I absolutely adore Pho and Thai of Eagle River. With everything being made to order, the pho comes out piping hot and delicious with the usual assortment of crisp, fresh vegetables - lemongrass, cilantro, and bean sprouts - as add-ins. The bowls are enormous, generally leaving me with enough of everything for lunch the next day, making the meal well worth its modest price. The staff is unfailingly polite and very prompt with your order. I'm continually impressed by their quiet professionalism and efficiency each time I go. The restaurant is easy to overlook, being tucked back behind the Northrim Bank in the Fire Lake Plaza shopping center, but I highly recommend the visit. The warm, casual atmosphere of the interior is especially great on a cold or rainy day when you find yourself wanting something hot and filling. Finding yummy, healthy food doesn't have to be hard. This restaurant has been the only restaurant that I've truly liked in Alaska, that is also fairly priced. I'm from NY and tend towards ethnic food. This place definitely filled that desire. I got the banh cuon without the bean sprouts and the portion was perfect. The taste was slightly vinegary at first but my palette got used to it quickly. Some of the best Thai food I've had. The yellow curry is awesome. Pad Thai with shrimp is also a great entree. I like mine spicy so you have to let them know on a scale of 1-5 what you like. 4 is good if you like spicy. 5 is almost inedible. I would have given it 5 stars but the interior could use some upgrades. read more

Lazette's depiction of this restaurant is just sad and inaccurate. Alaska is expensive, get over it. Anyway, this place is super cute and inviting. Before I started college, I practically spent my whole summer there with friends. The owner is really sweet, and will even joke about how I take forever to eat. The pho is served in big portions, enough for two meals, so I usually only order it after I work up the appetite hiking. I have a rather small stomach, though, so take that into consideration. The spring rolls are amazing 100% of the time, as is the Thai Custard dessert. A friend and I tried to replicate the dessert at home, but just couldn't do it, haha, nothing compares! I can't guarantee the same experience for everyone, especially if you're just trying it for the first time, as I'm a bit of a now-and-then-again regular. But seriously, be nice, and this place will be nice right back to you. :D read more

On the search for Good Pad Thai Chicken... I ordered this dish "medium" in terms to how hot. Especially since I've never dined here before. Um....Let's just say my hairstylist said my hair will START growing back in a few months, it'll take a couple of years to get my long red locks back... Absolutely the best Thai I've had - ever! Their food is consistently delicious and the portions are generous. The pad Thai is fabulous and the panang beef curry is unbelievable! Excellent service. They are warm and kind and never condescending to my white ass, unlike many of the Thai restaurants in town (Pho Lena jumps to mind). Below review is interesting. Prices at this place is average for Alaska and especially for Eagle River. I think it is poor taste to rate a restaurant low because you aren't aware of the cost where you live / frequent restaurants. With that said fried rice dishes gets a 3. Egg rolls get a 5 - actual flavor, meat in them refreshing not to get the standard crappy egg roll that is served in many restaurants. Their curries gets 4-5. This is the good stuff. This is the curry I tried to find a substitute for when I moved to California for a year but could never replace. I always get either the yellow or massaman curry 10*. It's spicy enough to clear the sinuses and I can only go a few weeks without having some. Highly recommended. read more

Good service and very tasty food. I am not a regular Thai food eater but do like spicy food. I had the Chicken Pad Thai with a level 3 spicy sauce. It was very yummy. Excellent balance of spicyness and flavor. Service was fast and friendly and the prices were great for the portion size. I will definitely go back and have lunch there again. read more

My family and I always get take out here. They have the best fresh rolls in Alaska! Sometimes on the phone its hard to understand the mother who works there. The pad see wu is always on point. Went back a couple of days after my last review and I'm leaving them at 4 stars but wanted to report that it was NOT anywhere near 5* hot this time. The server made the same face of disbelief both times we ordered it that hot even though I reassured him I wanted it hot. This time he was either confused because my husband ordered 3* hot on two other dishes (which weren't even 1* hot), sloppy, or just didn't believe we could handle it (even though we were relishing the 5* heat just a few days prior. I'll be back, though I won't order the green curry again (one that is usually my favorite) as it was pretty tasteless overall. The red curry was decent, the spring rolls are good, the Thai iced coffee is average, and the noodles weren't bad. Where can we get thin rice noodles in anything besides Pad Thai anymore??? The service was less then okay. Being able to see our waiter sit a few tables away on his phone was disheartening and made us uncomfortable. The employee behind the counter shouted to us asking if we were ready to order. We ordered the pho bo vien and the pad zhee ew kai. The pad zhee ew was good but definately not the best ive had, in my opinion it was way to sweet. The pho's broth was completely flavorless,their was way too much noodles and the meatballs were disgusting looking. I actually had to look up if it was tongue. Not even to mention the awful smell. Our food was out a little too quickly and that with the meatballs lead us to believe it was warmed up. The restaurant was completely empty (3:00 on a monday isnt too weird) and yet we were still only checked on one time in the forty minutes we were there. When we were finished we sat, not knowing that we had to pay at the front. The actual restaurant was clean but didnt have a smell if that makes sense. The food was a bit overpriced. But the candy at the end was nice. After standing at the counter waiting to pay standing right in front of a employee on his phone then and only then could we pay. customer service is horrible !! There is a girl in the front who is always rude and snappy.. she's the only one that speaks English. It's so frustrating calling and ordering a pickup order bc the other people don't speak English and have to literally repeat the order three or four times to make sure they understand exactly what you want. I went into this restaurant a year ago and almost called the health inspectors. #1 the floors where filthy that my shoes made a sticking sound. #2 While waiting to take my daughter into the womens restroom I heard the toilet flush and then a female employee walked out and back to the kitchen.
