Stopped by for lunch the other day. The oxtail pho and red chicken curry soup were both delicious, and the wontons were a great appetizer. The beef fried rice was tasty, but it had very little beef and was mostly rice. The biggest downside was the atmosphere. The staff didn't seem very welcoming, and the booths were small and not very comfortable. Overall, the food was very good which is why I am giving 4 stars,.....but the service and seating could be improved. read more

Pho Saigon has quickly become a go to place for my husband and I. We absolutely love the food and the people there. My husband and I always order a Thai green milk tea, the fresh spring rolls, and the #28: rare and well done meat pho Never disappoints and always delicious! The service is amazing too. Our food and drinks come out so quickly, we have never had to wait long for our food at Pho Saigon. The moment you come in, you seat yourself and are given a minute to look over the menu. Food gets out quick, hot and delicious every time. The restaurant is family friendly. Gets easily busy during the lunch hour since the shopping center is right next to the base. Our JBER military people are always coming in for lunch as well. Overall, this place is great. If you're ever at the Tikatnu Shopping Center, drop by Pho Saigon! You won't be disappointed. read more

Tried pho Saigon at Tikahtnu finally!! Had the Thai Tom Ka (apologies for spelling) it's the coconut based soup. I had it with chicken and it has mushrooms and veggies. TBH I've had way better don't come for me. Still the place was cozy, service was pleasant, the sauce bar on the table and the rice a nice touch. Now let's talk about the avocado shake!!! Was running errands and saw that the commons had a Pho place. I love a good bowl of Pho and haven't been able to enjoy it in a restaurant since last year. Popped in and grabbed a table and ordered the rare beef pho with a coke. My meal was in front of me within 5 minutes. Pho was hot and came with all the sides. The broth was very flavorful and there was lots of noodles and thin sliced beef. As I looked around I noticed that everyone's meals looked awesome. I'll have to order something new next time. The food is delicious & I love the seafood cold noodle. It has fresh vegetables & is filled with a variety of seafood, like calamari, shrimp, and imitation crab. However, the noodles could be cooked better. The last two times I've been here. They've been clumped together in various places within the bowl, as if they'd been cooked too quick & didn't have time to finish. The service here could also use a lot of work. I told the waitress straight up that I wanted Seafood Cold Noodle with NO onions, and she wrote it down and brought out the Seafood salad with out noodles & with onions. They made it for me again, after I told them that isn't what I ordered. Then when they brought out the right dish, they brought it with onions. I was not happy, because I had to pick out all of the onions. I hope they realized they just wasted food. This isn't just a one time thing, they've done this before. I love PHO SAIGON! if you want authentic Vietnamese pho this is the place to go! I've been coming here religiously for three years and do not get tired of it. Their peanut sauce is not thick and is full of flavor! Their spring rolls we order them without veggies so it's nice that we were able to customize that. In terms of staff being non personal that's how my husband culture is. So I didn't take offense but husband is Vietnamese and more or less they keep to themselves. When I asked a question they answered quickly. The pho is deleted and fresh always ask for fresh veggies makes your bowl super flavorful. read more

