Custom special for the boy

Talk about the best Philly is my go-to spot. As someone born and raised in Philly, I can recommend the sandwiches 100%. When I bite into that juicy steak, it brings me back home. Thanks, Philly.

Mushroom Cheesesteak (l) and Philly's Best Cheesesteak (r)

I'm so happy that we live by a Philly's best. They're friendly and helpful with suggestions. Food is always served piping hot and fresh. We normally eat in and it's clean. The hubby loves their food, reminds him of Philly. He gets the mushroom cheesesteak and I get the Philly's best. But don't forget the ketchup and the side of pickles :) I get the fries and nomnomnom. Plenty of parking, right next to coffee bean.

Great place for an authentic philly cheese steak sandwich, eating in, surrounded by a mom'n'pop atmosphere, even though it is a chain. Didn't realize how many Philly's Best sandwich shops there are in Southern California, 19 now per their website (which has a nice writeup about their history), with the first one being founded in Fountain Blue, CA in 1992 . Its popularity must be more than customers that are just Philadelphia transplants. Plenty of parking at this strip mall location, and the place was empty when we came past the lunch rush on a Friday afternoon. It's menu does contain both hot and cold sandwiches. It's a fast food set-up where you stand in-line to peruse the menu sign, then placing and paying for your order. There is a self-serve soda fountain with Coke products, so got a fountain soda ($2.99). The sandwiches are made after your order, so it took about 10 minutes for my name to be called. Went up to grab the sandwiches, and was offered hot peppers and pickles. Was really glad that I said 'Yes'. The thing about regional sandwiches, is they usually grew from local, inexpensive ingredients that could be supplied year round. I've learnt that bread from Amoroso Bakery in Philadelphia is a must for an authentic cheesesteak, and that it's a steak sandwich not a beef sandwich. It's supposed to use quality beef cut meant for steak (like ribeye)...this is very different than our favorite regional Chicago Italian beef, which intentionally uses the toughest cuts of beef, braised very slowly. -- Classic Cheesesteak ($11.49) - beef, bread, cheese. That's all my wife will eat on her hot (never cold) sandwich, and this is exactly what they provide here. -- Philly's Best ($12.49) - always got to get the sandwich that's named after the restaurant itself, right? This also didn't disappoint. The white american cheese had been melted to produce that sticky goo that binds the meat to the bread, to make the eating of the sandwich relatively clean. The cheese is a must here. And the 'steak' meat is very good. Plus the vinegary peppers and pickles helped cut through the richness of the sandwich. I loved this sandwich. -- Cheese fries ($4.99) - really well fried french fries, topped with a generous amount of cheese whiz. I would bet you could ask to replace the cheese on the sandwich with cheese whiz instead (which is a perfectly acceptable version of a cheesesteak). We devoured these. The place is decorated not nearly as much with Philadelphia merch as I was expecting. Maybe the original sandwich shop in Fountain Blue is much more obnoxious with their pride....my personal experience is that Philadelphia sports fans are not shy about their favorite teams, no matter if they are in enemy territory or not. Of course, this is a franchise location...wonder if as a franchise owner, you are REQUIRED to show Philly sports memorabilia on the walls? Was impressed with the value, considering the ingredients and the need to import some pieces from far away. Pretty confident that a sandwich with these ingredients from a non-chain restaurant would be at least 50% more, or be a lot smaller in size/volume. Heck, it compares very well with the cheesesteak sandwich from Jersey Mike's in terms of value, and this is a much better sandwich.

A cheesesteak without cheese? That is what happened to tonight's takeout order. We ordered chicken cheesesteaks online, but substituted provolone for white American cheese, in addition to grilled onions. Once we began eating our sandwiches, we discovered they were completely devoid of grilled onions, and there were only minimal mushrooms, no bell peppers, and no cheese. A call was made, but there was no answer (a message was left). We were hungry, so we ate the dry, cheese-less cheesesteak sandwiches. We have always enjoyed what we received from here, so we hope this was just a bad night for someone there and not a reduction in their quality control.

Philly cheesesteak salad. Really good!!

If you're avoiding carbs but craving a Philly Cheesesteak this is your place! They've got cheesesteak salads that totally satisfied my craving! It's off the traffic circle with plenty of parking. Staff were kind of grumpy but that seems to be the case for every Philly's Best so it's expected. Rest of my group got traditional Philly's with fries and were all happy. Definitely be back since the location closest to me went under few years ago.

