Jade worked very hard to keep the project on task, even with bad weather and running into rock on the dig. We made changes through the process which were accommodated. We did not end up going with Rick. Not because we didn't want to, but because it came down to our budget. (We had a tight budget as most of our money went into the house). We have a completely unfinished large backyard and decided we didn't want to put our entire budget into the pool given we needed a lot in landscape and fencing etc. and would put us over. You definitely get what you pay for with Rick and it is nothing short of luxury high end with an innovative pool design. He does not play around with any option but the best in quality products as a standard for all of his pools. Aside from the pool, It was a very difficult decision not to go with him because he is such a great guy that clearly does it for the passion of making beautiful award winning designs and not solely for the money. I felt that he is selective with his work because he wants to make sure it's on brand and that the project is in line with his esthetic. I actually felt honored when he agreed to draft a design for us. His work is incredible. I had seen it on Pinterest and had to meet with him. Even when we were going back and fourth in making a decision he was very supportive and understanding, not pushy. In the end we went with a more simple design and spread our money across other areas of the yard. Anyway if you want a quality made "wow" pool with all the bells and whistles then he's your guy. He knows pools inside and out and because he's selective with his work his turnaround timeline was by far the fastest. read more

Advanced Pools did our salt pool (30x15 with 6x6 spa in the corner) this time last year. They were great from start to finish. Rick came out and gave us a digitized rendering of what the pool would look like. He recommended some things which we had not thought of as well (like different heights of spa seating for those in the family that are a little taller). We actually got an automatic cover with the pool with brackets (also recommended by Rick) and it turned out great. They worked closely with our city who is very, very particular about permits and paperwork, and Jade and team were on top of it. Only "delays" were natural things like waiting for the concrete to cure (who knew we had to water the concrete for a few times a day for 7 days), waiting for city inspections, etc. Expect high quality from the Advanced Pools team. We would use them again in a heartbeat. read more

Unbelievable work from design to execution. Exceptional communication and customer service from start to finish (and beyond). The waterfall rock work is spectacular and gets many positive comments from those who have seen it and have pools themselves. This was a pool project that was turned down by other pool companies due to the complexity of the yard (PG&E challenges as well as City Arborists requirements) and Rick and Jade didn't even flinch at it. I am so glad I landed with Advanced Pools as the final product exceeded my expectations and finished ahead of schedule. The crew was talented and friendly (not the combo I have experienced with other remodel work done on my home by other well known companies in Sacramento), and I always knew what was going on and what to expect. Side recommendation for concrete and pool maintenance companies have also been spot on. I absolutely love my pool and spa. Best decision I have made in remodel work by far. I had my swim/spa started in October 2016 and finished in March 2017. I was happy for the summer. However, the Intellichlor salt/chlorine generator kept blinking high salt levels. My Hammerhead Pools maintenance told me that the intellichlor was inaccurate and not to worry. I asked why Pentair would make inaccurate equipment. During the winter months, the intellichlor continued to blink high salt content. I phoned Advanced Pools and was told that I did not need to worry and that many customers were phoning about it. By spring 2018, my pool water was a chemical toxic tank. My maintenance kept trying to balance the water to no avail. My pool sweeper was completely corroded inside and outside. I brought in an expert to look at my equipment as Hammerhead Maintenance did not bother to look further regarding rusted sweeper. All my Pentair equipment is corroded, my pool water is hazmat, my pool cover is completely damaged, and my pool itself is damaged. Did it start with no one caring about the Intellichlor blinking high salt content?? Does Pentair make faulty equipment? Does Pentair make all equipment with bolts and nuts that rust? Hammerhead Pools did not maintain my equipment for the price level I paid. They never cleaned the inner and outer cartridges of the filter pump and never cleaned the cell of the intellichlor.They never checked or changed the output of the intellichlor or the scheduled hours for the filter pump, originally set for the shock treatment and balance of the pool water. Be careful Advanced Pool owners, you may already have corroded equipment. If you are using their recommendation of Hammerhead Pool Maintenance, stop that service immediately. It is easy to become an accredited pool maintenance person but you cannot buy experience. Also, pool owners, do you have a written contract with your Pool Maintenance Company? If not, quit the company and seek someone with a contract regarding your maintenance. read more

Advanced Pools built us a beautiful quality pool that we are quite happy with. However, they recommended a terrible concrete contractor, who, it turns out was a family friend. In addition, we were required to put in a new electrical panel, and opted to have Advanced do this for us because they said they could get in done quickly. It took over a year (and several failed inspections) for them to get the work done to code, they ended up coming back to us for more money to finish the project, and they left us with an electrical problem that said they couldn't figure out how to fix. It took a licensed electrician about five minutes to find the problem and correct it, and it turned out it could have caused a fire. Very disappointed in the way they chose to handle this issue. Have them build your pool, but don't have them do anything outside that. read more

This review could have easily been 5 stars because the solution was easy and was difficult to write because it unfairly reflects on great people there like Jade and Rob. I, Dave, direct this review to the owner. Pool deck began cracking within 30 days after it was poured in 10 locations. This was in 2016. The problem remains to this day. I received no support from Advanced Pools. I was forced to deal with the concrete subcontractor directly. Numerous calls, texts, pictures were sent with no success. As a former employee of a major contractor, we took 100% responsibility for the actions of our subcontractors. Definitely not the case with Advanced Pools. During initial discussions, owner indicated he took a personal and active role during all phases of pool construction. Never saw him again after the first day. I'm now pursuing action thru the state contractor license board and will pursue action via small claims court, if needed. The irony is that the concrete owner agreed the problem should be fixed. Can I give them 6 stars? Our new pool (okay, it's two years old now, so not quite new anymore) is exactly what we wanted - beautiful, worry-free, and low-maintenance. Rick and his team gave us just the pool we wanted, in the timeline promised, and at the price originally quoted. When was the last time a contractor came in on time and on budget?? Rick is very knowledgeable, and his support team is friendly, thorough, and committed to excellent communication. While not the cheapest quote, we decided on Advanced Pools due to their reputation, professionalism, and quality of product. And we could not be happier!
