YES LORD!!! Jesus himself made the broth at this place! I am a PHONATIC and this is the best and most authentic Pho in Houston that ive had so far. The prices are very affordable, unlike some places who jack the prices up for noodles and soup. I had a... Small bowl of Pho with : beef balls, tripe, tendon and rare flank, all for $6/7. The broth again was the absolute best! This the first Pho ive had where I didn't add any Hoisin sauce or sriraccha (that's how good the pho is alone). The service was great, we were greeted and seated within 30 seconds of walking in. The staff was polite and nice and answered any questions we had. The place is SO CLEAN which I really liked. The door to the kitchen was open and the KITCHEN WAS SPOTLESS, which I love seeing clean kitchens so I know my food is clean lol!. Anyhow I cant wait to come back, I just wish they were open later than 7pm. read more

I used to come here a lot when I used to live in the area as a kid. Not sure if they changed owners between now and then but the place looks the same. The restaurant was very clean and seating was no problem. They lose a star for service because the lady helping us was rather cold, non emotional and just straight up rude. Instead of taking our drink orders and letting my wife and I explore the menu she just stood there waiting the entire time. Luckily the food ended up being good. The dry noodles I ordered were excellent and my wife was impressed with the pho. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. read more

Pho Danh - The spelling is diff? - Vietnamese Near Me - Houston, Texas

Available for dine-in They now have filet instead of round eye for tai (round eye). Good place. But portions. Would eat again.

Location (5/5): The restaurant locates in a plaza with lots of parking. Services (4/5): Typical Vietnamese service. They come to get your orders, answers basic questions then order your food. Food (5/5): I was introduced by a local to come here for Pho Ve Don, so I tried it! It was pretty good! First time eating Pho Ve Don although many pho restaurants offer it. My friend told me that this family has a special recipe for this Ve Don. That's why their Ve Don is so tender ALL THE TIME! They make such good money, they sometimes close the entire pho restaurant during summer so their entire family can take a family vaca to Vietnam! #lifegoals read more

Let's make this one short and sweet: My parents were born in Vietnam, I was born in Vietnam, and I have eaten delicious, as-authentic-as-you-can-get Vietnamese food my entire life. This place, hidden inside of Hong Kong City Mall, is the. bomb. dot. com. BEST BOWL OF PHO TAI I'VE EVER HAD...thus far. I'm down for taking competitors. read more

Pho Danh is one of the top three Pho shops in Houston. It is my preferred West Houston Pho Phix....bright, clean, pleasant enough staff and a myriad of Pho and Bo Bun Hue to make anyone happy. Delicious and complex broth, excellent snap to the noodles and an herb plate that usually looks so fresh you think they just picked it. Excellent for breakfast and throughout the day; on the weekends, if you get there after 9 AM, prepare to stand in line. I love being the only non-Asian in the place early in the morning. It is an excellent reward to a nice walk around the reservoir at Bellaire and Beltway 8. Good Cafe Sua Da also. read more

No one should eat here.. The employee spilled a tray of 8+ drinks on me and my purse on the inside and out. I got upset and when I went to pay, the cashier was saying inappropriate things about me to other employees in vietnamese like I couldn't understand. It was extremely rude. When I argued that it was not right and we shouldn't have to pay, she just kept talking in vietnamese and joking about it to other employees while I was standing there, apologizing insincerely.. They damaged my designer handbag and did nothing to accommodate the inconvenience they caused me by spilling drinks all over me and my purse.. Like really, how incompetent are your employees that you look the other way and proceed to talk badly of your customers in vietnamese when you are obviously too ignorant to see that they can understand what you're saying? It was just extremely terrible service and it really shows that the business does not care whatsoever about their customers. read more

Is a good bowl of pho worth circling a parking lot for 10 minutes? At Pho Danh, it is. At 20 minutes, that might be pushing it. :) I rarely trek over to HK City Mall simply because I HATE having to find parking. But, my bf's hairdresser (Pierre at Tony & Friends) and several friends have raved about Pho Danh, aka "not sure of the exact name, but walk the complete opposite direction of the food court, and it'll be in the way back on your left hand side." Sure enough, I was able to find the place...and it wasn't hard to spot, as the place was still packed even on a Saturday afternoon at 1:45 pm. The broth was fresh, flavorful, and not too fatty. The noodles were even slightly al dente - mad props! The portions of meat were pretty generous as well. I should have ordered the large instead of the small, I wanted MORE afterwards! Don't know why other reviewers have said cash only, because I for sure paid with a credit card. :) read more

