Best viet food I've had in DC and one of the best priced meals I've ever had in the city (DC is so expensive ). The pork vermicelli was great, authentic fresh flavors and super chewy noodles. The pork was also well seasoned and added great umami to the plate. Also got the try the Thai tea and Vietnamese coffee which were both bangers. If you need a little pick me up both are a super tasty treat depending on how tired you are!

I was looking for a pho place in DC on a rainy and cold day. I texted my friend and he recommended this place. So we hoped in our car and went there for lunch. Although the restaurant wasn't packed but we noticed they were getting tons of online or phone orders. They had so many deliveries constantly or people coming to pick up their food. Ambiance is decent. Nothing fancy about it. Small place in the Columbia Heights area. Staff was very nice. I ordered the combo with all the meat options and extra meat. The trick is to order extra meat ad you get so much meat for the next day as well. I love the beef broth and all the condiments that come with it. Everything smelled and tasted fresh. I squeeze a lot of lime in mine. And always add sriracha sauce to make it spicy. Price is nominal especially cause it's almost like I am paying for two meals. I think with the extra meat option it costs me $17. So worth it. I then ordered on DoorDash a couple of days later. Parking could be hard to find near this location. So if you can DoorDash or Uber eats then I recommend delivering option over dine in. They have very good packaging.

Pho 14 is located in Columbia Heights, about a 5-7 minute walk from the metro. I live close by and it is a restaurant I go to occasionally and bring friends when they are visiting from out of town (their pho is a great hangover cure!). During this visit I tried the vermicelli bowl with fried tofu and of course, a thai tea. Their thai teas are delicious, I definitely recommend. There are a lot of options here including many for vegetarians or pescatarians. Their pho is good, it is not my favorite in DC but it is decently priced and a large serving size. I would recommend the fresh garden rolls with shrimp and peanut sauce, it is my go to! Overall, I'd recommend this local restaurant. The service is fast, the staff are kind, and the spot is small and typically quiet in an area that is bustling.

rainy weeks in DC have been calling for a bowl o' pho trying a new (to-me) carry out called "pho 14" in Columbia Heights feat. a create your own pho with chicken broth, fried tofu and a side of hoisin... OH so good side note: portion wasn't huge considering this was over $20

Nothing really memorable about this place other than the way that it smelt. When I walked in and I was immediately hit with a smell of body odor. It was extremely unpleasant. I love gelatinous meats but for anyone that doesn't they would not like this soup. The top of it looks red as I did ask for extra spicy but it wasn't really spicy at all and the flavor was pretty mild. Not a lot of noodles for it to cost almost $20. It was warming on a cold day so I appreciate it for that aspect.

Southern veggie noodle soup - A large bowl of Vietnamese vegetable noodle soup with tofu, leafy greens, and broth, with chopsticks resting on the bowl, on a table with a salad and a bottled beverage.

Love this neighborhood pho/banh mi spot. $44 for TWO southern vegan beef/tofu noodle soups AND a foot long marinated tofu banh mi is a STEAL. And everything was really fresh, super hot broth even after the 10 min walk home. The texture of the vegan beef was on point and the noodles were perfectly cooked. Super nice service too. Go-to for pho in NW!

a bowl of soup and a spoon - A bowl of Vietnamese pho featuring noodles, carrots, bean sprouts, herbs, and broth, with a side of dark sauce in a small container.

A lovely base broth is made here. It's middle of the road in terms of flavoring and turns into a robust pho (Vietnamese soup). Pho is the only thing I've ordered here. It was voted Best Pho Restaurant by the Washington City Paper for three consecutive years, in 2010, 2011, 2012. Has it stood the test of time? Yes, I think so. It's family-run; they try hard and there's a good atmosphere. Management is doing the best they can in this godawful pandemic we're experiencing. I've only been doing take-out this past year. But, hey, this place is staying open-- gotta give 'em props for that. It's one of my go-to spots for pho.

Inside - A restaurant corner features Asian-inspired decor, including a hanging lamp, a stringed instrument on the wall, and potted plants, creating a traditional ambiance.

Husband and I were in the area. It was after lunch time where most places around DC/MD border were closed until dinner. Found this little restaurant in NW DC. Reasonably priced and busy for the time of the day. We got the summer rolls and chicken skewers. Very tasty and the dip for each appetizer - peanut sauce for the summer rolls and the Nuvo Cham fish sauce dip were well blended and delicious. Vietnamese crepe was something not most Vietnamese soup restaurants in our area offered so I had to try it. I picked shrimp as the meat. They cooked the shrimp with shell and tail on. The whole crepe was crispy and so tasty. I loved it! Now I will have to try find this dish in other viet resto closer to home and see how this compares. Loved the whole dining experience. Will definitely bookmark this as a favorite.

The standout for me is their spicy lemongrass pho - I had never tried anything like it before coming here, and honestly, it was kind of life-changing. It's like the perfect fusion of pho and bún bò Huế, with that rich, aromatic lemongrass flavor and a spicy kick that you can level up if you're feeling bold. It's one of those dishes I think about long after I leave. Of course, I had to get a Vietnamese iced coffee (cà phê sữa đá), and it did not disappoint. Super strong, perfectly sweet, and I love that you can actually watch it brew right at your table - it just adds to the whole experience. The vibe of the place is warm and homey, which makes it really easy to relax and enjoy your meal. The staff are always incredibly kind and welcoming too, which keeps me coming back just as much as the food does.
