Don't forget: ca$h only. Although the broth is not much to write home about, Pho Bang food has been consistent and value for the $. One bowl of pho is pretty big for me, so I tend to get one to share with a friend. I've tried the banh mi and it was meh/bland, but the hoisin and sriracha sauces on the table made it better. Favorite pho place in the neighborhood. Their pho is authentic, the broth is perfectly balanced. The workers are real Vietnamese. Not sure why they couldn't be a 24-hr place, because it would've helped at times. You can still count on them for a cheap, hearty, homey meal, with nonchalant service every time. Their pho broth is simple, but has nice depth of flavors and is always piping hot. #1 Xe Lua or #2 Dac Biet is the way to go. Thinly sliced brisket, flank, eye of round, etc. cook within seconds in the hot beef broth. All the condiments on the side are game for consumption, including bean sprouts, basil leaves, and Sriracha plus hoisin for the meats. I order from the Com Dia (rice dishes) list -#93 Com Ga Nuong (grilled lemongrass chicken with rice, fish sauce vingagrette on the side, with tomatoes and cucumber garnishes). This Vietnamese restaurant is considered old school, similar to Pho Bac in Elmhurst and Thai Son in Jackson Heights. The servers here can speak Cantonese. When I entered, most of the customers are Asian, with one Caucasian, one Black, and one Hispanic parties. Even though it was 3:30 pm, the place was busy. It opened a few years ago. It offers more Americanized Chinese slash Vietnamese menu. It was just renovated and is driving Pho Bang out of business. As I enter I see fewer and fewer customers. The food is not the same ! etc. When customers from out of town arrive it is as if you are looking for the real Ray/s Pizza and instead find "Rae's Pizza" right next store. Which is the original ? We've been coming here for at least 30+ years because of the great prices and delicious food. Covid has caused them to raise their prices significantly . For $20, you will be filled with an appetizer, entree, and dessert or drink. My husband and I came here for an early lunch today right when they open at 10 am. We were both lucky enough to find parking nearby and was able to spend an hour for lunch with each other. The beef balls were very tasty and the rice noodles was cooked perfectly, not chewy nor hard. The Vietnamese sandwich was ok, I've had better. Could use more meat and lacking a few ingredients to be called an authentic Viet sandwich but I know every place makes it differently. Also, they put way too much pickled carrots and daikon. My husband had the summer rolls and the pork vermicelli; he said they were good and I took his words for it since he inhaled everything without any complaints. Since my friend communicated to them in Vietnamese (not saying they're indifferent towards Chinese), service was excellent. Food came out in a timely matter and they checked up on us to make sure everything went well. I ordered the Dac Biet and I loved it. There was enough of their thinly-sliced meat and the broth was light, but tasty. One of my friends was still not full after a bowl, so he ordered a Roast Beef Banh Mi. I had a little bit and it is by far, one of the best banh mis I've ever had. The baguette was toasty and warm and there were many ingredients. Not much cha siu but it was filling, to say the least. You know a viet restaurant is going to deliver good food when the floors are sticky, chopsticks need wiping down, and the waiters are loud and maybe even borderline rude. It's a no frills type of restaurant but the food speaks for itself and you feel like you're in Vietnam because of how run down your surrounding looks. If you can man up and accept your environment for what it is. Check this place out. I do feel like they can use a slight renovation though. Pho BANG BANG for the win babyyy I'd have to say that this is my go to spot for Pho. I always get the #1 - large bowl of Pho with various cuts of meat. I went recently, and the price is $8.25 if I remember correctly. Taste-wise, I feel like they do everything right. The noodles are not overcooked like some other places and are usually just right. The cuts of meat are enjoyable, and the bowl is nice and big (but could be bigger). The broth is nice and flavorful. It is hot, sweaty, crowded, and unfriendly in here, which is kind of expected for Flushing. Waiters can't really speak English, so just point to a number. They make it crystal clear that they could care less about you and want you to order and eat quickly so they can kick you out as fast as possible. At least the food comes out fast.
