heard correctly. We ordered a #20 and a #12 (no pho and extra veggies-no extra charge). We did not have to wait long to enjoy the delicious items we selected. The pork chop was juicy (although we prefer it with a touch more seasoning) egg roll was crispy, and the veggies in my soup were abundant with lots of variety. It had carrots, zucchini, mushrooms, white and green onions and beansprouts. Broth was delicious. Dining room was spacious and clean, bathrooms were clean and had seat covers. Was a pleasant experience. Our bellies were jolly. We recommend and will be back.
Love pho nation. My personal favorite. Only complaint is I wish they were open later. I usually dine in, good service and complimentary tea. Good vibes.

COVID protocols are still in effect but they don't require masks. I didn't realize the hour when we walked in; they were about to close. They offered to serve us for take-out. The ladies were polite and efficient and packed up all our food with care including two Thai iced teas. The chicken wings were dry. They told me the egg rolls were Imperial rolls (so I asked for extra lettuce, mint and nuac cham) but they were not: They were average egg rolls with packets of sweet & sour sauce on the side. The pho was accompanied by packets of hoisin, sriracha, sliced jalapeños and bean sprouts. My advice is order the pho and skip the appetizers until they bring them up to standard.
It pains me to write a bad review, but after getting sick to my stomach once and bad service the next time I'm done. This place just isn't worth the price or hype. Recently I went in for lunch and ordered the same rare steak with beef meat Ball that I always order. Instead of rare steak, I got overcooked meat that was hard. I brought it to my waitress' attention and she apologized, as they stated it was rare when they put it in. It was very poor quality and very overcooked. I told her that I was not happy with my order and she went to speak to the manager who then said, if I wanted rare steak I needed to pay extra. I told her that I was very unhappy with that, because I did not receive rare steak in the first place and that it was not edible. So when the manager came by, I spoke with her and she said they never serve it rare like that. I disagreed, as I have ordered it like that from THIS place before. She basically argued that all restaurants serve rare beef cooked and had to disagree again, as this is the dish I always ordered. The manager was very dismissive and rude, I kept my composure - but didn't want to be there anymore. If you don't care to hear from your customers and don't care about their business - you lose it. I hate spending nearly $20 with tip on food that is wasted, but it was not good. But ultimately the reason I will not return again is the way I was treated when I brought it up my concerns.

Solid pho. Broth seemed a bit saltier than normal. Service was quick- I ordered at the walk-up window and then sat myself and I had my bowl in front of me in under a few minutes. (Although the restaurant was also mostly empty. Arrived around 50 minutes before they closed.) Bonus: there's free tea! Both iced and hot. read more

Pho Nation might actually have the best pho in the city no kap on the stack. Ordered the #2 large while violently hungover and this bowl spiritually resurrected me back into society. Broth was rich, beef was tender, noodles were perfect, and the portion size had me feeling like I just ascended into heaven mid-slurp. Even crazier part? Total came out to only $23.68 INCLUDING a 15% tip. In this economy that honestly feels illegal. Affordable, comforting, and insanely satisfying. If you need elite hangover recovery food or just want genuinely fire pho, this is the spot. Plus - free self served iced-tea and water station. Highly recommend with my utmost respectful regards. read more

Solid spot and feels like fast casual dining. Limited menu, but tasty. The menu has the popular pho noodles soup options, rice plates and vermicelli bowls. You pay first at the register and then they will remember you and where you sat. Your order will be brought to you. Water and tea are self serve for no additional cost. read more

This is my go-to takeout spot for pho. I always get a large plain pho with egg noodles and 2 sides of shrimp. You get 3 pieces of shrimp for $4. The shrimp are a pretty decent size but 3 aren't enough for me which is why I get 2 side orders. I've never dined in, only ordered through uber eats, and my order is normally around $22 and some change before uber adds all of their taxes. The broth is so rich and incredibly seasoned to perfection. It's just the right amount of salty and is always delivered to me piping hot. The shrimp does arrive with the shell on so I take those off, and add the thai basil and a squeeze of lemon to my bowl. I don't like rice noodles so I am happy that Pho Nation offers to substitute them for egg noodles. I always have left over broth for the next day. Pho ga. I would say it's about five times better when you dine in then when you get the pho delivered. I'm pretty much only speaking about the chicken pho which I've eaten all over Westminster and Los Angeles, and I would say that it is really good and plentiful meat. very different style than turtle tower which was just a free range style chicken (mixed breed between Chinese and American Cornish cross) with fish sauce and shitload of green onions and cilantro. This one has a lot of fried shallots flavor. I personally really enjoyed this one. I've had about 10 times the delivery needs improvement because these type of noodles just don't travel very well. read more