The food is great and excellent customer service from the staff. The ambience of the restaurant brings you closer to Philadelphia feeling.

Good Philly style cheesesteaks in SoCal. Not quite as good as Philly, but hard to get them out here so Philly's Best is a suitable option.

Immediately upon walking in you…read moresmell the delicious pastries, and we saw them filling up the pastry case with beautiful croissants in really unique flavors. Their drink menu and breakfast menu had so many great options. The highlight of this meal and even our entire trip was their bulgogi breakfast burrito. It has eggs and tater tots and comes with a really tasty guacamole sauce, and pico de gallo. Even without the accoutrements, the bulgogi meat itself was so flavorful and really made that burrito shine. I had the breakfast croissant benedict for myself and the croissant was so fresh and flaky. The two eggs were poached perfectly and the egg yolk was so rich. They used the same croissant for our kids breakfast croissant meal, which they devoured! They have the really good fries here too. My husband's ube latte was definitely my favorite of our two drinks. The cantaloupe jasmine tea is from the seasonal menu. I enjoyed it at first, but then after a while, it just had a weird aftertaste possibly coming from the cantaloupe. I wish I had gone for one of my other choices, but I'm happy that I tried something unique at least. Would definitely come back here again if we are in the area so I can try some more food!

I went for the ube matcha while my wife was looking for a Spanish latte, but we ended up ordering breakfast--and it completely won us over. Now, it's easily our favorite breakfast spot in the area! The food has been fantastic every single time. I always lean toward their savory or sweet pancakes, but their croissant eggs benedict is an absolute game-changer. As a huge eggs benedict fan, having it served on a flaky croissant was completely unique and executed to perfection. The drink menu is massive and has something for everyone, featuring a ton of great coffees, matchas, and specialty options. Don't forget to check out the incredible selection of baked goods right at the front desk when you walk in, either. It clearly feels like a wonderful family-run business, and the service matches the warmth and quality of the food. We've already been back three or four times and can't wait to return to keep working our way through the menu. Highly recommended!

If you're looking for a spot with great atmosphere, a trendy vibe, and beautiful décor, this is definitely it. My favorite time to go is on the weekends for breakfast. I think they have some of the best breakfast options you'll find on 2nd Street. It's definitely a trendy, people-watching kind of place where you can enjoy the scene as much as the food. It's centrally located right in the heart of 2nd Street, directly across from Nick's. Between the stylish décor, lively atmosphere, and great location, it's just one of those places that has a really fun vibe.

I've been here a handful of times and I might be done. I wouldn't argue that the food is mediocre,…read morebut it's not great either. I've gotten fish and chips a bunch of times; sometimes the fish great--but sometimes it is slightly under-fried. Today I tried their fried chicken sandwich and it was not great. The menu described the sandwiches coming with pickled vegetables, but it was very plain. The brioche bun was great, but it's not the selling point. The fries oddly also always come with a teaspoon of ketchup. My biggest gripe is the service. I stopped by to have lunch with my mom. I ordered a soda before we placed our food order. While we looked over the menu, I took a few sips of the soda and finished it. My mom drank her water, and finished it. The server came back and took the order, the drinks were empty and never refilled. Whatever, NBD. However, 10 more minutes passed and I flagged down a different server and asked for a refill. (My server had disappeared). The food came out eventually, my drink was nearly empty again--no refill. The runner asked if I needed anything else after setting the food down and I again asked if I could grab a refill (the server still has not come back to the table). I looked around and he was chatting it up with a bartender leaning against the wall and giggling. Super annoying-- I'm glad the culture here means that the employees are friends and can talk and joke around. I don't need constant engagement, but you can't let drinks stay empty for lengthy periods of time. Half way done with the food, we still had empty drinks. Server never came back, runner never came back. Finished the food and sat for ten mins. Flagged down yet again another server and asked for the check. My server made his was over with the check--tips START at 25%, then 23%, then 20% Our lunch was about $70 (without the tip). This isn't McDonald's. The food was meh and the service was terrible. The cost did not make me feel like there was any value given the lack of attentiveness and quality of the meal.

