I've always walked by Pho88 but never got the chance to try it until a friend suggested to go saying the addition of sate to your pho bowl stepped up the pho-game. I got the pho dac biet (special) and he got the pho with sate. They only have small and regular sizes which is a step down from other Viet restaurants which have large but I appreciated the regular size. It came after 10-15 minutes with the tray of side veggies. Reading older reviews, I saw a common complaint was that the broth is oily. And yes, the broth is very oily (see photo, glistening oil on the surface)- you can feel it coat your lips. The sate broth was even oilier. I rate the meal 3/5 because I prefer a cleaner and more flavourful broth but if you like an oilier broth, perhaps you'll like Pho88! read more

Pho 88 - Pork bahn mi sliders - Vietnamese Near Me - Toronto, Ontario

I ordered a vermicelli bowl with grilled pork and spring roll for take out. Portion size was small for $13 which is slightly more expensive than other places. It seemed pretty average but not stellar. I wish there were more veggies like lettuce and bean sprouts (none included whatsoever). I liked the noodles but again there wasn't much. I didn't like how they did not include cutlery which was annoying because I had to find my own fork. They should have included chopsticks and napkins like every other delivery place. The take out espresso with condensed milk was nice though and I liked how it was in a bubble tea wrapped sealed container so no spillage could happen! I also appreciated the plastic wrapped straw. Overall good packaging and good coffee, but the vermicelli bowl was average. read more

Their Phõ is alright. A little on the sweeter side alone. I'm very much used to having it a lot more tangy but after not having pho for a couple of years (8) I was in a desperate craving. I ordered the P06 which is with beef and tripe. I liked it for the most part. They do give you extra of limes should you require it. The place is quite spacious and open concept and the gentleman working was very nice. Knowing me, I would definitely return but maybe to try something new on their menu. read more

We went to Pho 88 after a day at the Toronto Ex. Pho 88 is a nicely decorated Vietnamese restaurant. The service was friendly, but rushed. The restaurant was half full on Saturday night. I ordered the grilled beef and pork with rice. My friend ordered pork and chicken with rice. We started with the fried spring rolls. The spring rolls was okay. It was full of peanuts. Not much flavor. My beef pork rice dish was good. But I only wish the pork chop was larger. It was tasty and full of flavor. My friend was happy with his chicken pork rice dish. He said that it was tasty. Would we go back? Maybe, since we like Vietnamese food. read more

Last night we had dinner here and it was fantastic. My boyfriend ordered a chicken pho soup, which he really liked and I ordered the Tom yum Soup. I was really impressed that they could make the Tom Yum soup gluten and dairy free. It was the perfect combination of sweet, sour and spicy. It was a nice warm soup and I actually liked it more than the chicken pho broth (I didn't try the noodles since I didn't know if they were gluten free). I found the pho broth to be really salty but my boyfriend said it was just what he needed to help him get over his cold. Would I Return? Absolutely! read more

I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of meat (insert funny comment) of the regular bowl (in comparison to ones that I've had in Brooklyn) - I got the number 2. The cuts of meat were pretty thick and though the soup seemed more salty than brothy, it worked for me. The place was airy with bench-like seats and didn't seem like a typical Pho place. The wash rooms were located through a door that lead downstairs and looked like a sketchy alleyway, but they were nice, clean and individual. I wasn't wow'ed, but the warm soup was what I needed on my chilly evening in Toronto. I'd check the place out again if I'm in the area. read more

I got delivery from Pho88 so I can't speak to their in-restaurant experience. I got the shrimp fresh rolls and the pork meatballs and shrimp bun. The shrimp fresh rolls tasted fine but it was wrapped very loosely and fell apart- most Vietnamese restaurants do a better job at wrapping. The dipping sauce was also missing something- maybe it was too light on salt or in peanut flavour. The bun itself was fine, and the pork meatballs and shrimp was actually good, but the fish sauce vinaigrette that it came with fell short. Since this dish is usually covered with the fish sauce, I could taste that every bite was just mediocre. Probably won't be ordering from here again. read more

We stopped for dinner and had a very nice meal. We started with some cold shrimp spring rolls, you know the kind with the rice noodles and lettuce in the soft rice paper, very good. The peanut sauce was a bit strange though, taste was good but the texture was off for me, maybe like it had been made from a powder and not quite dissolved completely. We also had the Chinese broccoli in garlic sauce, also very tasty, though it might test your chopstick skills. For mains we had some pho (rare beef and flank), vermicelli noodles (BBQ pork and spring rolls), and chicken fried rice. Both the pho (great broth, nice meat, nice noodles) and vermicelli were very good. The rice was decent but nothing amazing, don't think I would bother getting it next time. The staff was nice. The restaurant has an industrial design with exposed brick and pipes throughout. It was super clean and has some nice music piped throughout (maybe a bit in the loud side). Overall a very nice meal, would be happy to come back again. read more