Excellent Pho place in the awful and horrendous Hong Kong City Mall. I went here on the advice of Tom W and yes the place is good but dont even THINK of coming here at lunchtime on Sunday. Totally impossible to get a parking spot, and the drive around the nightmarish lot is a scary and harrowing experience. After 15 minutes of driving around this urban nightmare, I was ready for a bottle of Jack Daniels, not the beef Pho.... and actually I gave up and went to Pho Ngon on Sunday as I couldnt deal with another spin around the parking lot. Their Pho (on Monday) was good, but the broth not so rich. Best and most tender brisket I've had though, and the place and bathrooms were clean. I deducted one star due to them not having spring rolls on the menu... whats up with that?.. and another star was deducted for the ridiculous parking siutuation.. read more

My friends rave about Pho Danh, and the lines for this place is always long. I don't really understand why.. I wouldn't say that the Pho here is the best, but it's definitely not the worst either. I've grown up with Pho, and to me this place is just average. There's no appetizers on the menu, and since there's so much business, the menu is very straight to the point. When we went the last time, the service was just average as well. If you're content with waiting in the long lines (that move fairly quickly) then give it a shot, if you'd rather be doing other stuff then give another restaurant in the HK4 area a try. Either way, it's all okay! read more

This place, tucked at the back of the Hong Kong 4 Supermarket never fails me. I've been coming here for years and always happy with the pho. They only serve pho but the broth is so flavorful and delicious and feels like they give you a decent amount of meat. I feel bad that it's starting to have to compete with so many other popular pho restaurants in Bellaire. Good for patrons since often there's no to little wait. Sure it's a little divey, but great if you need a pho fix and fast! read more

H-town Pho! Houstonian Chi N. took my friends and me to Pho Danh to try some authentic H-town Vietnamese food. She busted out the Vietnamese and ordered our group pho's that weren't even listed on the menu (that's when you know you're in for a treat!). If she weren't with us, I would've just ordered a typical "Numba One!". The Pho did not disappoint. Yum and cheap! It's waiter service, but you pay at the counter (cash only). There's plenty of seats, so a quite bite here is good for groups. Pho Danh is inside the Hong Kong Mall 4 strip mall. Beware of the drivers in the parking lot though. They are bad! read more

This place is deep in Hong Kong Mall in Chinatown (where you enter, it's far to the right). I have been here a few times so decided to write a review. Pho Danh is probably one of the best pho places in Houston. It is usually crowded and sometimes there is a line. That generally is a good sign. There are a lot of tables to accommodate a lot of people. Of course my typical favorite is Pho Dac biet and Pho Bo Vien. Their red bean drink/dessert is good and so is their ice coffee (wished they gave me more, it was a little on the low side). But the broth of the pho you can tell is the real deal. It was fresh and not greasy/salty. The meats were sliced thin and they gave you a great portion. If you want something other than Pho, then you might want to try another pho restaurant, they do not serve things like Cha Gio or Goi Cuon. Service was polite, but a little slow. We got our pho quickly.. but the drinks took a while. Besides that a great place to go if you are in the mood for great pho. read more

We are from San Francisco and came to Houston for the Vietnamese New Year. On the first day we had breakfast here and the food was ok and the Vietnamese coffee was very good. Pho Danh probably has the largest bowl of pho that I've ever had, making it one of the better value pho in the Houston area. Danh is in the Hong Kong City Mall, which isn't my particularly favorite strip center to visit - the parking lot is gigantic, but Danh is at the end of the strip right next to Ocean Palace, which dominates a BIG chunk of the lot. You might have to park on the complete opposite end of the parking lot, which really isn't a big deal since you can enter the building on that complete opposite end and walk in the glory of air conditioning. Anyway, I was pretty hungry prior to dinner here, but their "large" is freaking HUGE, jam packed with all sorts of beef parts and noodles. If the large isn't your cup of tea, you can get a smaller bowl or even an XL bowl. You have to be pretty damn hungry if you want an XL bowl of pho here. If you're nearby and are craving pho, Danh is a pretty great option! I know multiple people who say Danh is their favorite in Houston, and I can totally see why. read more

My favorite Pho in Houston. It's located on the West side of Hong Kong City Mall. Their broth is rich, flavorful, and deep. I'm a big fan of the sliced ribeye (Tai) and brisket pho. If you have an appetite, I recommend going for the XL size. Since I moved inside the loop I find myself settling for Thien Anh in Midtown (excellent, but not quite as great.) Still, when I have a cold, or am just in the mood for the best of the best, I trek out to Bellaire for the good stuff. read more

The interior leaves something to be desired...no effort made in fact. My Mom's pho broth was cold. I tried to order pho with veggies but it's not an option. How about pho with tofu? Also not an option. The worst part is that we saw a roach...my Mom stepped on it and killed it. I get it. Places have roaches....but that pretty much grossed me out. read more

