My Bánh mì was fantastic. I ate the whole thing before I could take a picture! So I ordered fresh spring rolls just to make sure this place is legit... and badda-boom it is! The service was wonderful, and the dishes are prepared fresh. I highly recommend this restaurant. I will be back to have the Pho and update my review.

The food is amazing! Let your taste buds be transported to Vietnam as you taste the wonderful food at this local restaurant. Anchorage can be extremely cold during the winter months. No worries, this restaurant will warm you up with some very tasty and delicious Pho as well as other very tasty soups. The menu cover dishes from South East Asia with focus on Vietnamese cuisine. Service is quick and the staff is friendly. Prices are reasonable. Highly recommend this place. Your palate will thank you after. Enjoy and Buon Appetito!

    Pho Tai

Ordered pho tai. The broth tasted like chicken broth, not beef. Not very flavorful. Noodles were way over cooked and nothing like typical pho rice noodles which are usually thin and flat. These were rounded and the bite profile was more like a Korean kalguksoo.

I'm from Orange County, CA, home of the largest Vietnamese population outside of Vietnam. There's a ton of Vietnamese food, especially pho. I have to say, I'm impressed with the pho here. It's top notch and ranks very high on my list. I'm in Alaska for a business trip and I typically would not go eat pho. However, it's cold outside, snowing, and my hotel doesn't have a restaurant. I looked for all the restaurants within walking distance and I found this one. At first, I was skeptical. How good can it be? I was just hoping it was edible. The restaurant was crowded even though it's past lunch hour. I sat down and he gave me a cup of ice water. I ordered the pho special and it came out within three minutes. I was impressed that the restaurant served mint along with bean sprouts. Wow! When the pho came out, I immediately tasted the broth before I added sriracha and hoisin sauce. It was delicious. I didn't taste any msg. The cost was $17 and the pho had plenty of meats. I was full. Even the noodles were good! The noodles weren't clumped together. I was quite impressed! The owner came by and we struck a conversation. He said that most of the pho restaurants are owned by the family members so the taste is similar. I highly recommend this pho restaurant.

Best Vietnamese crepes that are LOADED in Anchorage!! Love the slight heat of the yellow curry, if I'm honest I could even do without all the potatoes, carrots and chicken it's SO good! The rice served with it was nice, moist, and stickkkyy (hehe) The beef was rare when it came out which is perfection as it cooks more in the broth. Food comes out really quick, hot, and fresh. I love all the open lighting with the windows in there as well. Lack of star because of the service our waitress was talking on her AirPods and kept missing questions we were asking or requesting. - & that is a common issue here. Also the lumpia isn't that great at all, and overcooked. Everything else has always been delicious!

Another solid, if unremarkable, pho house in Anhorage. Pho Vietnam has many locations throughout Anchorage, and this seems to be the original. (?) This pho house is unique in that their main specialty seems to be...pho. (some other pho places seem to feature many Thai/Laotian dishes as well. In fact, sometimes the pho can take a back seat) They've got all the classic pho variations you could think of, and you've got all the various accoutrements at your table. Prices are ~$10, standard for Anchorage. Definitely worth the stop if you're in the area and need some tasty soup.

I travel the world and try all the foods I can and this place has the best Pho and spring rolls I have found so far. The egg rolls are great too. I an in Anchorage several times a month and have eaten here many times. I have always had great service. I believe that English is not the owner's first language so I believe that people mistake that as them being rude. This is my go to place when I'm in Alaska and I highly recommend it.

I am from California and get to visit Anchorage a couple times a year, if I am lucky. No matter when I visit, my one request is to eat at Pho Vietnam. Sure I can get Vietnamese everywhere in the Bay Area, bit I love the broth here and it's my favorite place in Anchorage. I'm easy to please.

Food doesn't come out as quick as other pho places but definitely worth the wait. Will visit again during my next trip! Staff is very friendly and a lot of space inside as well. FOOD: Lao Pork Sausage (8/10) - Can't find this in many places. Amazing!!! Super juicy, slightly salty sausage that pairs perfectly with the sauce and rice. Would get again! Pho Beef Combo (8/10) - Huge portion sizes for the price (superbowl). Amazing!! Broth and noodles are perfect Pho Tendon (7/10) - Also can't get this in many other places, but comes with so much tendon if you like it! Lao Fresh Rolls (6/10) - Solid spring rolls but the chicken is a little bit dry. I would get it again with only the shrimp. Shrimp Eggroll (5/10) - A fried shrimp in wonton wrapper, would skip this.

This one also had imitation krab, which is fine but not my favorite. The side dish of garnishes was kind of weak, just bean sprouts, lime and jalepenos. I wish it had cilantro. They must have been out of basil that day too, because we didn't get any with the pho. I want to find a seafood pho with fish cake or house made seafood balls. I think I maybe set my expectations a bit high since moving from Hawaii, every pho place there is a peak experience. My husband tried the beef brisket massaman curry which he thought was very watery and very light in the spice department, which he didn't like much. However our child loved her small kid size chicken pho and we all loved the mango smoothie. It's one of the most flavorful smoothies with perfectly thick blended consistency that you can still suck up the straw. Ambiance is kind of old, dank, dark, and dated but also holds some oddly charming quality nonetheless. Service was straight-forward. Special s/o to the man who welcomed us in, immediately fetched a high chair for our child, and then also helped me with my giant diaper bag which he didn't have to do but was very appreciated. I bet he's a dad.

The Banh Xeo, even though it was supposed to be the main attraction, became kind of the side course. That's not to say it wasn't tasty, it was also delicious. I like their menu because it has a good variety, and the food is pretty solid overall. The dine-in service has generally been good, and the restaurant itself looks clean, modern, and comfortable. That said, the takeout experience has almost always been on the slower side throughout the years, so that is one area I think they could improve. Still, Phonatik is one of the better pho restaurants in Anchorage. I really think they have a lot of potential, but they may need to step up their game a bit to become truly outstanding.

Interior is modest, simple, and felt clean enough. Our table had hoisin sauce, sriracha and a pot of chili oil. There was oil on the underside of the pot of chili oil though, which was a cleanliness issue. Our family got the all shrimp fresh rolls, a seafood pho, a mixed beef pho and a small kid size chicken pho. We also tried the hazy IPA beers on tap. Notes on the food: the rolls were okay. The peanut sauce was a touch too thick and lacked dimension in flavor. Ingredients inside the rolls were fresh but would've been improved with a little mint, basil, or other fresh herb. Seafood pho was decent, but I longed for a fish ball, fish cake, or other item besides the imitation krab. I picked out the squid because it was too chewy.
