Came on a Sunday morning. It was very busy and there was a wait but the wait was worth it. They seem to be understaffed but each item that came out was so delicious. This was our last spot to visit during our trip from DC and it really embodied the Bostonian hospitality, everyone was so generous and kind. Came with some colleagues for lunch on a weekday back when the weather was a little less snowy. There's outdoor seating, two smaller tables & one very large table with an umbrella. My friends and I sat at the larger table since there were 4 of us & we needed to spread for physical distancing. But the sandwich is definitely filled with flavour. Had a delicious brunch with friends from high school! We all got crêpes and some sort of drink. Though I didn't have one, my friends were literally in love with their ice coffees. The employees are so friendly and very helpful and kind. When it gets busy though, they might forget your drink order / it might take some time -- but all you have to do is remind them ! There wasn't much parking and it was hard to find a spot but not impossible. Will definitely be going back (and bringing more friends) to try all of their crêpes and beverages !! read more

I was very skeptical when ordering but the person ringing me up didn't even know the difference between the coffee with the condensed milk or the black coffee. She asked someone else who worked in the back to clarify. The coffee sua da (iced coffee with condensed milk) was pretty good and close to the Vietnamese version! I've been wanting to try Phinista for a while after hearing about them from a friend. I was super excited for a rose flavored coffee & had my eyes set for the Phin Rose. The coffee is strong & the sweetness was perfect. But I just couldn't taste the rose :( I was disappointed in the lack of rose flavor, especially with it being almost $6. Always my go to spot for banh mi!! Their banh mi is so so good and don't forget to try their bun bowls as well :) I also love their drinks. There was one time I was deciding if I should get milk tea or coffee, and then I found Phin 50/50 - which is the PERFECT mix of both of my favorite drinks. It absolutely tastes better than what I expected and I always get that when I go to Phinista now. Besides the owner is super nice!! We both loved our drinks and I could not stop staring at the perfect wall paper. The Phin 50/50 is half coffee half oolong, over 8ce it is a summer dream. They have Egg Coffee on the weekends, they mix egg Yolk with condensed milk to create a more custard coffee experience. If that wasn't enough the quality of the bbq chicken banh mi matched the Boston price point. If you have time to eat in and enjoy the atheistic this cafe spot is worth every penny! read more

When I first heard about the closing of the beloved Neighborhoods cafe, I had to take a moment to mourn its loss. However, once I finally visited Phinista, I realized that this change is a welcome one. While Phinista has a slightly different focus (Vietnamese coffee and bubble teas), they have maintained the essence of Neighborhoods. I was pleased to see the same floral wallpaper, soft white aesthetic, and the addition of more greenery and string lights. Additionally, they have many crepes on the menu- an ode to Neighborhoods? The friendly neighborhood-like feel that I would get from Neighborhoods cafe is hard to replicate; Phinista managed to still make me feel welcome and relaxed despite the challenges COVID brings. A friend and I came here on a weekday afternoon for coffee and a study session. There were still a couple tables out and socially distanced so we felt okay sitting and drinking our coffee, just as another group was at the other end of the shop. We all had our masks on except for when we were sipping our coffee, which made me feel more comfortable. What stood out to me was how nicely the staff handled kicking us out during closing! We didn't check the closing time and were engrossed in our work, so when it was around 4pm, we didn't realize that it was time to leave. However, the staff quietly began cleaning up at the nearby table. They didn't passive aggressively start cleaning or sweeping near our feet as other cafes do. However, we still were cued to leave, and the staff member cleaning near us told us that while they are technically closing at 4, we were welcome to stick around while they clean. It was such a polite and welcoming way of reminding us of the closing time, and we of course left right away. Onto the drinks! I've only had drinks during my 3 visits here- the Phin creme brûlée, the Phin mocha, and the berry matcha and creme with raspberry purée. They range from $4.50-$6, but they were all so good and definitely worth it compared to other overpriced basic coffees at other coffee shops. The creme brûlée latte came in a glass mason jar with homemade hardened caramel pre-drizzled on the inside of the jar. After filling the mason jar with the coffee, milk, and condensed milk, I was instructed to wait 2-5 minutes before drinking for the caramel to dissolve and provide a sweet flavor. It was so unique and delicious! Also, you pay a $1 deposit for the mason jar and if you bring back the jar you get your deposit back, otherwise you can keep the mason jar and it's only $1! The Phin mocha was solid too, but I think I prefer the creme brûlée. The berry matcha and creme gives you the choice of strawberry, raspberry, or blackberry purée to be layered with the matcha latte. I chose raspberry and thought it paired well with the earthy matcha, but the seeds were very annoying to drink. The matcha was very strong and earthy, not watered down with the milk at all. I loved it. All the drinks are very pretty too- good for the gram! read more

Also has a black milk tea, which I really didn't like... The tea flavor was super strong and a bit off tasting. I like my coffee black and boring but damn if I don't love lavender. That being said, the Phin Lavender at Phinista buttered my biscuits. I am not going to say the Phin Lavender is right for everyone but Phintsta will likely have something that is right for you. Their drink menu is well sized and diverse; the Milk n' Tea (specifically Milk n' Rose) was delightful. Alongside the wide array of drinks Phinista has a wonderfully unique food menu. I would say the sweet crepes and pastries are similar to a trampoline park; they are pretty simple but damn if it isn't fun to experience them. It's not the best sweet crepe or pastry shop in the Boston area, and the crepes and pastries shouldn't be the only reason you come to Phinista but it is a unique and tasty addition to the menu. The Banh Mi is good, very good. On a scale from 1 to 13.6 I would give the Banh Mi at Phinista a 12. What hurt the Banh Mi's score: the bread. I dissect my sandwiches, what I consider a sandwich autopsy, whenever I find them to be less than a perfect 13.6/13.6. The sandwich fillings were good and well portioned in my opinion but the baguette did not taste fresh and was just too much. Some people like bread heavy sandwiches but I usually don't; in my opinion the bread masked the incredible fusion of flavors that are held in the fillings. To summarize, the drinks are 7/7, a perfect score; the sweet crepes and pastries are basically the small cafe equivalent of having a trampoline park for customers out back; and the Banh Mi receives a 12/13.6. Phinista is knocking on the door of glory and I fully intend to return. P.S. I was served by wonderfully kind/friendly people on all of my visits to Phinista thus far, so, service is a perfect 27/27. read more

So I happened to see the ad on Boston Night Market couple days ago gushing about the ube lava cake and I'm like, I gotta try this. So I went google about the shop and found out it just opened couple weeks ago and Fav reviews. I just couldn't wait any longer so I took my daughters there today. Drinks are really good, my kids got fruits teas and they're similar to the LRoom in NYC which they loved. I got cafe rose which pretty interesting flavor to the coffee.