The prices here are much better than other Pho in Anchorage. I would say this place is not the best pho by any means but isn't the worst. I believe the pho is lacking flavor in their broth, it is more watery with color than with taste. I tried the veggie pho and did like the veggies in the pho. The service was really good. I did however try to get the military discount and even tried to pull what Kent H. did with his driver's license and i mentioned that I was a veteran, but you have to be active duty and not a dependent to receive their discount. I would not come here again, just because their are so many other pho places to try and ones I would def choose over this mediocre cooking. No complaints at all. I'm surprised I hadn't eaten here sooner! I was always skeptical but I am glad I gave it a chance when a friend suggested that we eat here. The place itself is conveniently located near lots of shopping opportunities. There's other great places to around here too. But give this place a try. The place itself is very small but they sure made good use of their space! It's nice because you don't feel like your crammed in there like a sardine....it's just right. But maybe I felt comfortable because I chose a booth. We arrived sometime around 3 or 4 pm (just before the dinner time rush). It was perfect timing. It was not too crowded. We were warmly welcomed by a gentleman with a welcoming smile; The kind that made you feel right at home and ready for some Pho! For this early dinner I ordered the Vegetable stir fry with shrimp. It comes with white rice. It tasted delicious. The stir fry sauce was not overpowering and really complimented the shrimp and veggies. I devoured the entire thing. I enjoyed my meal so much that by the time I remembered to post a picture for you I was almost finished...and no one wants to see that. So I owe you one! :-). We also ordered the egg rolls for the table. It comes with 4 pieces. They were crunchy and fresh! The sauce that accompanied it was flavorful but it was watery instead of saucy. It was still enjoyable, but with a group of friends it was hard to get sauce on the eggroll without it dripping and we weren't provided with small plates for sharing. I totally overlooked that though and was not a big deal, although I can see others having a problem with this. Also don't expect the waiter to ask how your food is. I'm not sure if it's a cultural thing but in my experience at other restaurants of this kind you don't really get the waiter coming to check on you every 10 min. Here, they let you be and I can appreciate that...but then again I didn't need anything. The prices were very reasonable. You can't beat $12 for a decent portion of stir fry with shrimp. I was very pleased with this. It was refreshing to see reasonable prices in Anchorage because I usually find myself paying $25 on a meal just for myself. This little place is packed with flavor and very good prices. I'm so glad I gave this place a try. I'm looking forward to trying some other items on the menu. Hopefully you'll have a good experience here too. Oh my goodness and as I read over my review I forgot to mention. Try their natural juices! Holy moly they are just fantastic! Ok at best. The staff was non personal. The food was bland. I got the Panang chicken curry and my husband got the grilled pork banh mi. We eat Vietnamese food almost twice a week and the grilled pork wasn't what we were expecting/used to. There's usually some char on the meat but what we got was "juicy" as it in was drenched in whatever marinade/sauce they used which made the French bread soggy. The broth of the pho used to be good but I think a new owner took over this place. Don't get me wrong the food is still good and the location is convenient being right outside JBER Muldoon gate. I was a bit skeptical about the food since the cashier wasn't Vietnamese. However, she informed me that the owner was Vietnamese. Anyhow, the food was delicious. The broth was well seasoned. This bowl of pho was one of the closest thing I found to the one that my friend made. It's authentic Vietnamese food. The only thing that I could fault it was that the oxtail was a bit chewy. Don't waste your time or money here! I'm quite disappointed having to give this business a one star because I've eaten here years ago, and it was just fine. I've decided to come here after all my go to spots were closed. I ordered off their "preferred" online app, and it was simple and easy. However, once I got there they informed me that the bahn mi sandwich could not be fulfilled due to lack of bread. It would have been nice to get a call from them saying that but sure whatever not a huge deal just as long I could get a refund. They then told me that they could not give me a refund and I would have to contact the app. It was late at night so I knew customer service would not pick up from the app, and wanted to make sure I had all the information before leaving the store and situation. They could not provide me where on the app, their number, even my order number, or her own name. Not exactly the best feeling when you paid for a good, not getting it, and then the producer basically telling you to figure out how to get money back yourself One slight good thing I do have to say is that one of my other order came out! woo! However, it was also really disappointing. So disappointing. I ordered tofu fried rice. On the online app it said it comes with assorted vegetables and your choice of meat. When I got it was just tofu and rice. I thought they got the order wrong and went back in. I confronted her, and she told me the menu in person was different as it was vegetables OR tofu. I showed her the online menu saying vegetables AND tofu and that's what I expected, and she proceeds to tell me "I don't know" I wasn't exactly hoping for a refund because apparently she does not know how to do that, but at least some corrective action. The fried rice itself was tasteless, lacked major flavors, and simple tasted like soy sauce and loads of oil. Overall, I didn't think I would find Pho in Anchorage, but here it is! The place is pretty modern looking and clean. I ordered the pho and thought it was okay at best. Round eye beef was somewhat tough and the broth was okay at best. I like it a tad bit more salty. Plus, I love it when it's steaming hot - felt it was lukewarm. Today, their two locations are on Dimond (in the new shopping mall that's across from Costco), and at Tikahtnu Commons. Come here for affordable food that will satisfy everyone in your family. In fact, one of the pickiest kids I know loves the food here. Aside from the obvious pho noodle bowls, there are Chinese and Vietnamese dishes available. My favorite is the Beef With Broccoli, with extra sauce, veggies, and rice. I have never been disappointed. The staff here don't leave much to be desired. They are attentive but not too annoying. The reason I am giving this place 2 stars is because their customer service and service in general is horrible. I've gone to this place before the pandemic and after the pandemic and both times their bathroom was extremely dirty, I've seen a few employees come in from being outside and did not wash their hands. Yesterday when I went in and ordered the lady that took my order was on her phone the whole time, no eye contact whatsoever. I ordered a meal without shrimp and when she gave it to me it had shrimp and I asked her I specifically asked for NO shrimp and she accused me of not specifying that I did not want any. She didn't hear me because she was too busy on her iphone texting . So, I cannot recommend this place at all. If someone has bad service, there's just no excuse for bad service. Here are some of our favorite dishes: Saigon Dry Noodle - cooked noodles that are seasoned with spices and served with pork and shrimp with a bowl of broth on the side. Came in the other night for dinner after a movie at the Tik. We were a band of 5 who wanted to converse over food and wondered over around 8:15PM (this is important as the joint closes at 9PM). We waited to sit because we weren't sure if we should sit at a booth with one sticking out, or just maneuver the tables in the center together, which is what we ended up doing after standing around for a while waiting for the waiter to give us the go-ahead. We all ordered dinner. I wanted to order the cold noodle salad with tofu and egg roll and dude was saying it's extra for the tofu. I was like it's supposed to come with it. To save myself pulling up a picture from yelp I switched to the panang curry since I liked it last time. Others ordered various items with one just tea. Food took a while and were staggered and my panang curry came out way different then last time and was poorly made. So we're eating and 9PM rolls around and the waitress is sitting there just mean mugging our table. I didn't face her so it didn't bother me, but those that were didn't enjoy it. We noticed they didn't charge us for an entrée and made sure to mention it, but now that I think of the crappy service and food preparation I wish we didn't pay for it. If you don't want to keep the doors open past 9PM then make sure you seat people promptly, take their orders promptly, make the food and deliver to table promptly, and cash the table out promptly. All would have been well as we are a conscientious bunch, but we can't eat any faster than when we are allowed to order and the food delivered. Meh. There are other establishments near the Tik that appreciate diners' dollars and serve food with a smile. read more

Very small restaurant. We came here on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty packed. Service is good and food comes out pretty fast. They serve wonton soup here which was decent. Yum. Soup on any cold day is a must for Alaskan winters! I usually get their seafood appetizer soup. It's like egg drop soup but with bits of seafood mixed in along with the egg. Their pho is delicious and the portions are huge! I think they have one of the best pho broths in town. If you're looking for a good appetizer the fresh rolls are not a bad way to go.
