I have been coming here consistently for the past 3 years. There is not one problem I have had so far. However, it can get rather hot during the summer. The food is warming physically and emotionally. I usually order the #12 XL as it is my personal favorite. We came on a Saturday afternoon, and was seated right away. There is no AC, but they do have ceiling fans. Our server was kind, letting us know know where to sit so we can get the fan, and he was quite funny as well! We ordered the #1, Special Combo Pho and the egg rolls. The pho was good--savory broth, not sweet, noodles were soft, chewy, semi-sticky and had a nice texture to it. The meat was not that soft or tender, but overall, I am satisfied with this pho place. This has been our family's go-to for pho for 25 years. It's where my (19 y/o) daughter first remembers using chopsticks and first getting a boba drink -- before boba places were a "thing." So many good memories here and it hasn't changed a bit in 25 years. They do take cards now (for many years they were cash only) but there's no option to add a tip so if you use a card be sure you have a cash tip for the table. The menu is what you might expect -- a lot of pho options. I usually get a small number 11 (lean flank). It's very consistent and unless you are very big and very hungry, a size small is good for just about anyone. The pho comes with a plate of veggies to add to your soup (bean sprouts, jalapeño slices, lime wedges, plenty of basil) and the table is set up with sriracha, hoisin sauce and peanuts. We love the pho. The broth is very consistent and flavorful and the noodles are always great. The meat can be a bit hot or miss (last night it was almost all fat and very little meat, which is not what you expect from "lean flank" but I'm not getting the pho for the meat). My husband when he's not in a soup mood often gets the ginger chicken. Very flavorful and gingery with lots of chicken and onions. For a drink I often get the "soda lemonade" (made with limes) and it's very light, sweet, and refreshing. My daughter gets her old standby the green boba drink. We forget what it's called but there's a picture of it on the menu. It almost tastes like bubble gum flavor but not quite -- there's a fruity flavor in there too. Last night we also got an order of the egg rolls. Crispy and delicious and we love the sweet-spicy dipping sauce; but you've gotta let those things cool before you try to eat them. Came to the restaurant at around 1pm ish. It was a packed house full of customers . I saw the review as a solid 4 star on Yelp. In my mind Im like this place is going to be good. It took me 20-25 min to receive my 1 bowl of pho that I ordered. It did seem busy so I'll give them that. I was not impressed by the broth at all. The texture of the noodles was something I didn't like. Maybe it was soft to my liking but I didn't like it too much. Although it wasn't a game changer. I did appreciate that they accommodate to my request for steak on the side. Kudos to them on that. Apparently most restaurants I asked will charge or doesn't support that request. I've been coming here for decades now. With so many restaurants forced to close, I was happy to see Pho 99 was still open. This restaurant was a go-to spot for me in the early 90's and is still as I remember. Pho maybe one of the most perfect dishes on the planet. It's a flavorful broth with noodles and then whatever you add to it after that. Each combination of meats is added to the bowl before the broth is added to the noodles. That's the first customization. Each pho order comes with a plate of fresh garnishes. Usually Thai Basil, sometimes mint, jalapeno slices, lime wedges and a handful of bean sprouts. The table has a tray of sauces and other seasonings. I like the simple pho with rare steak (#16). The meat cooks the rest of the way when the broth is added, so it is completely cooked by the time the bowl arrives to your table. I can't really describe the taste, because pho is doctored by the consumer to taste. I add lime, Sriracha, Hoisin, jalapeno slices, bean sprouts, ground peanut and a little sugar to mine. The House Special is a seafood combination. It comes with imitation crab, shrimp, fish ball (a kind of meat ball made with fish), and calamari. My wife adds a bit of everything to her pho, and is very heavy handed with the Sriracha and chili oil. We also got beef Xeo Fun. Xeo Fun is a fat noodle that is stir fried with the seasonings and, in our case, beef. Their sauce is a little on the sweet side. What makes Pho so wonderful is not just the delicious food, but the experience. When the bowls come there's a bit of excitement in the customization process from then on. I've seen so many different combinations added that it really is up to the customer to make it to their taste. What makes one pho restaurant better than another is that broth.