I ordered the combo rice plate off DoorDash and it came with chicken, pork, and shrimp over rice, along with a side salad. The portion was quite large - lots of protein! The meat wasn't too bad but some of it was a little hard. The rice was pretty flavorful though. read more

Pho nation has become my Regular spot for Vietnamese delivery. Their grilled pork chop is my favourite thing here and is a step above most places. Pho here is also pretty good but it doesn't deliver well so I tend to stick with the rice dishes. The food comes out quickly and the food is tasty at a decent price. Not more that I can ask for for a takeout/delivery spot. read more
Under a Pho Nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all, I may be viewed as a pho insurrectionist since out of my two drop-by's here, I didn't order their pho. I believe a firing squad would be the next step in a less tolerable nation. However, it was the allure of the $13.45 Steamed Chicken and Salad Rice Plate that trumped the pho both times. It was a hefty portion by any standard with chopped pieces of bone-in steamed chicken placed on top of a bed of white rice and accompanied by iceberg lettuce. It came with a couple of dipping sauces, the expected ginger garlic and also a spicy chili (photo: https://bit.ly/3B4koWA). It came with a cup of broth ready to heat up. It certainly hit the spot after traipsing on the Philosopher's Walk at nearby John McLaren Park. Of course, I felt that extra bit of exercise entitled me to a $7.25 order of Fresh Shrimp Spring Rolls which was tightly packed and accompanied by the requisite peanut dipping sauce (photo: https://bit.ly/3kidVjZ). All good stuff, and it all verified my citizenship in the Pho Nation. I could show you my passport if you like. FOOD - 4 stars...steamed chicken that made me ask "What pho?" Yay! We were pleasantly surprised by Pho Nation. We've tried our fair share of meh Vietnamese restaurants in the city and bland pho so I'm happy to report that Pho Nation wasn't one of them. They lived up to their 4.5 stars. Thank you Yelp for not leading us astray! Okay, I can't say it was the BEST pho I've ever had (ahem Pho Huynh Hiep aka Kevin's Noodle House in the Inner Sunset) but the broth was flavorful and hit the spot on a cold SF evening. You can't ever go wrong with spring rolls with peanut sauce. In spite of the spring roll wrapper falling apart, the rolls tasted good. I was especially surprised to see four giant egg rolls in my vermicelli bowl. I loved the freshness of the salad and the egg rolls were super filling. During Covid times there's nothing I like seeing better than a completely empty restaurant and that was just our luck on a random weekday evening. I felt safe eating in since the restaurant is fairly spacious which allowed for customers to sit far apart. There is no outdoor dining. Our food came out super fast and service was nothing to complain about. We will definitely be back! read more

I haven't been in this area for at least a decade and surprisingly it has not changed much at all. There's about 5-6 blocks of restaurants and shops along San Bruno Avenue. Most parking is metered and can be tricky to get. The streets are somewhat dirty and most stores look like they've been here for decades. Pho Nation is a new restaurant -- quite spacious and clean inside. It's unfortunate they can't open for dine-in services due to COVID restrictions and the streets are too narrow for outdoor seating. I wondered if takeout pho would even be any good but in support of new businesses in different areas, we decided to give this place a try. Ordered: #1 pho nation combo $11.95 -Beef, flank, brisket, tripe, beef balls #13 house special Vermicelli $14.95 -Grilled chicken, pork, shrimp #20 combo rice place $14.95 -Chicken wings, egg roll, porkchop Service was friendly. Presentation was beautiful. Ordering was easy. Food was ready quick. We took our food to the nearby neighborhood park. There was a good amount of food and most of it was tasty but I thought the price point was too high. I have a neighborhood Vietnamese place in Daly City that sells pho, combo rice and noodle plates for about $4 less than what is being charged here. The taste wasn't amazing enough for me to wanna pay more. Maybe they have to mark the prices higher in order to make any profit. I wish this place luck and hope they survive COVID. read more