Their rare beef pho was good but a bit too salty for me. Small size is cheap and very filling. Has some kick to it too. They only accepted debit and cash when I went so that's good to be aware of.... Overall, nice spot and good vibes. 3-stars is because of salty pho and their service was a bit slow. read more

I had the rare beef pho and my bf got the vermicelli. He enjoyed his dish. The pho broth was a little weak but the chilli pepper sauce, sriracha sauce, and garnishes all made it very enjoyable. The temperature of the pho was perfect. A lot of places often serve the broth room temperature. The beef cooked well throughout. Overall I would come back again. I loved the layout. The music was cool. read more

Can't help but wonder how long until somebody sues them for most likely the world's slipperiest floor, ever. They should rent out ice skates at the entrance, might be a better alternative to the tile that they laid. The first time I went to Pho 88, I enjoyed it. Tonight I got an almost $12 meal, with very likely the worst cuts of chicken I've ever seen, they charge quite a bit for maybe a quarter of a chicken breast, including gristle skin and bone. Lazy kitchen, awful experience. Enough to not make me want to return. read more

Really the worst Tom Yum soup I've ever eaten. Not traditional at all and not even the correct flavour. I should have known when the only option was to have it with tofu or chicken - no shrimp. It had some celery, mostly carrot and a mushroom and some green pepper, hot pepper and that was it other than a fair bit of chicken pieces (that weren't anything to write home about). Tiny 500 ml container for $8. I don't mind paying that for real Tom Yum soup but for this it was a total rip off. There are tons of Pho places in the city so I definitely won't go back. Oh how odd I just looked at their menu online and it states that shrimp is available for the Tom Yum soup yet they said only tofu or chicken. Oh well, thankfully I didn't get that as then it'd have been a $10 plus soup! read more

Amazing restaurant great staff But please please please get rid of that white annoying lady. read more

Zero vegetarian options. I requested something simple..rice with some veges. The waitress said no problem. Came back 15min later the chef couldn't do that. I mean how hard is it to do that??? Very poor business model. I had been to this place before and had a wonferful stirfry they created. The manager informed me they are working on several vegetarian options. This was months ago. Looks like they lost a costumer, permanently. read more

The food took incredibly long to get. The waiter gave us a hard time for taking a few more napkins. He also talked to us from across the room. He didn't even look at us when we paid, we said thank you but they did not even care enough to notice us. This is our first time in Toronto, traveling with 3 kids. Their Pho was bad, tasted like water, it's worst than the Instant Pho from 99cents from the State. Their knifes was dirty. Will never be back. Rude people read more

Did not live up to its standards. The food was not authentic and the peanut sauce was disgusting. The one lady that was working was talking/swearing on her phone loudly and was speaking very politically. At this point I just wanted to leave. I do not recommend whatsoever. read more

I've always loved the food I've tried there, the portion sizes are large and it's very tasty. I had the chicken on vermicelli. I love their spring rolls! The milkshakes are tasty too. Dining in the restaurant was okay, the staff was friendly but I found the chopsticks and other things on the table were pretty dusty. The place could use some TLC and I think if they stepped it up a bit it could be great. They only accept debit and cash. read more

Got the regular pho. It was ok. Kinda salty. Saltiness overpowers the flavour. Portion is also kind of small compared to other pho places and also slightly more expensive. They don't give a lot of beef or noodles. I would only come again if we didn't feel like travelling far. read more

One of the best broth based soups I have had, the tendon and tripe are very good. The meat that is used is high quality. The restaurant itself is very sparse, but nice, and the location is great. read more

I am sooooooooo addicted to this place!!!! They even have a location in North York so I'm still in heaven when im up that way. Might even go again today!!! read more

Pho 88 has mastered the balance between sitdown pho and quick service. Waiters take your order and bring the pho to the table. The utensils, sauce, and napkins are set up on the side so you take out as many as you need. I ordered the all-meat and seafood phos when I went, both were pretty good. I would say the upside to Pho 88 is that you can sit down in a well-decorated spot and have some hot soup. The amount of meat/seafood in each soup was decent, though there lacked an abundance of vegetables for my taste. When it's cold and you're in the annex you can stop by pho88 for an adorable bite. read more

It was fantastic. Thought I would try something new tonight and glad I found this place. We will order again for sure.

I ordered soup, I found plastic parts in my soup. Enough said, maybe it was a mistake but things like this shouldn't happen. I would never go there again read more

The food here is slightly below average. Nothing we had was good. The mains were tasteless and the spring rolls tasted like raw uncooked flour. They remade them but that didn't solve the rawness inside the spring roll. We were told it was authentic and the owner came and said she used to live in Vietnam and that's how they are made. While I never lived in Vietnam, but visiting as a mere tourist specifically for a food destination, I can just say yuck and yuck for Toronto! I was offered a refund for the rolls but declined because I was made to feel I was in the wrong. There are alot better, esp for Toronto. read more
