I found Chief Pools on Yelp and Yelp didn't let me down. I had a property in Citrus Heights I needed the pool resurfaced. Eugene came through with a Beautiful job and also recommend a pool equipment guy. I wish I had some photos the share with the Yelpers out there. I turned out to be a beautiful dark bottom pool. He even did the tile work. The cost to do the job was much cheaper then anyone else I got estimates from. I found Eugene to be very professional and to get the job done quickly. If you need pool work I suggest you call Chief Pool Plastering. read more

I can't say enough good things about Chief Pool Plastering. I had our pool re-plastered with Pebble Tech and abalone and new tile and it looks amazing! The entire team, from the estimate to final payment and everything in between, was always professional and helpful. Even during the tear our of our old pool and tile, the workers were on time every day, polite, and very efficient. My pool turned out absolutely fabulous and still looks like the day it was re-done and it's been 5 years! Please, do your self a favor and use Chief Pool Plastering for your new pool or if you are remodeling your pool. You will not be disappointed! read more

5 years later and our pool surface still hasn't exposed like Eugene said it would. It is still blotchy and maybe 50% of the diamond bright has shown through. I am extremely angry that ai paid extra for the diamond bright surface and Chief pool plastering screwed up the installation. I guess it is what it is and maybe in another 5 years, we might get to see the surface we paid for. Look else where for a pool plastering company. read more

I did an owner builder pool.Eugene came highly recommended from a family friend who has been in the industry over 20 years. They were the most reasonable quote we received and the work was amazing. The estimate covered exactly what would be done and they executed flawlessly. We had a newly poured pool deck and they did a great job masking everything off. They had a clean out box left over after they finished and before I could even call and ask about it there was a crew there to clean it up. His son came at the end of the job to make sure we were satisfied. Great family owned company. Thanks again Eugene and Gino read more

Back in April 2023 I had my pool replastered. After all these months my pools plaster does not look right. Let me say Chief did fast and nice work but I think the pool company (Prism Pool Pros) I used for start up may not have handled this important procedure correctly. Chief also sent out a person to look at my concerns. They stated that my issues were "normal". But after having other pool professionals preforming other minor work on my pool all state the new plaster does not look like new pool plaster should l decided to write a review. read more

UPDATE: Six years later, and our pool plaster is already failing. SIX YEARS! Pool plaster should last a lot longer than SIX years. We do not recommend this company, and we STRONGLY recommend that others thoroughly Research pool plastering companies BEFORE committing to one. read more

They sent somebody out to look at it took him about 10 minutes and he walked off and didn't say a word a week and a half later I got a phone call saying they could sandblast it and he knew somebody that could correct it but it would cost me and I have to pay for it it's not a figure of their part. This is absolutely their failure. So I'm stuck with it but at least I can warn everybody to stay away from Cheif Pool's they smile, Wear a company shirts, Try to look professional. But when it comes to backing up what they sell you that's an entirely different story. Remember when you were a teenager and you bought a used car I want to drive it off a lot that was your problem well that's what you get here with this pool company. Absolutely stay away from these people do not buy anything from them do not trust them. Total bullshit Don't say I didn't warn you. Anybody else have a pool out there from Cheif Pool's replastering? I dare you to say your pool looks right after seven years when it's warranted for over 10. I have attached the pictures so that you can see what your pool look like after five years and $9000 You don't have to learn every mistake on your own sometimes you can learn it by watching others I'm here to give you a lesson that you don't have to learn the hard way. Cheif Pool if you wanna make it right I'll clean up this post. But I'm willing to bet it'll be here 20 years from now, if I could give it zero stars I would,Maybe even a couple of negative stars. Maybe YELP should consider that ha ha ha read more

Got all the work done. Knew what they were doing. Communication was pretty poor, but they were all on autopilot and knew exactly what to do. Eugene is very knowledgeable, and seems to run a professional crew with pro equipment, tools and knowhow. The foremen were easy to work with and the tile guy was very accommodating. I am a very picky customer so was happy with the work. My contractor used them as a sub. read more

Bottom line this company did a terrible job. They were part of a package deal with the pool contractors so I had no choice. I had just spent well over $30K for a new patio. I am now in the process of cleaning up blue streaks and splotches and blue footprints from the entire grey stone patio including the walkway leading out of the yard which is far away from the pool. The inside of my pool is incredibly splotchy and there are even a couple of areas where it looks like they simply missed adding color. They told me it could take up to a year for the color to even out but from reading other reviews I sincerely doubt that's going to happen. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. read more

