Overall excellent experience with Antonio and whole North Star Pools team. Antonio was able to quickly provide a quote after doing a site visit, which was very reasonable compared with several other companies we got quotes from. It was clear that he was very knowledgeable and provided great recommendations for our remodel. We selected our tile and plaster from NPT, while at the store the NPT service member had nothing but good things to say about Antonio and the quality of service they provide, which was a good sign to me. Once we finalized the contract, they started the job promptly. The entire team were very kind, professional, and were attentive to details. The entire project would have been completed in about 5 days, however after beginning to fill the pool a leak was detected. Antonio was very responsive and attentive to solving our issue without delay. The leak was identified, repaired appropriately and leak detection tests were negative after the repair. After having going through this hiccup, I can say without hesitation that Antonio is very honest and dedicated to providing not only good customer service but also to doing the right thing and a good job. I beg you, I beseech you, I am absolutely pleading with you: If you need a pool contractor, DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Not only is this the most worthless pool contractor in the greater Sacramento area, he is also perhaps the least professional person I have ever dealt with in my life. I can't believe the 4.9 stars he has on Yelp. They must either be fake reviews or he likely bribes people to write them. We needed someone to replace the tiles and plaster on our wading pool. His terrible, slow and disjointed communication from the start should have been the first red flag. Finally we manage to schedule a date to remove the old tile and plaster. His team shows up late, removes the plaster and tiles, and leaves without telling me. Now the fun part....they never came back! I called and texted for 4 days with no response. When I finally texted back to say that I assumed they had abandoned the job, he texts back in 5 minutes saying that "his phone had been broken." As an added bonus, his incompetent crew damaged the structure of the pool by jack hammering the old plaster off. Now I get to pay the new contractor extra to repair that before I finally get the new plaster on. STAY AWAY FROM THIS INEPT AND INCOMPETENT BUSINESS UNLESS YOU LIKE WASTING HOURS OF YOUR TIME AND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS! read more

North Star Pools Plastering is by far the best pool replastering company out there bar none. I am not kidding when I say this. We spent a few years researching pool companies and got multiple quotes. As expected, it is not cheap to replaster a pool as it's quite the investment. However, with that being said, the right pool company can ensure that your pool will last many years and continue to provide smiles in the summertime when it's a million degrees outside and you want to jump into your beautiful pool to cool off. Antonio, Alejandra (Antonio's wife), and employees were spectacular. The free onsite quote was quite the painless experience. Antonio was extremely knowledgeable and you can see that he cares about his work. Whenever we had questions, Antonio and Alejandra would answer our questions quickly and without much fuss. I can tell you that we had many questions and they were nothing but patient. We decided to go with the NPT Stonescapes Mini Pebble instead of just plaster. The added cost was well worth it over boring plaster. The pool now pops with the beautiful addition of mini pebbles. We went with Aqua blue mini pebbles with glass beads and abalone shells to give our pool some pop. What a beautiful addition. They hand throw the beads and shells onto the plaster which is a much better method than just throwing them into the mix. It was such a wonderful experience that we recommended Antonio and team to a few of our neighbors on our street. Since our installation, one more neighbor's pool was completed by Antonio and team with another one in progress and near completion. 2 other neighbors will be having their pools replastered in the spring. To check out the many possible pebble colors and tile choices, we visited the NPT showroom in Rancho Cordova. Poor communication. No follow up on issues with job improperly completed. After payment was submitted incomplete work was never finished. They did not use our original screw for the under water light fixture and swapped it with another screw which caused a large amount of rust to form in the pool. Several attempt to ask them to remove and replace with the proper screw were ignored. Update: I wrote yet another message to Northstar only to continue to be ignored. read more

The first day was demolition, where a skilled crew of about eight workers arrived fully equipped with trucks, jackhammers, drills, and other heavy-duty tools. They broke the old concrete surface into thousands of pieces, which was quite noisy and required a lot of labor to haul away, but they powered through it with precision and teamwork. The second day brought a different crew of eight individuals, each handling specialized tasks for the plastering process. Both teams were friendly and worked in perfect sync, completing each phase in less than half a day while keeping the site clean. We had North Star Pools redo our pool and it looks fantastic. The old smooth plaster was looking mottled and we had an area where the rebar was rusting through the plaster . North Star removed the old plaster, pumped in the new plaster with the micro pebble surface, replaced the old lights with LED's and replaced the drains at the bottom of the pool. It was a fascinating process to see and, although it was very hard work, based on the laughter coming from these guys, they really enjoy working together. I highly recommend North Star. North Star Pools Plastering did an outstanding job replastering my pool. North Star had the most competitive price. I worked closely with Antonio the whole step of the way and stayed in constant communication by phone and text to get updates on scheduling since there was rain holding up the scheduling. When North Star Pools was onsite they worked diligently. It took four workers one day to remove the old tile and plaster, it took one worker three days to do the tile, it took 7 workers (not exactly sure if there 6, 7, or 8 workers) one day to do the plaster. I very pleased with the work that North Star Pools Plastering has done for me. I highly recommend North Star Pools for their workmanship and competitive pricing. Notes on my project: Pool is roughly a 25,000 gallon pool and is about 40 years old. The last time this pool was replastered was 23 years ago and the tile is original from 40 years ago. I decided to go with white plaster again for two reason: one is because I like the blue color of the pool against the white plaster and two because this is a rental so it is the cheapest way to go. Antonio and his crew did a great job! Antonio gave me a nice detailed bid for the pool remodeling. I had pebble tech finish done (Tahoe Blue), I had the waterfall removed ( it always looked like whoever lived here before had tried repairing it and it looked crappy and we never used it, so it was a great decision to get rid of it). The pool deck was continued around the pool (It's great being able to walk around the pool, I'll be able to put a Cantaliver umbrella there now and it will give us great shade in the summer!), new tile was installed, a hand rail was installed and I had a new led light installed! Also, new main drain and spa drain. All of the different guys from each crew were great workers. They showed up early and were ready to go. I would show them where the pool and electricity was and said let me know if you need anything? I would come out to watch them and stay out of their way. They knew what they had to do, got setup and got to work. They were productive and worked efficiently! Next was the tile and Jose did a great job on it. He suggested we go with the 1" tile pieces for the top of the spa and it looks great. Then the concrete guys came over and added the new deck. They were great workers, they knew what they were doing. I thought it might take a couple of days but they were done in 1 day. Aldo installed the pool hand rail and light. The last big job was getting the new pool surface done. They showed up ready at 7am and got on it, everyone worked together and knew what to do, it was a lot of work. They were done and had everything cleaned up by 1pm. I was impressed, they worked great together. The next day Adrian (another great worker)came and everything was cleaned up, the pool was acid washed and buffed and around 2pm water was going in the pool. It finished filling by 10am the next day. About 2 1/2" per hour. The pool took around 10,000 gallons of water per the meter. I really didn't think about getting the pool resurfaced but my neighbor had it done and I saw how they did it and got bids and went with North Star Pools and went for it. Can't wait for warm weather in April to turn the Solar pool heating on and getting in the pool. The last big job was doing the landscaping where the waterfall was. I did it by myself. I used the old rocks, power washed them, chipped off the old grout, reworked the dirt back there and started stacking them and added new salt and pepper rock. It looks pretty good, I need to add a little more to it. read more

I feel you get a better quality of workmanship when the owner is present during plaster day. Our pool is approx. 40,000 gallons with an infinity edge pool and spa. On plaster day, Antonio showed up with 12 guys. He started at 6:00am and finished the job around 3:30pm. His crew was very professional and did a great job with the prep work by making sure to keep plaster off of our pool tiles and concrete.
