Chicken pho
Saysamon M.

This is usually my go to place for chicken pho. Located on first and McKinley in what is dubbed "The Pho District". However I went on Halloween night and the recipe has somehow changed. What was once so flavorful is now giving heavier hints of ginger. Don't get me wrong, it was still delicious but not like it was. I hope it wasn't a change in recipe or cooks. The service was very good this time , I do take out, so I usually just pay and go however the person ringing me up was so nice and chatted with me. For 2 large chicken pho i paid $30, great portion with lots of shredded chicken breast included. Will try again

Pho is amazing! They load it with a lot of meat, noodles, and the size of the bowls match their prices. Chow fun is loaded enough seasoning, and eggrolls were delicious.

Two small chicken pho and 1 shrimp spring roll with extra peanut sauce ordered. The worker was nice and said okay, bye after it was ordered. I went in to pick it up. A little language barrier. Cold inside. Lots of tables and chairs. People eating outside at tables too. The order wasn't ready yet. Waited after paying for it. Didn't feel the most comfortable waiting. It was handed over a bit later and got out of there. Lunchtime! Got everything set up! The chicken Pho was really good! Chicken cooked good! Fresh veggies and tasty noodles! Really liked the super hot peppers in it. The spring roll was good too! Fresh & tasty with good peanut sauce! Mother said hers was good! Okay service but, luckily, the food was really good!

The food here was great and so was the service. The ambiance not so great. It is clean and decorated but from the outside it looks like a place you probably would not want to eat at. There is plenty of seating inside. I think this place is really known for their pho. I ate vegetable soup the day before so I wasn't feeling like soup again but next time I will definitely order the pho.

Hit the spot and open late. Needed the recovery after a long weekend. Not the best, but you can't beat the time frames for late night needs. Water is infrequent, no vegetarian options if that's what you're looking for. We had gotten a steak pho, roast duck pho, and egg rolls cuz something fried. Compatriot enjoyed the steak pho, the roast duck was a bit oily and mostly bone as opposed to meat for the pieces. A little chewy as well for what was there. The egg rolls were nice and crunchy when they came out. Good for what it is, and here fits the bill for certain situations. The recovery was real for sure so this was a good respite at the time.

I was craving Pho after a hard long shift, I get off pretty late and this place opens till 11pm so ... It was right up my alley. I ordered the #3 combo, service was fast and friendly, broth was tasty everything was perfect except my pho didn't include tendon, so I asked them to include it, I didn't know that it would cost me an extra $7.50 (yikes) anyways, I ended up eating a 20 dollar small pho that night and even though $$ pricey it was delicious. My recommendation from now on is ask how much for add-ons before you order them lol. This place was pretty busy for being so late, so I'll be going back during the day and enjoy another dish from their menu soon.

One of the only places open after 10 pm, good pho, large portions, meh service. Spring roll - good, tender shrimp, no mint leaves, chewy rice paper and pho noodles, some of the greens in it looked wilted though Regular combination pho - huge portion, lasted me 2 meals. Seems like a large to me, not sure how ppl finish the large bowl. Soup is on the greasy side. I asked for no cilantro but there was still cilantro in it. Some of the meat is too fatty which adds to the greasy soup. The noodles are good. Service is meh, the workers don't seem to speak that much English but the food is served fast.

This simple plate always makes me happy.

Excellent day for pho and lemongrass chicken rice plate. The service here was quick as usual. Hot bowl of pho and steamy chicken rice plate always hitting the spot on a nice day like this.

Extra goodies in your food.

But since we were dinning in I decided to try their Steak and Eggs with the bread. It was sooooooo good. The warm bread was crunchy on the outside and nice and soft in the inside. The eggs and meat came out on a sizzling try. There were two sunny side up eggs, thick cut of sweet/salty/tender marinated beef, small mushrooms, and pate on top. Paired with the bread this was a very comforting and delicious dish. The Nam Nuong rolls were good. Good portion of fillings and great crunchiness of the eggrolls wrappers and thick cut of the nam Nuong pork. I was only disappointed in the sauce. It was good but lacking depth of flavors. I think my expectation was it go be like the ones at Brodard's. And it wasn't. Located in the back corner, it can be a little hard to find parking if it gets busy but there is also the side parking lot. There was a wait list but we waited in line at the to go counter to ask to be seated. We were given our water and ordered. Once the food was dropped off we weren't checked up on again but this didn't bother us and you pay at the counter afterwards. The place had a lot of seatings with some seatings outside. There were tv playing Vietnamese food channels that was cool. I didn't get anything from their huge options of drinks and Che this time though. Looking forward to doing so next time. If you haven't tried this place, I would highly recommend their Vietnamese sandwiches with extra pate and butter.

