Now this review is solely based on my experience eating their beef pho. As of this post, they had a promotion for any beef pho priced at $15.99 for $11.99, so I couldn't resist trying it out. I ended up getting the beef pho with tendon and it was decent. The soup base was a little salty, can't complain about the beef and tendon either. The pho noodles were great. Service was quick and friendly, but they seemed to be understaffed. Place is a bit small and it didn't help that they put out a hot pot burner in case you want to order their specialty. Overall I would rate this place 3.5/5 and would consider trying it out if there was a Special for the day. read more

I think their food is not bad! Ordered two dishes for takeout given the 40% off promotion on ubereats which seems like a great deal. Ordered a Bangkok pad Thai and a rice with grilled chicken, pork and a fried spring roll. And all in was less than $25. The portion was pretty good in a deeper takeout box. First the Bangkok pad Thai, I opted for this one because it got more likes on ubereats review than the regular pad Thai. I think it's an ok dish. A bit greasy and the sauce wasn't mixed well with the noodles so I could see some noodles was lighter color. In terms of the taste, I really don't know what it was, no spice, not spicy, maybe just some dark soy sauce for the color? Noodles portion was generous but there's only a few pieces of shrimps, some bell pepper, bean sprout and green onion. I'd rather they give some chicken and tofu. I may not order this dish again I think Thai express pad Thai would be more flavorful than this one. As for the rice with grilled chicken, pork, and deep fried spring roll, it's a much better dish. The chicken and pork are very flavorful with lemongrass, and spring roll still a bit crispy despite being a takeout and it's very stuffed. Just wish they cut the meat better especially the chicken it's too big a piece. But much better dish than the Bangkok pad Thai. Overall I think it was a good deal to try out this place, I wonder how their pho would taste after all it's a Vietnamese restaurant. Solid 3.5 star. read more

I thought I was in the wrong place when I first walked in because despite the prominent "Pho" in the restaurant's name, literally every single table there was having hot pot. Perhaps that's their new speciality, because we found the pho to be just mediocre. The broth was a little overly salty (hmmm...msg anyone), although the portion of noodles was huge. I ordered the chicken rice noodle soup and the meat was so dry I had trouble swallowing it. Service was pretty ordinary, but quite fast. The place is on the small side so expect a squeeze and a fair amount of noise. The cleanliness level was acceptable but could definitely be improved upon. Overall, given the prices, it was not a terrible experience but I don't see myself becoming a regular here. read more

Support small and local businesses. This Pho place is not bad at all. Happy about making a trip there for an early lunch. Seems like a popular place. Several tables were there before noon. A few Uber guys already waiting for takeouts. It's a good sign. The pho bowl soup base is pretty tasty. Only one size is available: Large. Unlike some of the reviews mentioned, I find the pho portion is definitely a LARGE and I'm not a small eater just so you know. Suggest sharing one pho bowl with two people. Leave room for other tasty dishes. They are reasonably good on their menu. Spring rolls are not bad either. Crunchy, good temperature, not oily at all. Good fish sauce to give you a punch. Pretty authentic. The highlight of today would be the Oyster Egg Pancake. Nicely pan-fried to a good crisp on the egg crust. Oysters still maintain a great seafood texture. OMG! This is a must-have if you visit this pho place. Try it! Lastly, iced coconut coffee. Shredded coconut, intense coffee flavor, top it up with whipped cream. Very delightful and made to great satisfaction. Mind you it's also quite filling. No problem to treat it as a drink or a dessert. Either way is good. Decent ambiance, friendly service, and plenty of free parking. We had a pretty enjoyable lunch there. However, there was only one server to run the entire show at lunchtime. Some waiting was expected. Just to make sure you are not in a hurry in order to enjoy the nice food there. Overall, 4.5 rounded up to 5 stars because of a little bit of waiting. Considering the food quality, authenticity, PORTION, server friendliness, and reasonable prices. I honestly think this is a great pho soup place with a good selection on its menu. My dine-in experience here is very positive. Not all eateries are good for takeout as the delivery time could certainly ruin the taste, crispiness, and food texture. Checked out La Pho today. The positives - the pho was really yummy and came with a good amount of meat. Our waitress was also very attentive and friendly. However, a few negative points - the basil was not fresh. I like to put a lot of basil in my pho, but I didn't end up putting any in. Also, you only have the option to order a large bowl of pho. I shared my pho with my daughter so it worked out in that sense. However, it would've been a lot for one person to eat, but you don't have any other option to order a smaller size. Came here for a dinner and tried their pho menu. They also had a hotpot menu but we weren't ready to eat so much food for dinner. Ordered their cooked brisket pho and a pork salad vermicelli. Both dishes for us were very average and there might be some msg. It was very tasty to say the least but the quality of the produce used was not the greatest. The beef in the noodle soup was very, very fatty. So fatty that I chose not to eat any. The noodles were also overdone. The vermicelli uses thick noodles as opposed to their competitors in the area. I liked that they gave us two fish sauces without having to ask but the pork gave off a very porky flavour. Overall, I do not think we will return. The pricing is average and food didn't really stand out. The service was excellent though, so I decided to give this restaurant 3 stars. read more