Over the past couple of years, during the renovation of my home and landscape, I've interacted with many people associated with various disciplines of construction. My most recent project was the resurfacing of an in-ground spa. Based on outstanding reviews and fair pricing, I contacted Chief Pool Plastering for the project. Eugene Rodriguez, the owner of the company, responded to my residence, provided me with options and recommendations regarding the finish and lighting, and patiently answered all my questions. After deciding on the various options, Eugene promptly scheduled the project to be completed. The project was completed within the projected time frame, within the specified budget, and the final appearance far exceeded my expectations. I believe the spa finish completed by Chief Pool Plastering is structurally and cosmetically superior to any pool or spa I have seen anywhere. I was impressed with the quality of work and attention to detail that was dedicated to the project. I was equally impressed with the commitment to customer (my) satisfaction. Anytime there were options for completing an aspect of the project, rather than just taking the easiest approach, Eugene would present the situation to me, allow me to choose the desired outcome, and execute it flawlessly. Eugene is an honest man and I would recommend his company, Chief Pool Plastering, to anyone interested in refinishing their pool or spa. read more

Great family run business with owners that take pride in their company and work. Eugene came out and presented us with a very reasonable quote for our project. We had multiple bids and appreciated the good communication and knowledge with replastering. We decided to go with the cobalt diamond brite option which came out nice and dark, which we wanted. The crew worked quickly and cleaned up after they left every day. I would highly recommend this company as they are good at what they do and they're good to their customers. read more

I called Chief to get an estimate for my pool. They were the cheapest bid but their work was top notch. They did an excellent job. They worked quickly and even cleaned up all the dust that came with plastering a pool. We finally had our pool re- plastered after 21 years. Chief did an amazing job - worked with our schedule for the demo and re-plaster work. They fixed a few loose tiles that we hadn't even brought to their attention. A re-plaster is an expensive job, so it was a great relief to be so satisfied with the process and the product. I highly recommend them! read more

We went through Chief Pool Plastering last month. They came out the next day to do an estimate. We scheduled for the demolition to be done on April 20th. They took about 2 weeks to do the entire pool. Out of the 2 weeks, they only worked 3 days. One for demo, one for tile, and one to do the resurface. We chose the quartz finish, and went with midnight blue. We love the way it turned out! Our only issue was their lack of communication once they started the project. They did not answer our calls and texts. They did not communicate when they were coming back to do the other pool work. They just showed up. That is our only complaint about our experience. Overall, we are very happy with the pool! read more

Hands down the best pool plastering company in the Sacramento region. I was referred to this company from multiple pool service professionals. I called to inquire and they quickly sent out a service representative to help get an accurate bid. I ultimately went with Eugene and Chief Pool Plastering. I did a fair amount of research and requested bids from several pool plastering companies. My pool had a ton of patches and cracks, I patched many of them myself. A month later, more cracks and patches were created. Rodriguez Bros did our plastering a long time ago - they did a very good job and got their bid. But cousin Eugene stood out from the rest. My boyfriend worked with Eugene before and suggested I call him. I appreciated his honesty and integrity. He quoted a very competitive price that we couldn't resist. His team came out in phases (one immediately after another), each were professional, thorough and did a great job. I was thrilled to find out that the Sandblasting machine that they use was one of the very few in town. Make sure your pool plastering service includes sandblasting the old concrete/plaster off (many only score the top). Sandblasting removes the old layer which sets up the best foundation for bonding. His team added more value to our request by putting in step-out tiles, a VGB Channel drain, and water-blasted our patio top for any remaining dust and debris. My next door neighbor called Eugene out for an estimate and Eugene said the pool plaster has another good 4 years left and to not use his services until then. Who refuses work these days for the best welfare of the client? Looks like there are still good businessmen out there. Call Eugene at Chief Pool Plaster. My family is very pleased with his excellent workmanship and our now beautiful pool! read more

We hired Chief Pool Plastering to do the sparkle quartz finish on our new owner-builder pool in Roseville. Eugene was very knowledgeable about the finish options and the color choices. Everything turned out better than expected! The reason I'm reviewing Chief Pool Plastering is because I thought that I had the color totally figured out before contacting them. After talking to Eugene and seeing the samples, I was convinced that the slightly darker "Steel Blue" color would be better for us than the classic "Tahoe Blue." It made all the difference! At about 5pm in the summer, the pool's colors really come out! It's literally the color of paradise! The darker color also helps with the pool temperature. We were able to reach temperatures of 85+ degrees in June without a heater or solar cover! read more

I have been using Eugene as one of my main contacts/ referrals for swimming pool resurfacing for a few years now with my Pool Inspection business. I have not had a client yet that wasn't absolutely thrilled with final results of their pool re plaster work by Chiefs Pool Plastering. Eugene's rates are very reasonable, and he gets the work started and competed every time without the excuses, stories and lip service other companies have given that I have worked with in the past. I will continue to refer his work and services, as I know when Eugene and his company show up for pool re plastering, the work will be exceptional and exceed expectations. -Ryan read more