This place is the best place to get pho, in my opinion. I've tried so many places in the Bellaire area that I've lost count, but Pho Danh is definitely where I return when I want to be guaranteed a good bowl of pho. My favorites are Pho Bo Vien (perfect noodle to meatball ratio) and Pho Ga. Delicious broth made to perfection! read more

If you love pho, Houston is a great place to be. In fact, there are so many excellent options to choose from, it can be tough to pick a spot. Today, I wanted to try someplace I hadn't been before, and I am very pleased with my decision to come here. First-- finding the place. The reviews I read described it as being in "the back" of the mall. I think it is better described as the "right side." If you enter in the main entrance in the front, head to the right, and when you reach the end, take a left and it is there on the right. What sets this apart from other pho restaurants in town? First thing that got me was the portion size. I ordered the large (the menu also features an "extra large"), and it was *loaded* with meat. I had planned to head to the crepe shop across the hall afterwords, but I was stuffed-- which is a good thing! I am used to leaving pho shops a little hungry. Now, an hour and a half later, I'm still full. Second thing, speed of service. A lot of really good, popular Vietnamese eateries in town are notorious for slow service. Not so with this place. They had it right out. I was eating probably within two minutes of sitting down. Most important thing-- the quality of the food. I got there towards the end of the day, so I was a little worried everything wouldn't be quite fresh anymore. Nothing to fear. The big plate of sprouts and greens was crispy and colorful. The broth was deep, dark, and rich; the surface sparkling just a little from the natural oils. The herbal notes were very subtle-- just a hint of anise, not a sensory overload. The meat was savory and a nice texture. Noodles were good. The iced coffee was good, and they had a ton of other tempting drinks to choose from. Price was reasonable. And it was convenient being there in the mall as I had some groceries to stock up on while I was there. Overall, great experience. I will most definitely return. read more

One of my favorite Pho places. Their broth is always fresh. The only reason this place doesn't get a 5 star is the service. But with most vietnamese establishments it's understood that the service is going to suck. The food always comes out hot and fast. read more

The meat broth is heavy on star anise, which gives it a perfumed quality. It is good, satisfying, but not like the heavy meat broth that tastes of boiled meat with globules of surface fat. Plentiful meat in the large portion. I also tasted the "fish" (faux) pho which includes squid, shrimp, fish balls, and two types of noodles (rice and egg). The broth is lighter and the best I've tried in Houston for fish pho. Unfortunately, it does not include much seafood. Cafe sua da (iced coffee) is not too sweet (not more than a 1/2 inch of condensed milk on the bottom of the cup) and arrives with a separate glass of water to dilute to your liking. The premises are bright and the clientle mostly Asian. I tried Pho Danh II based on a Fearless Critic recommendation (Justin). Phon Danh II is the second of five Pho places in HK city mall I have tried, and the fourth in Houston. It is the best so far, but I'm still looking! read more

I was supposed to practice dances at some church. But an organizer told me that the practice had been canceled.I had to kill my time.I stopped by Dahn.It was around 6pm. No one was there.Usually, this place was packed.I guess after 6 pm ,it might be empty.I loved the prices. I still don't understand Vietnamese noodles are so cheap.I loved quick services,It is faster than McDonalds. Broth is the most important in Japanese ramen noodles.Regarding Pho here, it was Okay. There are 4 major ramen broth, which are tonkotsu, miso, shio, and shoyu.Regarding pho, I can't choose any broth. It might be some chicken and salty broth. Noodles were very thin.Very Al dende. It was good to eat. I went to Wikipedia, It says" The Hanoi and Saigon styles of pho differ by noodle width, sweetness of broth, and choice of herbs." I am a Japanese.I can tell differences of ramen noodles. But I am not an expert of Vietnam food.I don't know this restaurants's style. After I finished eating noodles, I tried " Japanese way" .I mean, I brought the bowl to my mouth, Then I drunk the soup.Zuru, Zuru, Zuru.(ずる、ずる、する）Zuru is some noise when Japanese slurp ramen noodles. It was Okay,No one complained. because no one at at the restaurant. LOL. I can't say anything about the services.Usually, Vietnamese were unfriendly. It was Okay.Usually, I say " Arigato' .Most Vietnamese understood Arigato.Which means Thank you in Japanese. There are literally, tons of Vietnamese noodle restaurants in this area.Pho Dahn is one of the best in this area. read more

Giving this place 5 stars cause it is my favorite pho. I've had pho in several cities around the US and I still say this is my favorite. Its fresh, quick, and good. They also have an XL bowl! Can't complain too much about the service, its on par with an Asian place. Guess their tips usually reflect that too. This place does get ridiculously crowded though. Especially on the weekend. Watch out for noon-2 time when church/temple goers get out. Few tables are lined up in a row so you may have to sit with strangers. Not sure how their other stuff is because I come here strictly for pho and it is good... read more

