I've been going here for as long as I remember with my family. My grandma, aunt, and dad refuse to eat anywhere else for pho in the SGV-- they say it's better than the pho back in Vietnam. Wanted to eat something quick with my boyfriend for lunch the other day, and saw a few reviews from Yelp friends about Pho Huynh, so decided to drop by. There's a small parking lot behind the restaurant, and street parking if there aren't any spaces. Lots of tables, but since they serve the bowls of pho so quickly, people pretty much come and go. My boyfriend ordered the filet mignon (#1) and I ordered #2. He added extra beef balls, which were served on the side a few minutes after our pho came out - which was super fast! I thought the broth was pretty tasty, but I'm not a pho fan so as long as there is flavor, I'm good. I thought that all the pho specials came with the flat noodles (which is why I picked this place), but mine came with the regular vermicelli, while my boyfriend's had the flat noodle! That was disappointing. #2 had lots of meat and LOTS of noodles. Meat wise, I had tripe, flank, even some beef balls in my soup. The meat was tasty and added to the flavor of the broth. I was really full after eating my bowl. #1 seemed to contain more noodles than meat, and my boyfriend also mentioned that the broth wasn't as tasty as Pho Pasteur. I think our taste palates differ by a lot haha. They serve the typical beansprouts, chili, mint and lime on the side. I also got an iced coffee for my dad, which he said he liked. $7.00 PHO??? But I got a Free Hat! I came here after the ravings of my buddies and broke my own rule of not eating Vietnamese outside of Bolsa. Dac Biet Pho Bac-Menu Item#1-(3+ Stars) I was surprised when the waiter brought our food in a steel-type bowl.This was Nice! The first thing I tasted was just the broth. The broth was ok. After I added the siracha/hoison sauce it was pretty yummy. The noodles were ok. The meat was surprisingly good. Much better than I had expected. The meat, in my opinion, was what made this particular pho so tasty. Ambiance/Service This place is comfortable. It is upscale compared to the places I usually eat. My friend said this place has the most authentic flavored pho in the area. We've been to the Valley Blvd pho shops. She suggested it, I replied "pho sure"! Apparently the pho is northern style. The broth had bits of julienne ginger, was not oily, had a clean taste, and was served piping hot. Noodles were wide and thin (I like them better) and perfect for slurping. Personally I'm not that much into meat. For me its all about the broth and noodles. One of my friend who's a so called pho expert told me to check this place out. Since i was feeling a little under the weather, I took his advice and headed over. I ended up getting the #1 combo with the filet mignon and... (I'm no pho expert) but it was pretty tasty. They even serve the pho in metal bowls. How fancy is that? On a side note, they add ginger to your pho, tasty for some but an annoyance for others. Just make sure you let them know if you don't want it so they can leave it out when making your pho. Was visiting my grandparents and got hungry so we went to this place since our go to pho place closed down. Upon walking in the very first thing I noticed was how big the restaurant is. The restaurant is clean, but the little containers that you put your sauces in were kind of sticky and dusty didn't seem like from being dirty but more like it hasn't been used in a while maybe? Regardless I didn't use it. Order a small PHO GA (chicken) and instead of getting the normal noodles that come with pho I opted to try the slightly bigger noddles because they're made fresh in house. The broth itself is pretty flavorful but I still need to add some hoisin sauce and hot sauce to give it the right combination. I appreciated that they give you a lot of veggies that were all fresh. Normally pho Ga comes with ginger fish sauce, and this place did give it to you but you have to ask for it and the amount they give you is tiny. The ginger fish sauce is lighter in flavor than I'm used to. Service- is just OKAY. They came to take our order and then dropped off our Pho when it was ready, but besides that we never saw them again. Our waters were never refilled. We were never checked on... I don't even think I got my extra napkin I requested. Parking-is absolutely horrible they have a teeny tiny lot in the back and street parking but with all the surrounding businesses the parking is normally taken my advice is to come before or after rush-hour. If and when I am in the area I guess I wouldn't mind stopping back in here for a bowl of pho or to try any of their other items but I wouldn't go out my way just to eat here. read more

Hits the spot when I am in need of pho! My bf actually took me to this restaurant a couple of times since it's close by and I thought it was time to write a review! Really like how open the seating is, not super busy, but still a good amount of customers. The staff is super nice and the service is pretty standard, but at least they're efficient! Every condiment and utensil is at the comfort of your table. If you drop your chopsticks there's a million more and you don't have to wait for someone to hand you a new pair! The food comes out pretty fast too, so again the wait is minimal (at most 10-15 minutes but your pho or meal comes out steaming hot). My usuals are the pho tai or the filet mignon pho! Highly recommend the filet mignon one and it's about $1-$2 more anyway (price ranges from $7.50 ish -$9 and stated on the menu). Slices of beef are super tender and the noodles are my favorite part. This is my favorite pho place in the SGV. Parking is in the back but there is usually plenty of street parking. It can be crowded but the wait is usually short. I usually order the Dac Biet (special), which is a fairly good-sized meal. The Pho Tai with Bo Vien (rare beef with meatballs) is also good. The broth is clear and flavorful without being overly salty. Like almost all Vietnamese restaurants, MSG is a staple, so you really can't avoid it. The numbing on my lips after the meal is at least minimal here. I also find the noodles to be cooked just right here. It's not over cooked (mushy) and has some texture. The beef is fresh and not a big glob of fat you get elsewhere. Service is quick and the staff is pretty friendly for a Vietnamese joint. I only get #1. The plum sauce is awesome when you dip the beef. This soup is not oily at all. It tastes like beef broth with a hidden flavor embedded. Big plus on my side, I like drinking the soup. Maybe I haven't explored enough in El Monte, but this is one of the only spot that offers oxtail pho. They advertise "authentic" Vietnamese pho and it seems fitting because they focus on only serving pho and also some appetizers. The soup base taste well made, flavorful, and it is clear, meaning they sifted all the blood/debris floating during the bone boiling process, giving the broth a clean look. I've tried their pho dac viet- steak, flank, tendons, beefball- and the oxtail. The oxtail wasn't fall off the bone, and it wasn't tough either, but I kinda like it that way, so you get to gnaw some of it off the bone. My only complain is that they give u 4-5 pieces. One more piece would've been more satisfying. Their egg rolls are also a hit. Coming here for lunch with co-workers for the 3rd time-- They do say 3rd time is a charm.. NOT! We got the pho which was not OK.. the water tasted just like salt water no taste but salt. We also got the shaken beef with rice. Beef was not cook well. We also learned they dont have soy sauce ready to pour. We asked for soy sauce and got 1 packet!!! literally 1.. -- the hell ?!?!?
