One thing I really appreciate is their communication. They text about 30 minutes before arriving, and we usually get the same technician, which I love because he already knows our setup. When they finish, the pool water always looks crystal clear -- that satisfying "sparkling blue" moment when you walk outside. They're also very organized. After each visit they send a report with a photo of the pool and detailed notes on the chemicals and everything they checked, which I really appreciate. One thing to know: they won't remove items from the pool unless you specifically ask. My daughter once left some pool toys in there and I assumed they might grab them, but the technician explained they leave anything in the pool alone in case the homeowner placed it there intentionally. Totally understandable -- just something to be aware of. The owners are very responsive as well. We had an issue once and they actually came out themselves to help resolve it quickly. They're consistently on time, and the one time our tech was sick he texted to let me know he'd be out the next day. Helpful tip: if you want anything removed from the pool (toys, floats, etc.), just let them know ahead of time.

Their prices were reasonable, and they did not attempt to up sale unnecessary items. Picking the surface and tile was easy thanks to the samples they had in the show room. They also provide the catalog to see other options as well. The quality of work was satisfactory. We have no complaints. Big thanks to the one guy who spent two days installing 2 new skimmers and trenching and piping about 100 ft of new pipe. That man worked extremely hard and I was impressed he did it by himself. They dont do concrete. So if you're doing concrete, make sure you have good communication between your concrete guy and them. Coordinating the two was probably the worst part of the remodel. Nobody's fault, just need to get both contractors on the same page scheduling wise. If you get dark plaster, it WILL NOT be even. They explain this and make you sign. I honestly like the variation in our darker color. But don't be surprised or upset. It happens and its just cosmetic. I waited a year to do my review and we have had no issues. They couldn't figure out the electric timer which is real basic requiring 3 different people...maybe 4. They broke my filter and tried to use the silicone to rig it which failed. Broke the filter valve and stem in the sand filter. They also broke the stand but made sure they told me they replaced the $10 stand. We also had numerous delays. When I spoke to their pool equipment sub, he didn't know how the sand filter worked when he was hired to move, place it and re-plumb it. Wtf..... I previously wrote a much harsher review but took it down because I felt bad. This is my 3rd weekend in a row fixing the issues I paid them to do. Service level and quality is total crap.

I had been trying for about two years to get someone to remove and replace the damaged glass mosaic…read moretiles that decorated my pool above the waterline. I reached out to at least half a dozen companies but usually didn't even receive a reply. When I finally found Erik Johnson Tile, all that changed. Erik returned my call, came out to assess the project and gave me very useful feedback - sizes of tiles to look at, places to shop, and what would give me the most durable finish while meeting my design style. Communication with Erik, by phone, text or email, was reliable and quick, as was that with his office staff and the tile installer. I was always informed about where we were in the project and what to expect next. On the day, Camilo removed the glass and installed the new porcelain ceramic tiles. He was courteous, thorough, professional and an absolute artist at cutting and placing the tiles. He was also extremely careful with the pool structure itself, and left it and the surrounding area cleaner than it had been when he'd arrived. The landscaping, lighting and drip system in the area were also kept protected and undamaged. I cannot express the difference in my attitude towards my pool now. The cracked and stained glass is gone, and instead I have a sleek, modern look I know has been professionally installed and will be durable for years. I cannot begin to praise this job and how happy I am with it enough. To know how we got here, we have to know how it started, so I bought my house under the impression I had a working pool. 5 days after I moved in, the pool pump died and most of the water leaked out through cracks I was unaware of. It was devastating! I got some quotes to fix it, and that was really not in my budget. Fast forward 8 years, my homeowners insurance decided to drop me and no one would pick me up until I fixed the pool. I wasn't ready for the cost, but I didn't really have a choice if I wanted to continue to be able to insure the biggest purchase I ever made (my house) Now about this pool, it's a real piece of garbage, I would come to find out from the neighbor, it was home made had no plumbing, and was not plumbed correctly. This was like all my worst fears coming true. (Literally at times sick to my stomach about it) Sleepless nights, crying, telling my wife "I don't know what we're going to do." Then Antonio came by, He seemed confident and I really liked something about his character, he didn't say a lot but I believed him and ultimately went with North Star to fix my pool. It was AMAZING the way they took a piece of crap and turned it into a diamond. I have never had service so good. I mean if you understood, this was literally a dream I thought was never going to come true that I had all but given up on. The amount of work and the quality of this job was first class second to none. I cannot praise North Star pools enough. I researched them beforehand and I even read all their one star reviews (to see what I was getting myself into right?) I mean, those reviewers were tire kickers and if you clicked them and read their other reviews they have a history of giving everyone bad reviews. So I didn't find them credible against all the other good ones. I mean it you will see for yourself as I did. Again, let me reiterate, the communication is not their strong suit and if you expect that you will probably be disappointed, but if you sign on with them, shut up, and let them do what they do, they will produce the most stunning results you could ever imagine. I had a quality pool company spray our first liner and it lasted almost twenty yrs and only cost us 8000 dollars we payed 11000 dollars GONE .The owner Dave basically said he will not make good of a poorly installed fiberglass Job that his company did only 8 yrs ago.If you want your pool to last longer than 8 yrs find another company they dont care about there customers after they get your money. We just finished a two year restoration on our 1961 Mid Century home, including the pool. The…read morenewer, 1 year old plaster finish (installed by another company) was already looking aged and a lot of maintenance due to local well water. Our pool is a unique design-shape, over 30,000 gallons and 12 feet deep. It's located within an exterior courtyard in the middle of our home. Randy met with us and answered all our questions pertaining to a fiberglass finish; easier care and less chance of staining compared to plaster. He made us feel comfortable with the upcoming process, helped with tile resources, and was accurate on the length of time they would need to complete the job. He also spent extra time researching water truck companies for filling the pool. The team working on the pool was terrific!!! Ramon, the supervisor worked along side his team, and all team members were professional, courteous, and always cleaned up at the end of each day. The end result is beautiful. We could not be more pleased. I will follow-up on how the fiberglass does over time;)