COVID-19 DELIVERY Tell/ask 5 random people in SF: "I live in Portola, what neighborhood do you live at?" You'll receive either: (A) A BLANK STARE (B) "Ohhh, West Portal is a really nice area!" (totally different area) (C) That pick-up line is weak but "Heeeeeyyyyy!" *WINK WINK* (D) They'll totally ignore you and/or run away from you. You know, cuz SF is cray. I grew up in Portola, a little known working-class neighborhood that's changed very little over the years (read: not gentrified). While there's a good selection of AZN eats, most are middle-of-the-road. When I saw that Pho Nation opened right next door to the SFFD, I didn't think too much of it because this location has been a revolving door of mediocre Vietnamese restaurants since I was a kid. At one point, there were two signs with two different Vietnamese restaurant names posted! I later did a Yelp search and saw their original location in Newark has 4.5 stars on Yelp. Very promising so I decided to give it a try. Plus, we all have to do our part of supporting small mom and pop businesses especially ones with no social media presence AND brave enough to open in the midst of a pandemic! Currently, Pho Nation is open for takeout and delivery (GrubHub, DoorDash, and UberEats). The menu is small (2 pages) which is a good sign. They serve Phở ($11.95 - $14.95), Bún: vermicelli bowl ($11.95-$14.95), and Com Dĩa: rice plates ($11.95 - $14.95). Small menu with standard offerings but that's usually a good sign. Prices are about $1 more on 3rd party delivery platforms. I ordered on UberEats and my order was delivered in less than 30 minutes. Food was hot and packaged very well. Soup was securely and separately wrapped up. Utensils were completely wrapped - thank you! With COVID, exposed utensils are such a pet peeve of mine. F O O D * Com Đặc Biệt #2: Pork chop, chicken wings, egg roll, salad, soup (UberEats - $15.95) --Pork Chop: Large, nicely charred pork chop. Relatively tender but rather salty. --Chicken Wing: Standard, it was still a touch crispy despite delivery. Since it's not seasoned, use the nuớc chấm for dipping. Yelp pic and menu shows two chicken wings but I only received one. --Egg Roll: Thick and meaty with a pork, taro, wood ear mushrooms, and vermicelli filling. --Rice: Regular rice (not broken rice). Huge portion and cooked well. --Salad: Fresh lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, shredded carrots and daikon. --Soup: Very salty and msg-y. Overall, Pho Nation is a nice addition to Portola and an improvement over its predecessors. If you live/work in the hood, please support this new small business! read more
**delivery review** I've ordered from here a few times from Uber eats and doordash and have been so impressed with the quality every time!! Pho sometimes isn't the best when you get it to-go, but here the noodles somehow taste exactly as when you're dining in and the soup is so hearty and delicious. They give you a lot of meats and noodles as well. I've also ordered their chicken wings and egg rolls and they were so good as well. The egg rolls were fat and had big chunks of filling. They package the food really well too and makes it super easy to eat. Honestly think it's one of the best pho I've had in the Bay Area. I've been pretty disappointed with a lot of other spots I've ordered delivery from before, but I think I've found my go-to spot for pho delivery. read more

Ordered a rare beef noodle soup and ended up beef was 110% well done! Veggies in the Vegan bowl seem dried up. But I gotta give this restaurant some credit on its cleanliness and staffs politeness. read more

Every time I see a pho place, I have to pull over and try it. Pho Nation has nice decor and operates on an order-and-pay-first system, with self-service water. Unfortunately, the broth lacked full flavor and was way too salty. The noodles were not al dente but mushy, like rice cake. The meat quality was decent, but overall, the pho was mediocre to just okay. To be fair, I only tried the Pho Nation Combo #1, so this review is based solely on that dish. read more
