Their pho is mediocre. Not the best but not bad too. They didn't clean the meat/bone so the pho broth is not clean and clear. It's cloudy or... could it be, the pho broth went bad. I had a long day at work. Didn't eat anything because i was thinking of Pho Le, which is down the street but they close on Monday. So, pho VN it is. Came in for a bowl of hot pho. Right after finishing my bowl of pho. My stomach wasn't feeling right. I paid. Rushed home and had to sit on a bog. It's definitely something is wrong with their food. SERVICE : Is horrible. Not welcoming. Very rude and seems to not want to talk at all. No greeting nor smile. She just point to a table and brought me the menu. Never came back to take my order. A elderly man came from the back brought me a cup of water. I told him im ready. Apparently, I was waiting for a good 5 plus minutes. So i put my order in with him but he doesn't really understand. He went up to her and ask for help for a good 3 minutes. They seem to be arguing in their language. She seems iritated. She came up to me and gives me that side eye. I ask for extra meat and put it on the side. They still couldn't understand so it's ok. He came back with my bowl of pho. Extra meat inside of my bowl. The menu said it's $2 dollar for extra meat but she charged me $4. I was in the rush so i didn't want to talk. I paid and left urgently. She charged me service at 3.5%. I didnt even bother to tip. It was a horrible experience there. RATE : 1/5 AMBIANCE : Business is very slow. It was supper quiet with the tv on low. It's just me dinning in. The interrior is well kept and clean. RATE : 5/5 PHO #2 : STEAK & FLANK (SMALL @ 13.49) : The pho is ok. The aroma is very light. The flavor is ok. The earthy flavor is very mild. $13.49 for a small bowl of pho is a lot. Especially the small portion. I don't mind the portion but it's so pricey. RATE : 2/5 SIDE : EXTRA MEAT : $4 : The menu said $2. But I'm not sure why she charge me $4. For $4, i expect the meat to be more than what I recieve. RATE : 1/5 OVERALL : I do recommend checking the price on the menu and your receipt. The price is really off. I just didn't have the time and energy to talk. Plus, I got food poisoning here so I wouldn't recommend. Unless you want to try it out for your self. Who knows, different day is different. I've been looking for a solid pho place here in Fresno, and I think I've found it! It is tucked away in the corner of Willow and Nees, so I almost missed it driving by. However, I'm so glad I gave it a try! The restaurant was empty when I arrived, but the simple layout and vibes remind me of pho restaurants I went to growing up in SoCal. We were greeted by the female owner immediately when walking through the door and given a menu as soon as we were seated. Our orders also arrived very quickly. My only constructive criticism is I would have preferred more interactive service, like refilling the water glasses, but overall, the food more than made up for it. I decided to go with the Steak, Tendon, Tripe Pho, which is my basic order when I am trying a new pho restaurant. It was definitely a large portion, with a flavorful broth and generous amount of meat. At $14, I thought it was a great value, especially for the amount of meat included. Overall a delicious and nostalgic dish! I'm seeing a lot of good reviews about their Mongolian Beef, so I'll definitely be back to try that. I had the spicy Vietnamese brisket soup and there was a ton of brisket in it , which was super tender, a little different consistency than a typical brisket.Almostike sliced filet. Wonderful full flavor broth. The staff speaks no English so thank goodness for the pictures on the menu. We also had the special chow mein which was one of the most flavorful chow meins I have ever had. It had beef, chicken and pork. We came on Saturday around 12pm. The restaurant was completely empty however the service was still slow. They had a really strong incense sticks smell that gave us a headache. The waitress seemed confused with menu knowledge because I would order an item and she would just stare at me. I then proceeded to point at the item and she would repeat a different item back. Although I was trying to be patient It was very irritating. We got our order but had missing items so we had to reorder them which made all our food come at a different time. And it didn't help that they did "automatic" service charge. You should only be tipped if the service was good and fast. We also order Vietnamese sandwiches but 5 minutes later she came back and said Oh, no sandwiches today. Which you shouldn't advertise on your menu if it's limited only or not available everyday. We love Pho VN! We are pretty hooked on the chicken Pho, and have been here several times for it. This is definitely one of our go to spots. The cashier was very kind and apologized and said it normally takes 5 minutes, but they're busy, so it's going to take 10 minutes...Um, that's okay!! An apologetic 10 minute wait is perfectly fine! :) But, it still ends up coming out in 5!