Ordered through Ubereats and got the special pho dac biet, the vermicelli bowl with grilled pork, pork skin and imperial roll, along with a fresh shrimp roll. When I first opened the bag, a big waft of fish sauce just hits you in the face. mr. Tran refuses to use the fish sauce given to us and used the one I made (I always have a batch of homemade fish sauce in the fridge). The pho dac diet had all the meats cooked already, which I found odd, but the soup broth was just okay. Nothing spectacular. The fresh shrimp roll looked like it was missing two more pieces. It only came in 4 bite size pieces for some reason, and they supplied not the peanut sauce, but the stinky fish sauce. The vermicelli bowl had a lot of noodles and very little meat and pork skin. Worst of all, we were missing the deep fried spring roll! Don't plan on ordering here again. read more

But there wasn't actually much noodles, to the point where we had to order extra. The soup base was just way too salty. Spring rolls were decent. There's really not much we could say about it except that the shrimp was big. Vietnamese coffee was also a little on the sweeter side, which if you paired it with the hot pot, it actually was a bit refreshing since the soup was just too strong and salty. We went for a lunch on a weekend so the place was quite packed. There was only one server for the whole place (poor woman) so it was natural that service was a bit slow and that shed would forget our add-on order of noodles. TLDR - I am torn about how to rate La Pho. Pro - all pho we ordered was good and big portion. Con - all pho came in size large, which was too big for me. There is no option to order a smaller size for a lower price. We ordered pho soup noodle and vermicelli (aka no soup). I found both had fresh ingredients. The soup tasted free of, or very little of, MSG. The portion was good; I doubt anyone would leave hungry. I like the quality of the food. What I have doubts on is the pricing strategy. All pho and vermicelli, and for that matter rice and other mains, come only in sized large and priced at $15. Size large is too big for me. The elderly who dined with me could barely finish half. I wish there is a size regular for a lower price. I really don't like packing pho as leftovers, so the surplus was wasted. I have no issue recommending La Pho per food quality, and to people with big appetites. If you don't have a big appetite, and you don't want to doggy bag pho, you could order the stir fried mains. read more

We ordered from this restaurant recently via Ubereats. Everything seemed to be packed well except that their plastic containers seem very prone to overheating and expanding. Food: Beef balls and brisket pho - both the brisket and beef balls was flavorful though not the particularly tender. The noodles were good and we got lots of bean sprouts and condiments. The broth was too salty and lacked that beefy flavorful. Putting it altogether though, it's not bad - 3.5/5. Bun Bo hue: The broth has a light tomato flavor to it, lots of lemon grass chunks and a hit of spice. There is congealed blood in the broth which may be a turn off to some, felt like a form tofu cube for the most part. Also comes with lots of condiments and round noodles. Decent amount of meat. 3.5/5. Size of each one is advertised as "large" but I felt like it was just regular size to me - didn't feel like it was more noodles or meat to justify calling it a large. Price: At regular price, it's more expensive by around 2$ for a lot other pho places in Scarborough. read more

Presentation of food was nice and we enjoyed the new experience. The soup is refillable so we opted to get the 2 person quantity and then ordered another item on side. You can always add extra add ons as well so didnt think we needed the 4 person for the table. Food was good, however, the service to me was poor. We got the hotpot and it was absolutely delicious! It was a very novel idea doing Vietnamese in hot pot form but it wasn't just a fun experience it was also incredible in flavour! Came here for lunch and really enjoyed our visit. Hubby and I shared a pho and fresh spring rolls; broth was so flavourful, we pretty much drank it up! There is no way we could have each finished a pho if we had ordered our own, but we have smaller appetites. The Vietnamese coffee was so yummy, I was still thinking about it the next day! Food was horrible and service equally bad! Don't be fooled by the pretty pictures and cleaned and bright interior. took my parents and daughter for lunch this afternoon and let's just say we will def not return and wanted to let everyone to stay away. We all ate at different times as my dad's noodles came first, when he was half way through, my moms noodles was ready. When both my parents finished their meal, mine came and then finally my daughters rice dish came. All of our beef noodles were made with a small amount of beef and a lot of fatty pork. When asked why we were serve pork, our server told us it's beef, that looks like pork. While we may not be food connoisseurs BUT we know the difference between beef and pork especially when eating Vietnamese pho. Oh and we are Vietnamese so we know what pho should taste like. We didn't argue since the server was a little flustered as she was the only one serving the entire restaurant of approx 6-7 tables. We were able to see that all the other tables were all eating their meals at different times, just like us. Other than the fact that we were serve pork for a beef meal, the dishes have no flavours. We went here as we noticed it's new and wanted to support new businesses. Needless to say, we won't return and want to warn others yo not go. HORRIBLE!. got there 6:20ish. had to wait due to booking was first. wait almost more then half an hour. Sat down, never got our water until we asked couple of times. we order right away @7 since we know we wanted to try the hotpot dish(3 ppl portion). While we waiting, we notice 3 tables around us havent even got their food yet or just got served one dish..... but they were sat down at least 20mins before us.. As time pass by to around 720pm another table of 6 of reserved walked in and sat down. at this point we still havent have any food on table(remind u we ordered at 7). the table behind order the same time as us, and they already started eating the hotpot. as 7:40pm approached the girl brought out another hotpot but head straight to the reserved which order wayyyyyyyyyyy after us. at that point i ask"why they got food and not us." the server said."they ordered first ...." but clearly they didn't.. at that point we stood up and walk away. service 2/10 - wait time too long. wait for water for 15 mins. go back ? - no way oh one thing .. we asked how long they open alrdy.. its been 2 MONTHS!!! seems like they never improve after 2 months sad read more