Wanted to give this place a shot because it's close to my new work place and really enjoy it!…read more It's attached to the Tea Shop, which you have to walk through first to get to the restaurant. You'll then have to wait to be seated at the register. I think this set-up is kind of awkward but hey, at least they have cute sidewalk seating. There are plenty of tables and long benches to sit at and the restaurant itself feels clean and well-lit! The staff are super helpful also. Tried the House Special Beef Pho and it was pretty tasty! You do have the option to order your dish with regular thin noodles, flat noodles, or egg noodles. The broth is basil-y and the flavor has great depth. They have a self-serve station for condiments where you can grab some chili oil, jalapeños, bean sprouts, and lime. My favorite thing about this restaurant is that I don't feel too bloated after eating here (compared to other pho restaurants). Been enjoying this restaurant and eating here at least once a week!

My memory is shot. I don't want to be handing out 5 stars so easily but I think they deserve it. The restaurant is very clean, and I love the little Asian lanterns they have, all different, above each table. Plenty of seating. When we got there (a little after 5), there was only one other table occupied... by the time we left (6:30), every table was nearly taken. Our waitress, as well as the other on the floor, were both very welcoming and friendly. They handled the service remarkably as a team. The fact that they were a packed house and still were very attentive with us, checking how we're doing, checking on our water refills... these are the little things I appreciate most (and, of course, good food). I got the Pho with the Fatty Brisket, my friend got just the Steak Pho. They have a bar against the wall with all garnishes you may need to grab what you'd like. This is pretty smart... It saves them from waste. Instead of giving people items they may not use-- they would just grab what they'd like themselves. My friend grabbed her goodies, I prefer mine as is. To me, if your broth is good and doesn't require me to flavor it... I'll eat it just like that (unless I feel like adding spice). I've only ever been to a few other Pho places where I had to season up the broth myself...definite no no for them. All my friends who have gone out to eat Pho with me know I eat it just how I get it. Pho from my Mama is a different story though... I put the works (not because it's not flavorful) but, it's just different. Moving on... They also have a Teazona in their establishment. I've tried a few different drinks in the past but came to regularly deciding on the Tiramisu Milk Tea (no flan for me, light boba). Make sure to shake it well. You can also let them know your preference on the level of sweetness. We both got this tonight and it nearly tipped me over on the full scale. Couldn't finish it. Everything was really good though. Pho was the perfect choice for this weird, gloomy weather we've been having. The price is a bit up there but that seems to be the norm everywhere nowadays. But-- for the portion, the quality, and the service? Worth it.

This pho has a deep, rich, and flavorful broth, with a generous amount of meat. Our server encouraged us to melt some of the marrow into the broth, resulting in a silky and decadent soup. Ordered pork chop, hot tea and pho with marrow which I have already reviewed. Pork chop and sauce is a number two seller directly behind the pho. When I want a pork chop, I want it moist, and the fat crispy and salted and seasoned well. This hit every single mark! I normally care that I am in a restaurant and don't chew on bones. I did not have one care in the world and picked up my pork chop bone and chewed every single crispy morsel of caramelized goodness from that bone. The sauce that accompanies the pork, rice and egg was slightly sweet and was the perfect balance to dip rice and pork into! It was light and bright and enhanced the flavors not overpowering them. The egg. It is surprising how many places can't cook an egg where the yolks natural fatty goodness isn't overcooked. I busted the yolk and let it drip all over my rice mixing it in to give the perfect amount of salt and fat mixed with the swing pork and sauce! It was a perfectly delicate bite filled with different textures! I will definitely order this again! The hot tea is made with natural herbs in it and not a cheap paper tea bag like other places. It is very simple, mild tea that is easy on the tongue and the belly. I enjoy my pot of hot tea every time I come! Thanks again for a day filled with excellent customer service and phenomenal food! Located in the Barnyard shopping center this Vietnamese restaurant is a little dated, but don't let the decor deter you. The food is in incredible! I ordered a large bowl with thin sliced meat balls along with spring rolls for the table. First off, I should've gotten a small bowl of pho, the large bowls here are massive. I had plenty of leftover for the next day and the day after! The broth was delicious with deep rich flavors and the noodles were slightly al dente, which I loved. I couldn't help myself and active point picked up my bowl and just started sipping the broth. My wife ordered the same thing as I, minus the meatballs and she too, could not get over how much flavor the broth had, almost like they had been slow cooking this for the past three days straight. The spring rolls were 100% handmade and the filling inside was delicious. We did bring our kids with us and we're definitely nervous because they are very picky eaters. They do offer a kids menu, but there isn't much to it. It's basically rice broth and your choice of meat. We ordered my 4-year-old daughter a small bowl of rice with broth and chicken; she loved this and kept asking for more! My son (7) went big and ordered pho with squid... he inhaled everything! Even asking if we could order more squid on the side to which we did and he ate that as well. This was huge win for mom and dad, now we can do pho to the family dining out rotation. This is a family own restaurant and the staff here is incredibly friendly and helpful. Branden, our server, help to answer any questions and was very attentive to make sure we had everything we needed!