I love this place. I wish there was one right next door. I am willing to drive about 25 minutes to get here. I do come here at least several times a month. And I have eaten here 4 days in a row. This is one of the cleanest pho restaurants in Houston. I take any excuse to come here and I could eat it any day. I usually get their combination pho (usually how I rate a place because I get to try each type of meat). Meats are fresh. the brisket is delicious. I like how their broth isn't super oily. One thing I would like is for them to serve delicious egg rolls and spring rolls. Then it would be my ultimate favorite pho joint. On another suggestion: I wish they had longer hours. Sometimes when I get off of work late it's hard to get to Chinatown in time. read more

Came here for the first time after hearing a friend rave about it. It did not disappoint!! The Bon Bo Hue was on point, very rich broth. Wife had the Pho Tai and it was also really good. When on the west side of town, I love getting Pho Danh. The pho is good and they do focus on quality here. I just hate that it is in the Hong Kong mall. It is kind of annoying because accessibility kinda sucks. Still, I do like that is is clean and that the AC blows cold. It is not fun eating pho in Houston in a place with weak AC or only vent blowing. In terms of the pho, I like that the broth is clear and not fatty. Ask any Vietnamese person and they will always order their broth to come out "nuoc chong." They use very little MSG here -- just traces -- I can tell and am a good judge. I like the eye round steak -- I order it on the side and dip in the broth to cook. Very good. I like how they cut their beef here. It is not sloppy. Hence, your meat isn't chewy. Probably some of the best pho in the more western part of the Asia Town area. Disclaimer, this is more like a 3.5 star review. Definitely not a 3 or a 4 but definitely authentic tasting pho. Personally, prefer Midtown Pho Saigon or Huynh. read more

I hate to give these guys 2 stars since they were really nice although I didn't like their pho. This is one of my favorite dishes and since I moved to Houston I have been trying to find a great spot (I loved my Dallas pho restaurant on the corner of Fitzhugh and Bryan). Anyway, their meat is fatty. They use dark meat for their chicken. They also put a lot of random green herbs in their soup. I was overwhelmed by some of them. Enough to stop it! :( I'm not saying that they are terrible but being that I've eaten though all over the place I can say that I have had better. My search for pho in H-town continues. read more

Went with my family who are especially picky eaters. Was a faithful pho eater at pho tan loc until they changed management and went down in quailty because they expanded their menu. Pho Danh is no frills with no other extraneous menu items to distract it from doing the pho right. The beef broth is one of the best I have had. It was not greasy or msg-like and you could tell it was fresh not sitting on the stove and reheated. The meat medleys looked good. We tried the #17 and #7 and they were great. The tripe is sliced thin the way I like it and the tendon was delicious. The fatty well done brisket was cooked and my mom was convinced it was marinated in some special marinade because it was so delicious. The plate full of veggies was plentiful, fresh, and clean. I would only say I like to pick the tips off my bean sprouts when I make pho at home but I don't think many restaurants are able to do that due to man power. Broth was screaming hot...love it! The restaurant was crowded and filled with asians which is a good sign. Negatives are it is located in Hong Kong Market Mall which is horrendous to park at. Service was very polite and fast. Workers looked clean and were polite. Atmosphere is not formal but pho isn't a fancy type of restaurant. So I thought it appropriate. Large bowl $6.75. Small bowl $6.05. read more

What the heck pho danh? U used to be my favorite pho place in houston, but my last 2 visits left me disappointed and confused about our relationship. First, you were trying to mop the floor when I came in. I sat down where all the other customers were sitting, on the dry half...then you made me get up to move to the just-mopped and very-wet side, even though I asked to stay where I was. On top of that, it was super smelly...already not so happy about my visit. I understand that you want to clean...but everyone else was still eating and sitting on the dry side...anyway... Then, I got really diseased-looking basil...with tons of black spots. grossest basil I've ever seen at a pho place..and the brisket wasn't like usual..it was more than half fat... Then the next visit, you messed up my order...I wanted more meatballs and less brisket. You gave me 18 slices of brisket (WHO CAN EAT THAT MUCH?!) and 6 pieces of meatballs...and you tried to bring me even more brisket when I told you about the problem...um...I don't know how that could have been a miscommunication since I said it really clearly and showed you what I wanted more of and less of. I guess this is helpful that I crave going to your place less cause it's so far from me...I don't even know if I want to go back anymore... The plus sides are that you serve culantro (not cilantro) and your meatballs are extra good...but still...if it wasn't for previous great visits, I'd give you a 2 star review read more