Whether you're going for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, The Attic is one of those places that just has something special about it. It's one of the most unique, eclectic restaurants you'll find in Long Beach. And if you love cornbread, oh my God, you have to try theirs! It's warm, buttery, served with honey, and absolutely delicious. I'm telling you, it's worth going just for the cornbread. The breakfasts are great. The lunches are great. The food across the board is fantastic. The bartenders are great. The menu has plenty of variety, and the whole place just has this incredible vibe. Imagine trying to find the restaurant with the biggest personality on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles. That's basically The Attic. There's a certain energy to this place that's hard to describe. It's the same way Palm Springs has its own energy, or Melrose Avenue has a certain feeling you can't quite replicate anywhere else. The Attic has that kind of magic. And the best part? The food actually lives up to the atmosphere. The menu doesn't disappoint, the service is great, and the entire experience feels like something you won't find anywhere else. It is pet friendly which is also nice. Layout of the restaurant is, majority of the seating is outdoor which is covered. There's the dining area inside the restaurant which is pretty small, another patio to the side of that as well as the private room to the side for more of an intimate experience. Mainly the front patio and bar area tends to be the busiest. Staff were all amazing and friendly which is a major plus. Nobody wants to come an establishment where service is snooty and rude. Everyone was a major doll and the sweetest. Our waiter, I didn't get his name was the sweetest. As it was HH, they only had that menu available. Limited but still decent for what was offered. A good selection in cocktails items and for the price, they were great. As for food, same with limited items but pricing was great. They're known for the Mac and cheese with hot Cheetos as pretty much loads of the tables had ordered it. We've had it prior but this time opted out on it. Started off with one of their sangria which comes either red or white and an old fashioned. Both on the HH menu and very reasonable for 7.00 a pop. Cant beat that. Sangria was quite refreshing with the fruit slices while the old fashioned, it was strong. Actually worth it for 7.00. Food, a mixture of things to share. An order of their fries with parsley and rosemary with an aioli sauce for dipping, 8.00. The braised cheddar brat with house mustard, caramelized onions, Calabrian chili with basil and shallot for 11.00. Quite tasty and flavorful with all the topping and served in a nice roll. The chicken sandwich which was quite big. Fried chicken with cheddar and American cheese, chef sauce, pickles on a benne seed bun for 11.00. And lastly the attic cheeseburger with new school American cheese, pickles, grilled onion aioli, caramelized onions on a benne seed bun cooked medium for 12.00. It was tasty but between that and the chicken sandwich, chicken takes the leads. Pricewise for the sandwiches was great. Everything is à la carte on the menu. They do have other main dishes but we just stuck to the sandwiches. Also a second round of drinks was had. The mango margaritas and the classic. Both tasty and for 7.00 a pop, can't beat that. The whole experience was great. Service was excellent and all the staff were amazing. Patio seating is great as it's perfect for people watching and enjoying the outdoor. Until next time.

Cool, they can make it. what I got was a cup of coffee in a to go cup (even though I was dining in) with milk and a foam, so really what I got was a flat white. the other coffee ordered was a latte which was pretty standard I ordered the chicken sandwich ($12) which comes on a biscuit and a side of fruit, to round it out I also ordered the yogurt bowl which is yogurt and granola. When the sandwich came out it looked rather disappointing. The biscuit itself is small, probably the size of a Pillsbury dough biscuit, and the chicken wasn't much bigger. nothing else on it like a green, coleslaw, sauce, etc. just these two items. However, it did come with a side of a honey butter. the side of fruit was about 8 pieces split between pineapple, melon, and grapes. the whole sandwich was dry, which can be expected from a biscuit, but this was just too dry for me. the yogurt bowl($8) came in a small bowl that had a large flaring, basically the entire dish was large but the bowl portion was small. I eat yogurt everyday and the amount you get is probably half the size of a standard serving of yogurt (170g) and it was sparsely sprinkled with granola. my partner ordered a chorizo burrito ($15) and while she raved about the flavor the size of it was laughable, especially considering there are plenty of spots in LB that serve double or even triple the size of this burrito at or near the same price lastly, and the most disappointing of all, was the cinnamon roll($8). they were on display at the register and figured yeah I want one of those and instead of giving it to me right then and there it was brought with the rest of the food but it was not warmed up, which made me question why I waited for it. It was rool temp, burnt, and hard. I do want to try other items but the price you pay for what you get, especially considering this experience I had, is off putting.