Called Eugene and within a day he was able to get me a bid and an outline of how long it would take to plaster the pool and the current requirements that need to be done to make the pool safe. Instead of looking for more bids I went with Chief Pool Plastering, and within a week and a half my pool was drained, old plaster and re-plaster was removed, lights installed, auto fill installed, plastered, and filled with water. Previous re-plastering jobs had left layers of plaster to blister and create pockets that eventually failed. We had other bids telling us that the only thing they would do is scuff the old plaster and apply new plaster. We were pleasantly surprised as to the condition of the old plaster as they jack hammered and chiseled away, Because of the process we were able to reclaim more space to enable us to fit our solar salt water chlorination system. Everyone that worked on the pool was friendly and professional from the beginning to the completion of the pool plastering, and Eugene was extremely accommodating when we wanted to change or add on more things to the bid. I highly recommend Chief Pool Plastering. read more

These guys are horrible!!! I plastered my pool with them two summers ago and the pool is cracking and turning white. Gene the owner on a couple occasions told me he would fix it and has yet to come through. He won't return calls or emails, nothing. Please do your research when looking in to this service. He was a recommendation from my pool maintenance guy and I regret it every time I look at my pool. read more

I need to write another review. I gave them 5 stars before but things have changed. Still, I have to say that Eugene and Veronica are very nice people. Unfortunately, I was unable to reach them directly and have to deal with other person. We had our pool resurfaced 7 years ago due to a spa cracked. I was told that resurface will fix the problem. That was the main reason for both pool and spa resurfacing. You would think your pool should last more than 7 years after resurface. It turns out we have the same cracked again in the spa that was rebuilt and resurfaced. I contact Chief Pool and was told that the warranty for structure damage is only 1 year. Of course, I did not read the fine print. I still feel that if the rebuilt was done correctly, it should last longer. This statement is also confirmed by couple pool persons that I reached out to. If you resurface the pool due to cracks, watch out for the workmanship and warranty. read more

All I can say is I am so glad I found these guys when I did! I had 3 other quotes before I found Chief Pool Plastering and called just to see what their availability was since I was in a bit of a time crunch as I had just drained my pool. Gino left me a message that day and was able to come out and quote my pool the next day. The other 3 quotes were all within $200 of each other but Gino came in a bit below all of them and was able to get my pool started as quickly as everyone else said they could but Gino was the only one who seemed genuine about that start date and wasn't being pushy at all to get me to sign the contract like some of the others were. He said they would have it done within 1 week. They started right on schedule and had the plaster chipped out in about half a day. I got a call from Eugene another morning and he said they would have my pool plastered that day, would start filling it up by noon and sure enough they did! They had it done in less than a week which was another unexpected bonus. The pool looks beautiful, the service was excellent, the price and schedule were perfect. I would highly recommend these guys to anyone thinking about getting a pool re-plastered! read more

I don't like writing a bad review, but I cannot recommend. There was both good and annoying things with the process. Overall, My pool looks great as far as the tile work and new coping, and I think work was done well. However, the startup was not done well and I have calcium deposits all over the plaster, which changes the color of the plaster and therefore the plaster looks lousy. Neither the start up person, who Chief recommended, nor Chief would take responsibility. I also was tired of Eugene's snappy attitude....he yelled at me more than once and had sharp comments everytime I opened my opened my mouth. Not very respectful. read more

Gino and his crew just finished our pool with new plaster and tile.....and it looks better than I ever imagined (I don't usually gush, but it really is beautiful). We got bids from two other companies with solid reviews on Yelp. One was simply out our price range and the other chose not to provide an accurate contract that included the items we requested (must be so busy that it was too much to ask?). The process went quickly and smoothly. I was prepared to have our backyard trashed from the process, but I couldn't have been more wrong. They were clean, efficient, friendly, ... all good. The only thing I would recommend to anyone having their pool redone for the first time is this: Know what tile you want and plaster/pool surface. Visit tile stores, see the products, ask questions-know what you want before you contact anyone. Once you contact someone, they'll want to move, so it's best to know what you want or at least a very specific idea of what you want. Being this was our first time with the pool, we struggled a few days trying to find a waterline tile we liked, so it took ordering samples from outside our area. But Gino as able to get these....along with the Diamond Brite Quartz Super Blue.... it looks amazing! read more

Our pool is old and the plaster was a mess when we bought our home a couple years ago. We got about 7 bids to replaster and chose Chief. They were the lowest bid and, more importantly, offered the most professional and thorough final product. No add on menu needed. They bead blasted the old tile, removed the old finish, did a beautiful job with the perfect color plaster for the darker blue water we wanted, and added beautiful glass tiles to our steps and seating. All the crews arrived exactly on time. They worked hard and meticulously performed their craft and clean up. We couldn't be happier or more impressed with Eugene, his crews and everyone at Chief.
