absolutely delicious vegetable pho here! the vegetable broth is made with fuji apples - such a bold choice but completely delicious and complex flavor that was lightly floral and cozy. I couldn't get enough. sooo good and vegan friendly, highly recommend!!

    Best Vegetarian Pho!!!

I ordered a vegetarian Pho with hesitation having had poor experiences at other places. This is hands down, THE BEST veggie Pho I've ever had!! (No I'm not getting paid for the review!) The wait time was about 5 mins and the service was exceptional!!!

Best viet food I've had in DC and one of the best priced meals I've ever had in the city (DC is so expensive ). The pork vermicelli was great, authentic fresh flavors and super chewy noodles. The pork was also well seasoned and added great umami to the plate. Also got the try the Thai tea and Vietnamese coffee which were both bangers. If you need a little pick me up both are a super tasty treat depending on how tired you are!

I was looking for a pho place in DC on a rainy and cold day. I texted my friend and he recommended this place. So we hoped in our car and went there for lunch. Although the restaurant wasn't packed but we noticed they were getting tons of online or phone orders. They had so many deliveries constantly or people coming to pick up their food. Ambiance is decent. Nothing fancy about it. Small place in the Columbia Heights area. Staff was very nice. I ordered the combo with all the meat options and extra meat. The trick is to order extra meat ad you get so much meat for the next day as well. I love the beef broth and all the condiments that come with it. Everything smelled and tasted fresh. I squeeze a lot of lime in mine. And always add sriracha sauce to make it spicy. Price is nominal especially cause it's almost like I am paying for two meals. I think with the extra meat option it costs me $17. So worth it. I then ordered on DoorDash a couple of days later. Parking could be hard to find near this location. So if you can DoorDash or Uber eats then I recommend delivering option over dine in. They have very good packaging.

Pho 14 is located in Columbia Heights, about a 5-7 minute walk from the metro. I live close by and it is a restaurant I go to occasionally and bring friends when they are visiting from out of town (their pho is a great hangover cure!). During this visit I tried the vermicelli bowl with fried tofu and of course, a thai tea. Their thai teas are delicious, I definitely recommend. There are a lot of options here including many for vegetarians or pescatarians. Their pho is good, it is not my favorite in DC but it is decently priced and a large serving size. I would recommend the fresh garden rolls with shrimp and peanut sauce, it is my go to! Overall, I'd recommend this local restaurant. The service is fast, the staff are kind, and the spot is small and typically quiet in an area that is bustling.

Nothing really memorable about this place other than the way that it smelt. When I walked in and I was immediately hit with a smell of body odor. It was extremely unpleasant. I love gelatinous meats but for anyone that doesn't they would not like this soup. The top of it looks red as I did ask for extra spicy but it wasn't really spicy at all and the flavor was pretty mild. Not a lot of noodles for it to cost almost $20. It was warming on a cold day so I appreciate it for that aspect.

rainy weeks in DC have been calling for a bowl o' pho trying a new (to-me) carry out called "pho 14" in Columbia Heights feat. a create your own pho with chicken broth, fried tofu and a side of hoisin... OH so good side note: portion wasn't huge considering this was over $20

Before we even walked into the restaurant, we were informed that the left entrance door had been broken for quite some time. Since we had a double baby stroller with us, getting inside was a bit of a challenge and not exactly the best first impression. Overall Ratings Atmosphere - 3/5 Service - 3/5 Food - 3/5 Parking - Street Parking Atmosphere - The restaurant feels a bit old and dated and could probably use some updating. Interestingly, while the dining room definitely shows its age, the ordering system is modern and up to date. The contrast between the two was pretty noticeable. Service - Service was just okay. This is more of a casual setup where customers place their orders at the counter and the staff bring the food out when it's ready. There wasn't really anything memorable, either good or bad, about the service experience. What We Ordered - -Spring Rolls (Good) -Pho Dac Biet (Special Beef Pho) - The flavor was good overall, but the broth was only lukewarm when it arrived. A bowl of pho really needs to be piping hot, so this took away from the experience. -Grilled Pork Rice Plate - The pork was a bit too salty for my taste and was just okay overall. Final Thoughts - This was an average dining experience. The food was decent, the service was adequate, and the atmosphere was nothing particularly special. Nothing stood out enough to make me want to go out of my way to return, but I also wouldn't discourage others from trying it if they're already in the area. There are simply other Vietnamese restaurants nearby that I would be more inclined to visit first.

The standout for me is their spicy lemongrass pho - I had never tried anything like it before coming here, and honestly, it was kind of life-changing. It's like the perfect fusion of pho and bún bò Huế, with that rich, aromatic lemongrass flavor and a spicy kick that you can level up if you're feeling bold. It's one of those dishes I think about long after I leave. Of course, I had to get a Vietnamese iced coffee (cà phê sữa đá), and it did not disappoint. Super strong, perfectly sweet, and I love that you can actually watch it brew right at your table - it just adds to the whole experience. The vibe of the place is warm and homey, which makes it really easy to relax and enjoy your meal. The staff are always incredibly kind and welcoming too, which keeps me coming back just as much as the food does. If you're in the area and want something a little different from your usual pho order, this spot is 100% worth checking out.

I was overwhelmed by the size of the bowl at first but ended up finishing it because it was so tasty, but more than that, it was comforting on a cold day. There are many tables in the restaurant and it is much bigger than you realize when you first walk in. Our server was extremely helpful, both with choosing drinks and food. I chose the IPA from Brooklyn that I very much enjoyed. My friend selected the the Vietnamese beer that he liked a lot. The ladies enjoyed their wine, my wife chose the one from S. Africa. As this was our first visit, we decided to go with the tasting menu. It has various names as the chef includes different dishes. It includes an amuse bouche, several appetizers, entrees from fish, meat, and a vegetarian choice. I think my favorites of all were the stuffed leaf with wagyu beef and grilled bamboo. The bamboo was sweet and chunky, I had never eaten bamboo-it's great!. Everything we ate was excellent. The pacing of the meal was comfortable: we were able to enjoy each course without hurry but dinner didn't require a 2 1/2 experience. Our dessert was also very interesting with a combination of flavorful ice cream with other delectables. The price of the tasting menu was $95pp plus tax and 20% service already added. I highly recommend this for dinner. I've paid much more for a lot less in quality and quantity in the District.

The bowl I had, I believe was called "The Works", which included ALL the beef meats & parts such as bone-in rib, bone marrow, oxtail, sliced beef, beef shank, and beef meatballs. I rather not say how much it costs me, but it was well worth the money. I will say I wasn't a fan of how oily it was & they did not give enough noodles for such a massive bowl. But they were sweet enough to give me extra noodles to go without an upcharge, so I greatly appreciate that. This bowl lasted me at least 2 to 3 days for lunch because it was THAT massive.
